Looks and feels like solid gold. Very happy.

Doesn't feel plated, and looks more bright reddish-yellow than gold
This chain seems reasonably well-made and sturdy, but something's not right. First, I have had metal chains before. When you pick them up they feel cold for awhile, like metal does, until they warm up in your hand. But this one feels warm quickly, as if it's coated with plastic not metal. Second, the color is so bright as to be gaudy, like children's costume jewelry. I have seen gold, and this has a little more red. The effect makes the chain an alarmingly brilliant yellow. Third, the links are larger than I expected. It is not like a biker's wallet chain, but it's going in that direction compared with the finer, more elegant chains I recall seeing in the past. So I'm not sure this is the right companion to an elegant, understated, antique pocket watch. It does seem mechanically reliable, however, so I guess I will use it until I find something better.
