Updated August 1, 2021
January 23, 2020 So far so good. I put them in water several days ago at 6 am . First photo is 7pm the same day, already little nubbies! The next picture is 7 days later! Seriously, dont buy these until you're ready for them. Update June 2, 2020 See photos, the tallest ones are up to about 30"-32". We had a pretty heavy snow storm over the winter and I had them sitting outside in pitchers of water... out of the 20, I still have 14. Some died because the dogs got to them, others just werent doing too great. I have several in one pot to help them get their roots up to par before I put them in they're permanent containers... I live in a neighborhood. WILLOWS WILL GO AFTER YOUR WATER LINES! If you dont live in the country, I highly suggest putting them in pots. They must be atleast 50 feet from water lines and houses. Save yourself the plumbing damage. I soak them daily and keep the soil moist at all times. Update July 1, 2020 Just transplanted the 14 trees into 7 tubs. I need them for privacy and adding some green to the yard. I expect them to go into shock. Yellowing and crispy leaves. But they should be OK. If you're thinking of getting these, I hope my review updates help you to know what to expect. Update August 3, 2020 Welcome back! For this months update, the trees are loving their own space and they had just a smidge of shock after the move. A few lost leaves, but for the most part, all is well. The red and black markings are exactly one week apart. So you can see that they are growing so fast! I'm 5' 3", and two are already taller than me. I cut some of the suckers from the bottom to help transfer energy to the already established branches, im hoping these will fill out and start blocking out neighbors. We have had some hot weather (high 90s, to triple digits) and they are doing well in the heat. I have had some critter problems, but I spray them once a day with a safe repellent. Till next month, hope this helps! Update Sept 6 For this months update, I think the photos speak for themselves. My best tree is measuring at about 9 feet, two are roughly 6 feet, and the other four are still trying to find their bearings, i havent seen too much movement with them yet. Im in Southern California and we've been in the triple digits for several weeks now. They have just flourished in this weather, and im watering them in the evenings everyday. 👍 Update June 13, 2021 3 out of the 4 trees are over 10 feet tall. These guys are doing great! 👏 Update August 1, 2021 My dudes are still growing strong, however here in Southern California, we've had a pretty hot summer, average day is mid to high 90s. and I think these guys are feeling it. I had a lot of leaves fall off, and I think it was due to lack of water. I upped the watering to morning and evening, and I'm starting to see buds again. These guys like their moisture!

Amazing growth.
Update at 12 months after receiving order: Pictures 3 and 4 were taken about a month ago and those trees are currently about seven feet tall. During this past month all of my trees have added at least another two feet in height. My objective is to create a living fence, so when several of the larger trees reached 12 to 14 feet tall, I cut about 3 feet off of the tops. The lower branches are filling in and just starting to create a privacy fence. The trees in the pots are growing the fastest, but they will get planted in the ground during the next couple of weeks. My recommendation is: water, water, water. Update 9 months after receiving order: All of the Willow trees survived the winter, including what has been a brutal summer. Each tree has hundreds of healthy looking leaves. My shortest tree is now at knee level, but most of the trees are at around waist level. The tallest trees are the ones that I haven't planted in the ground yet. They are growing in 10 gallon pots. Those 4 trees are way over my head in height, and I estimate them to be around 8 feet tall. As the days started getting longer, warmer and drier, I began watering the willows everyday. I also give them a good drink of Miracle Grow about every 10 days. I think it took part of the summer growing season for the roots to get established, but once they started growing, they really took off. My fastest growing trees are gaining about an inch of height every day. I hope to update in another few months before the trees go dormant for the winter. I received these just over a month ago. Stems were placed in 4 inches of water for 3 days, and then transferred into pots. It's the 3rd week of October and they are doing great. Yesterday I planted half of them in the ground and I will leave the other 6 plants in pots over the winter. I'm in zone 8b.

Twigs In Water Is All I’ve Gotten From This…
to start off, I will definitely have to pay better attention to my middle of the night purchases! I searched for bamboo, as that is what I wanted but while skimming the star review numbers, this option showed in the feed. with such great reviews, I made the purchase and my package arrived, expeditiously — with no damage to the treelings (as we were still in 110 degree weather). I read all of the literature provided as well, scanned the QR code provided with the literature (this is when I discovered I had not purchased bamboo, nonetheless, these willows I received were shown to provide privacy and shade which is what I wanted). I followed the instructions, placing them in water and … they never rooted. two started shooting thorn-like sprouts then nothing. I just ended up with twigs in water! they never went dry nor were they in direct heat or light. even though I purchased outside of what I wanted, I was pretty excited for them to begin sprouting up but that did not happen. I have waited to write this review because I received these September 5th. our weather remained hot and now, on October 30th is flipping to 40 degrees. that said, I considered the timing in which I purchased these to begin planting, why I paused the review. I did buy the 10 set, receiving three extra however, only 7 were healthy size and the others were very thin so I assumed the extra three made up for the tiny 3 of 10. in all ways I dice it, this was not a favorable purchase for me. if between now and, let’s say… next spring, things turn around, I will update my review.

My kids thought I was nuts.
When these arrived my kids looked at 14 sticks and said what are those? I said, "They're trees I bought for the yard." Reply, "You bought sticks?" So, yes technically I received 14 sticks between 6" and 9" long when they arrive. I immediately put them in water and within a week I had roots and leaves just beginning to bump out from the stalks. After about 20 days I transferred them to pots and put half in a grow tent and half outside. The ones in the grow tent seem to be slightly bigger but no big difference. Of the 14, 13 seem to have survived. I have noticed that the smaller in diameter the stalk, the faster they root and grow. Now, I've had them growing for nearly 5 weeks and the largest of the group is maybe 10" tall with the average around 5". Pretty impressive. My plan is to allow them to grow in the potts throughout the summer and then plant them in the beds in the fall. Update: Just over 6 weeks and this week they really took off. 5 of them are now over 36" tall! Seem to do best in 5-7 gallon fabric pots. Some are planted in small (maybe 1 gallon) plastic pots and they are doing well also. Maybe 20" tall but need to be repotted already. Surprisingly, the smallest are in SIP watering pots I made from 5 gallon HD pales. They like the cheapest option. All I used was FoxFarm Ocean potting soil with some worm castings added.

Originally Not Impressed - Now Am
Second Edit: While potting in dirt I noticed I actually received 12 sticks instead of 10. The seller must have included the extra two to compensate for the fact that none of them originally had root buds sprouting. All of them are still alive and still growing at an exceptional rate in the dirt almost a week later. None of the leaves have wilted, browned, or fallen off. I used bagged Sta-Green "Tree & Shrub Garden Soil" from Lowes to pot them. This dirt is fertilized which I was worried about, but it seems to be doing fine. If Lowes had regular bagged top soil in stock I would have used that instead. Increased to 4 stars. Edit: The sticks have been in a cup of water for 11 days. All have sprouted roots and are growing new stems with leaves. They are drinking water like crazy. I'm transferring them to dirt in pots today. Adding one more star. Will update in another week or two. Original review: Not that impressed. None of the sticks have sprouting roots like the listing says they will. It is very apparent they were cut the day they shipped them. The stem sizes vary between about 3/16" and 5/8". I did receive 10 sticks, the only reason for 2 stars instead of 1. I will update if the sticks actually grow root buds.

These will be great someday... If they survive
9/16/2022 Update: OK, so now that I've had these a couple more months (and placed several more orders) I wanted to update my review. I bought 10 of these the 1st order, I received 11. All rooted. I placed a 2nd order for 10 more, I received 12. Not all of them rooted, and by this time, some of the 1st batch began dying/rotting. I placed yet ANOTHER order from the same seller, for 24 of the jumbo cuttings, thinking I would have a higher chance of success with them. By the time I received that order, more of the 1st order and some of the 2nd order had died. Some didn't even root... just turned to mush in their cups. As of today, I have lost about half total (including the jumbo sticks) to some weird white fungal disease that seems to be slowly spreading. I took those from their soil to find they were literally MOLDING below the surface. I bought some organic spray to try to save the ones I have left. I don't know if it was user error (I followed the directions word for word) or maybe I got a bad batch of branches, but I have spent a lot of time and money to end up being not-so-impressed. I did start planting a few in the ground from the 1st order that have begun outgrowing their peat pots, so I will hopefully end up with a small privacy barrier. It won't be 54 trees like I had hoped, but I will continue trying my best! 7/3/2022 Update: I've had these in water for 6 days and i added a pic of the difference already. I do have 2 duds, but I did receive 12 instead of 10 so I figure I haven't lost anything. So far, so good!! These were delivered 8 days after ordering (in as perfect condition as sticks can be lol) and wouldn't you know it... just wrapped in a wet paper towel these little guys sprouted already!! Im hoping thats a good indication that these will all be succesful trees if they are able to grow wrapped in a plastic bag. These came with printed instructions and after reading a bunch of reviews, I'm placing in water to establish roots. I'm taking a chance in hopes that the roots will shoot before fall so I bought compostable peat pots to transfer them to so I can transplant before the ground freezes. I will update along their journey 😊

Easy to get rooted
You could follow the instructions but then you would still need to plant them. Often that could damage the roots, and killing to tree cutting. It's much easier to place them in small half gallon buckets with dirt and keep the dirt wet. How wet? Well keep the water so you can see standing water above the dirt/mud. After 2 or 3 months remove the tree and root ball and all the dirt. Without disturbing the roots as much as possible. After you planted them keep the ground wet for a few more weeks watering every 2 or 3 days. I live in Missouri and I found the best time for me to order them is the last week's of February and planted the first week of June. I kept watering them all the way into August. I collect rain water from my gutters on my house. And store in three 275 gallon IBC totes. Watering my garden never cost me a dime. Well green thumbs up everyone.

Quick and easy results
These arrived March 1st… it’s been 5 days and they have already sprouted buds and substantial roots on all of the branches that arrived. I immediately put them in water in a glass vase on my windowsill upon arrival. The dampened paper towel they were wrapped in was still wet so they arrived quickly without rot or mold. I’ve changed the water once so far and will keep up with it. I am pleasantly surprised at the speed of growth already. Once the roots are established a little more I will then plant them in soil. A little sheet with directions on proper care arrived in the package and these are as easy as can be. If they take off once planted I’ll probably purchase again to use as a natural border in my large backyard along one bare area of the fence line. I imagine in a few years these will be quite large. I would absolutely recommend if you’re patient enough to start from these small branches. Though it will take time to developed into a substantial hedge/tree, it’s as easy as propagating a pothos clipping by just sticking in water and waiting.
