Handy for car, home and dorm use
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The Insta Crate Collapsible 12 Gallon Storage Bin is a storage solution with an innovative design. Folding flat to less than 4" thick, the crate which weighs only 3 pounds can comfortably tote up to a maximum of 12 gallons or 62 liters per the Amazon description. This is a bit confusing as to what weight capacity this product actually has as the weight of 12 gallons is 100 pounds and the weight of 62 liters is 137 pounds. I'm going to suggest that if you get the crate you consider what you can comfortably lift and carry - even if the max is over 100 pounds! I loaded mine with items that weighed in between 20 to 50 pounds. I'm not sure I'd want to go heavier or if the crate handles would really be durable enough with repetitive use for heavier loads in the crate. The size of the folded crate is 21" x 14.25" x 11.6" when fully expanded.Opening the crate is easy! You simply pull up and allow the sides to lock into place. Collapsing the crate is equally easy; push from the outside on the colored portion of the crate (shorter sides) when the crate is empty and the crate will go back to its flat position.I have used these in my car for handy potability of fishing gear when headed to the river and for bringing in groceries from Trader Joe's. Being able to collapse the crate and slide it on its side into small spaces like those next to the washing machine, behind my seat in the car or under a bed is wonderful!I will be sending one with my daughter to college to use as a laundry basket, but I'm sure she'll find lots of other uses for it as well and not struggle to find storage space for it in her tiny dorm room.--------------------------------------------What I like about this product...1. It's sturdy. The plastic seems durable and it comes together as expected time after time without any visible signs of wear.2. It's easy to use. No instructions needed, and anyone can do it!3. It's inexpensive (when purchased at a local warehouse store for less than seven dollars per crate).4. The built-in handles are comfortable to use.5. It's easy to clean. Simply rinse or wipe off anything you get on it.-----------------------------------------------What I wish was better about this product...1. The sides do inadvertently collapse if there is nothing to hold them in place. Put items in the crate to the colored panel sides first to avoid this problem when loading with groceries or similar.2. There is no top for this item.3. They can't be left open and stacked overturned (for a table) or on their side (for bookshelves) like traditional milk crates, so they are not an ideal solution for creating storage space.4. There is no clear maxium weight capacity listed other than '12 gallon' and the 62 liters in the product description, which indicates a maximum weight capacity of between 100 to 137 pounds which is think is way too high for this item.-------------------------------------------------I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a clever way to tote groceries, laundry or similar. The collapsible design is easy to store in your home, car, garage or a dorm room, and they are a great size for a multitude of uses. If you get them at the right price - you'll just want to buy more!NOTE: Love these crates, but way overpriced on Amazon! I picked up (3) of them for less than twenty-one dollars at my local Costco.----------------------------------------------

Wish I invented this!
These are sturdy and folds up very nicely. But I just purchased this at the big wholesale store that I'm sure most of us are members of for only $7.99. Not sure why they're being sold here for more than double the price.

Wonderful! And Made in the U.S.A!
We have 4 of these and love them. They stay in the cars until they're needed. Not only great for carrying items from the car but also for keeping anything fragile from rolling around while driving.

Great for Hauling Stuff From the Car
Great invention. Bought two. One to keep in the car to haul shopping backs and the other around the house. Gotta ding the $ here--bought them for $7.99 at Costco.
