Really covers my greys and works itself well into my hair & roots. Not a bad smell, either, unlike other dyes. Gentle on my hair and conditions well, too. This is the only color that actually works to cover my greys...my natural color is dark brown. I usually just have to color my roots & sides to have full coverage.

Lots of brown hair dyes include way too much ginger tint. This one is not like that. It's also not a harsh black. Color lasts longer than competitors' products.

I like the smell of this hair color. Very simple to use and matches my natural hair color. It also gives you a big tube of moisturizer unlike Revlon.

I bought this to cover my greys for the first time and it worked great. I have thick, back length, dark brown natural hair, so I needed to boxes to cover my whole head. I think one box will be enough to touch up my roots moving forward. I didn't have grey all over, just a few that were poking through in the front and crown of my head. Thinking about mixing Jet black and the darkest brown for my next coloring just to cut through some of the coolness. Overall I'm pleased with the results.

This is my second time purchasing this. I absolutely love the color. It matches my natural hair perfectly covers blondes no matter how light, without it looking hollow. One pack also goes a long way and the smell is not as bad as other products I’ve used

Honestly the best hair dye you can buy in a box. It might not be the most expensive but my mother used this stuff for probably two decades or longer and when I finally grew out of highlights and changing my hair constantly this was my go to hair dye. I have had my hair professionally colored and it felt like straw, I have bought more expensive hair dyes and my hair felt like straw. I go back to this one every single time and my hair feels healthy and shiny and even a bigger compliment as the fact that no one knows that I color my hair. I will use this until I die or no longer have hair on my head

Like so many others, I am here to say they have changed the formula on this color! Clairol is saying that while they have changed it, the final color is still the same, AND NO -IT ISN'T!! It does not cover light out growth very well (a.k.a the occasional greys), and now this particular color "Brown Black 3" has a red/orange under tone, so that's what the light hair picks up the most. This was always a cooler shade of brown black, now it's a "warm" shade with the orangish tones. Unbelievable a company as large and well known as Clairol would pull this kind of crap! But, that's Capitalism my friends, they hope we spend a whole lot more money on their products trying to "correct" our hair color. I switched to another Clairol Shade the first time they changed the Dark Brown Permanent Color and warmed it up with a lot of nice orange undertones, and I changed to the Brown Black, now they have done the same exact same thing to this shade! I switched once with them, I will not give Clairol Corporation any more of my money! I am not going to keep experimenting with my hair color with this company. Clairol colors used to come out exactly as they are depicted on the boxes, they change the models hair color slightly so they can have plausible deniability. Most of us have been coloring our hair for some time, we just see our box and grab and go! I don't inspect my hair dye box every time I buy it looking for subtle changes. When L'oreal would change their box cover models, the color ALWAYS stayed the same! Not the case with Clairol!! I suppose I will be revisiting the L'oreal Color lines.
