Are the posts removable so that you can only use one under the white base?

You use 2 posts one under each base.

Can the posts be removed to be used as a regular drop down base?

Yes, but the base would not be secured then and would slide around a bit. But, yes, the posts are removable.

How do you secure the anchors in the ground?

The black ladder looking piece gets buried into the ground up to the top of the 2 hollow "receptor" prongs. The base has solid white "insert" prongs that go into the hollow black piece. (Kind of like a big version of a snap on clothing.) You can see the white prongs in the photo. This keeps the base in place. When you are done, you can remove the base and keep the black piece in the ground, covering the prongs with the 2 black caps, until you play again. Worked very well.

Great price for product. Bought for our baseball field that only had a single first base. Keeps the kids safe. Was very easy to install...didnt come with any directions but easy to figure out. Have used one season with 2 13u and 14u teams. Held up and i think it will continue too. Would buy again.
