Asus TUF Gaming Laptop FX504 15.6” 3ms Full HD IPS-LEVEL, Intel Core i5-8300H Processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 8GB DDR4, 256GB M.2 SSD, Gigabit WiFi, Windows 10 - FX504GM-WH51

The FX504 is an incredible value, and I am extremely happy with my decision/purchase. My configuration (GM-WH51) came with the i5 8th Gen, 256Gb M.2 (albeit SATA not NVME), and a 3Gb 1060(mobile). I'll preface the rest of this by saying I'm an avid PC user, builder, and all-around enthusiast. I also happen to particularly favor ASUS and their products. My last laptop was a U43F bamboo series from 2011; it finally died on me a week before I made this purchase, so I had been on the hunt for several days before settling on this machine. I had an incredibly difficult time shopping because I'm pretty picky and had very specific parameters. This model really popped out to me because it not only featured the important things like an SSD & dedicated graphics, but it was so much less expensive than traditional 'gaming' laptops of the same variety. Overall, if you're looking for something that can perform about as well as $1000 laptop without some of the bells and whistles then this is the one for you. Out of the box you're going to want to update BIOS, clear-out the gray-ware/bloatware (it's fairly minimal), and update Windows. BE SURE TO SWITCH YOUR 3D SETTINGS TO THE GRAPHICS CARD! Otherwise you'll end up on integrated Intel graphics. Once finished (about an hour later) I ran it though some benchmarks and it did not disappoint. Userbenchmark showed all the parts were performing as intended or better, and the 3DMark Time Spy showed it scoring on par with their 'Gaming Laptop'. Having used it now for a couple of days I'm really enjoying the upgrade from my old notebook. The SSD is lightning fast on reboots and on wake-up. The keyboard is also quite enjoyable and has a nice feel (and yes! it has a number pad!). Also, the general overall build-quality and design has a very pleasing feel as well; a sort of sturdy-yet-sleek. It's not as thin or compact as the new Vivobook or ZenBook models, and the screen bezel is fairly thick compared to those as well. My only real critique is the the track-pad. It feels a little flimsy and seems like it's going to take some getting used to, but if you're going to use a mouse more often than not it obviously won't be an issue. TL:DR- I really recommend this laptop, especially in the $700-800 price range. For what you're getting it's an absolute steal, and it looks and performs as it should.

I got this product at 700$ which is an absolute steal for the components under the hood. when I first received this product I booted up crysis 2 and was able to play on max settings at 60 fps, note that I got the model with the 1060 inside and i5 processor. the only downsides are the ssd is small (256 gigs), screen is a bit dim but not too bad and only at 60hz. Also there is only 3 usb ports but you can remedy all these problems fairly easily. if you are into gaming and want a nice budget laptop, this is a good entry into the door being able to play most games on the market.

I've had this laptop for about a year and a half. Here's a rough timeline of everything that's gone wrong: 4 months - One of the fans starts making a ton of noise periodically 8 months - Fan gives out entirely 12 months - Hinge on right side of laptop where it opens cracks and starts to deteriorate 14 months - Track pad simply stops working 16 months - USB ports randomly stop working for minutes at a time 18 months - Red lights on display completely die Warranty? Enjoy shipping your laptop to Texas for several weeks whenever anything goes wrong. This is simply a poorly made product that I cannot recommend to anyone.

I bought this a month ago as my son's graduation present. I waited to give it to him until yesterday, only working on it when he was at work. It needs a ton of updates on drivers and windows 10 out of the box. Probably 5 hours or more. That said, he was thrilled to get it and spent a few hours on it. All of a sudden, less than 12hrs after actually "using" it, BSOD and constant reboots into the Bios screen. After a day of research and tests, the SSD is seen in the bios, but not bootable. Unreadable and corrupted. I had considered calling tech support and going through the RMA process, but decided to order a new M.2 SSD (not Kingston!), and get more capacity and just repair it myself. We will see soon if all is well. I can't fault Asus support, as I didn't use it yet. 1 day shipping (thanks Amazon) and a better SSD seemed better than an RMA and waiting for weeks. That said, battery life unplugged isn't great, but the internals of this laptap are decent thanks to getting a 1060 gpu on a $699 laptop. If a new ssd fixes it, I'll update this review. Display is decent, ran his games during the short time for a solid 60 FPS or so (when plugged in), feels solid, nice keyboard. Not that it should matter, but I am A+ and Net+ certified and have built/ repaired dozens of PCs. I would highly recommend this at the price if it were working for more than a day. (Update) It was a failed ssd. I replaced it with a 512gb and later added a 1tb sshd. Son is very happy with it now.

Love the computer it’s battery life is alright but it is very comfortable computer it is big but not to big might not fit some laptop bags but it runs really good if you have it plugged in it run everything max on most game good for editing pictures too love the computer have had it I think almost two year it runs very well it does get loud if you are on it like 6 hours+

After 6 months of pulling my hair out I finally figured out what made this little sweetie freeze and heat up. For whatever reason, telling the programs to focus on the Nvidia GPU does not work. You must disable the onboard to get it to see the nvidia as what it needs. I finally figured this out after 6 month sand 1 repair visit where the guy couldn't figure out what was wrong either. Hope you get this great laptop, I play FFXIV on it for hours and it runs at top graphics barely warm. It's really worth it. I love Asus laptops. I'm not sure why the last one i had had a issue similarily where i ended up flashing the vbios because it was recording the wrong temperature. but well the startup is like 5 seconds. love it.

When you spend over 800 bucks on a "gaming laptop" you should at least be able to run some games on it. The GPU overheats very easily and then the laptop freezes or resets itself. This laptop is crap for gaming. Since I have to babysit the GPU temp while playing any game, I'm very disappointed with this. The only option is to set the fans to over boost which make the fans blast 100% non stop. Oh, not to mention that it's not possible to use the shortcut for the fan speed while in game... The laptop does not get enough airflow if it is sitting on a perfectly flat surface. I saw a 2 degree C temp drop as soon as I stick a pen under the back side to elevate it. Almost no 3rd party temp monitors work well with it, I ended up using 2 different apps at the same time to help keep an eye on it and had to use a second monitor. It really upset me when i found other gaming laptops made my Asus have just better fan control software from the manufacturer (Acer did a very good job on their software). This has severely damaged my opinion with Asus products. This is most likely the last Asus product I'll buy. #buyers remorse

I waited a few months to review this laptop to fully test it. I play a lot of games, some older, some newer and some that i have modded. The battery lasts a while when not on the charger when not playing a game. Everything loads extremely fast and I havent noticed any issues. I will say, the fan is very loud. and i HATE that you can't plug in an ethernet cable.

This thing is incredible for the price. The gtx 1060 can pretty much play everything I throw at it. I can play forza horizon 4 on high at 60fps 1080p, no issues what so ever. Very fast, probably gonna upgrade to 16gb of ram.

I love the design. Overheats but if you raise it a little then it performs great with all the latest games. Great product for 1.1k.

Not good battery life. However, its gaming performance is amazing for its price.
