I have v remote unoccupied house. area suffers power cuts so rcd or mcbs trip. could this be used to keep the mcb in on position?

NO. This should never be considered due to safety reasons. (You could end up with a fire in your house!). RCD’s and MCB’s should not trip when a power interruption occurs unless they are of the type with a no-volt tripping circuit. This suggests to me that there may be an electrical problem in your property and I can only suggest that you get a full electrical test undertaken by a qualified electrician.

Could these be used to keep an mcb On? ie to prevent mcb being switched off accidentally? Thanks

These devices are designed to lock an MCB in the OFF position so that they cannot be switched back on inadvertently by someone else, with the risk of injuring anyone working on the electrical circuit fed by that circuit breaker. They can be turned upside down and used to lock the circuit breaker in the ON position BUT they will not keep the MCB in the ON position as any circuit breaker can trip-to-off internally, powering OFF the circuit at any time. This result means that a fault or overload can trip the circuit breaker resulting in power being disconnected from the circuit breaker, but the locking device will continue to hold the MCB handle in the ON position, however the MCB will not be in the ON (LIVE) condition and the circuit will be dead.  Please note that it is extremely dangerous to attempt to do what I think you are trying to do.  Please do not try this under any circumstances.

I ordered these along with a lockout kit - I got the kit but not these - it shows on my account that the package was delivered but I only got the kit

What diamiter is the padlock hole ? will a standard loto padlock fit tgrough ?

The hole is about 7.5mm but remember to leave enough room for the bend of the hasp. I use a travel padlock, on the basis that it's there to stop someone accidentally removing it rather than anyone who is actively trying to kill me. ;-)
