How well would it work for killing snakes at 5-10 yards?

Well, yes, certainly with a pellet; maybe even with the BB (probably not???). I would not stand 5 to 10 yards away and let myself be a test certification; however, in my day, I had the honor actually be told by the "target" to shoot him. I refused several times. He persists.
