Could you make chocolate milk with this?

Yes, it takes a little longer to dissolve. If you have a way to shake it to dissolve it works quicker. Makes tasty chocolate milk.

Why do you say it's sugar free when the 1st ingredient is a sugar!!??

Because it is no longer considered sugar, maltitol can be added to things like candy and other desserts to make them “diabetes friendly.” The makers can claim their product is sugar free.

Can this be used in hot chocolate?  Also, does it need to be stored in the refrigerator when opened?

I'll answer your second question first: No, we have never refrigerated the product, and we have never had spoilage even over long periods of time.  Further, the product is very thick and refrigerating it would make it very difficult to use.  Even when not refrigerated, we sometimes need to warm it a little to get the syrup to flow.

As to your first question: We have not used it in hot chocolate, but the syrup was used in a classy coffee shop we frequented to make their hot mocha drink.  Again, it is thick so it will take a little stirring when you put it in your hot chocolate.

BTW, we love the quality and flavor of this product, and will put it over raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and ice cream, with or without berry liqueur on the ice cream.  It has a great dark chocolate flavor.

The exp. date is printed clearly on the lid.  Mine have always given atleast 10 months to use safely, although I actually kept one bottle on the shelf much longer than that (it got hidden behind some stuff) and because it hadn't been opened yet, it was still fine.  I did refrigerate it after opening but that made it difficult to use as I would have to stand the bottle in a pan of very warm water for a while to get it to come out.  The un-expired bottles which I use, I do not refrigerate.  I have cut them open when they were empty and found no mold, no separation nor discoloration, even when the mostly-empty bottle has been at room temperature for over a month.  I am very happy with this product -- I love the color, aroma, consistancy and taste----- it is deliscious!!!
