Works as advertised.
Fair price too. I purchased these to replace an other 15 year old brand. Place them by my washer and near my water heater.

Small expense, huge savings
These are great. They work as advertised. I put one on the floor in my water utility closet with water heater, reverse osmosis filters, water softener and whole house water filter. Five days later I heard the alarm, It's loud. I checked the closet and sure enough the drain line for the softener system had split. I was very glad that I was able to catch it early and repair the line. Well worth the expense. Recommended.

Solid, cheap, practical drip detector for under six dollars. But screwing them on is a bit much.
It works. This unit went off at 2am and saved us a chunk o money in flood avoided. Solid, cheap, practical drip detector for under six dollars. But screwing them on is a bit much. Old school analog. Obviously, if you are (a) not at home and (b) cannot hear them --- they are useless. So (a) Get the smart units that send a message to your phone if you are away from home a lot. Next -- and this is important--- it is true as a couple reviewers have noted, the loudness of the alarm is (weirdly) impacted by how you screw the lid on. See pics. Basically, there is a vented 'hole' in the top of the unit. You want that hole clear (you should see a gold tone plate at the bottom) for the sound to emerge vehemently. Otherwise, the alarm is absolutely muffled and remarkably less loud. The problem is there are no markers to help you adjust your 'screw' to make sure the hole lines up with an open space underneath. If you only turn far enough to land the vented hole over something solid (like the battery) you lose, I'd say, about 30db in loudness. It's pretty annoying actually. So we gave up after screwing/re-screwing the first lid on about twenty times trying to get it just right. Eventually, we settled for most units just-sort-kinda right. See pic (pinkie is pointing towards the "open" correct orientation; the other is blocked and alarm is softer sounding). Picture of the single unit shows the gold tone plate underneath that you DO want to be able to see. Problem is... we only got one perfectly aligned like this. :-( Annoying.

Definitely a must have to detect leaks
I purchased these to alert me to water leaks. I live in an older condo with the air conditioner mounted above my hot water heater in a utility closet. The overflow drain clogged and it leaked down onto my hot water heater destroying it. I bought these to prevent another expensive disaster. I wondered how well it workedโฆ.until a year later my AC technician accidentally dripped a little water onto one of the alarmsโฆ.it worked well and very loudly. They would be great for under any sink to alert you of a leak. Someone suggested placing it on a folded paper towelโฆ.great idea!

The very minimum in features
Batteries not included no instructions no way to test the device and probably no warning for low battery

Saved us from suffering major water damage!
I installed 4 of these. Second day the alarm went off under my kitchen sink because the tap started leaking underneath and out of sight. Fantastic, replaced the faucet only instead of finding the leak days later. Cheap and simple but worked great for us.

They work.
I have no idea how long the battery will last with the thing just sitting on the basement floor waiting for water. It's not doing anything unless there's water so how long who knows???. I tested them by plunking them down on a bit of wetness on a counter top. They both screeched loudly. What more could you want?

Simple solution to water on the floor.
Tested these, and they work very well. I noted that some reviews cited "not loud", but they are! I did make a mistake intially and did not have the battery seated properly and the lid screwed back on completely, not so loud. BUT, I noticed that the little beeper did not line up exactly with the small grate on the lid. After adjusting the battery the lid screwed completly back into position - grates aligned -- Voila... very loud. Note, I could not establish battery life since I only installed them today. That said... a cost of a battery verses $$$ of water damage. You do the math. So overall... great price, fast delivery... and they do the job! (So far)

Basement water leak
My house is 150 yrs old with a stone basement. I do have the odd water leak after heavy rain or snow melting season. I tested these alarms and found they are loud enough to wake me up alert me to a water leak. I recommend them
