Excellent 1991 commander add on
Pros The hammer bite will never happen again. It provides a very comfortable fit to the web of the hand and adds to the controllability while also adding to the aesthetics. IMO it is a must have if you have patience. Cons It was not a drop in add on as stated in the description, with no instruction sheet I resorted to a youtube video. However by taking my time and being patient and removing very little material where it makes contact with the trigger bow I was able to get it to work as good as the OEM safety grip. The red area in the video below is where I removed a very little material.

Good fit for Colt Commander model (stainless)
While not exactly 'drop in', this is probably as close as it gets. You need to file a small amount of metal down (there are umpteen videos on youtube how to do this) but this is an easy task even for amateurs like myself. The fit is not perfect, a small gap, but it is actually better than the factory part on a Colt Commander. I highly recommend this part if you are keen on doing it yourself. Also, don't be scared of taking the frame bits apart to install this, it was my first time and went so perfectly, I installed a replacement trigger an hour later. Tools required: Small screwdriver, small file (or Dremel). While I cannot post links on Amazon reviews, I highly recommend searching youtube for "Series 80 1911 Complete Disassembly with DETAILED INSTRUCTION" while installing this part if you are new to all this.

Wilson Beaver Tail Grip Safety
By no means is this a drop in part, but that should be expected if you are upgrading your 1911. I had to remove a lot of metal on the sides and the bottom to get it to fit, but the quality of the metal in this grip safety is worth it. It is not very hard to fit, but you need to take you time so you donโt remove too much. Like all Wilson Combat parts, it is not a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) part, and should stand the test of time.

Great product, wrong picture
Although the piece was well made, the pictured product is not what you receive, using the picture as a referance I choose this style of grip safety, this is for the commander not the gi that is pictured

Great quality, but will require fitting.
I'm a Licensed Gunsmith, I installed 3 of these in my local Sheriff's Department's duty weapons. If you expecting this to drop in it won't. There will be some minor fitting required. If your unable or unwilling to do this please take it to a gunsmith.

Excellent Part, but not a drop in
It's a quality product but be warned it's not a drop in replacement. I had to remove a LOT of material in many different spots. This may be because I was installing it in a '78 commander but it was quite a bit of work. All-in-all a great part, I polished it up and it shines like a mirror.

Good buy.
Fit my late model LW Colt Commander. Filed a shade of the front tang to first clear the frame so it could pivot fully. Then filed a smidge off the bottom of the tang so the trigger bow would clear. Looks great. Works great. Got that stupid duck bill out of the web of my hand.

Hot garbage.
This beavertail is trash. Doesnt in any way match the frame contour. Beavertail curls too fast and awkwardly. Huge gap between the .250 tang radius and the beavertail all the way around. Looks like trash.
