effective & reliable. requires TLC. (in-depth review)
overall this robot is excellent & effective. it is also sophisticated and requires a fair amount of TLC. expect a learning curve, especially for initial configuration and to customize for your house. I have a single level 2k sq ft hard floor house. --⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because the performance far outweighs the negatives-- I bought this specifically because of the roller-style mop (with dirty water tank!) and ability to specify no-go areas to avoid cords. performance is excellent for both. GTK: - this X8 is nearly identical to the Yeedi S14. both brands are owned by the same company. filters are interchangeable. - there is an initial learning curve to figure out the app, settings, maintenance, how to unclog as needed, etc. after that hurdle (5 wks) I do love it. - thick wool carpets are basically not compatible (to be fair, these are tricky for anything except my Dyson upright) - it has trouble with my 3x5 Ruggable: slightly flips up the the edges & corners - the chenglish voice is amusing, but understandable. it says 'starting intelliGent (hard g) cleaning' & '*arrived* start time'. - hair: handles hair well - I have long hair. I also have a short haired dog that sheds a lot. it handles both well. - thresholds: I have low thresholds between wood & tile. it crosses these easily but occasionally leaves some debris (acceptable imho) - app: the android app is good & bug-free. scenario clean & schedule features are excellent. otherwise the UX is good-ish; moderately intuitive. it's extensive. took me a while to find all the important elements. Set up: - mapping UI is good & lots of features, but glitchy. initial setup is easy, but I spent at least a few hrs tweaking it. (for example, it's difficult to know precisely where to locate furniture or virtual boundaries because you can only see walls in that view. cleaning paths & current robot position are not displayed) - initially, plan to invest several hours over the first few weeks to set up & learn this robot & app. - the unit is larger than you might think from the pics. 18"dx14wx21h. i put it under a built-in cabinet-style desk, and it takes up ~60% of the knee area. Maintenance - there are several components to clean/maintain. they are easily accessible. - the app does a good job of notifying you when to do maintenance, with illustrations - the debris filter is under the top cover. this is not mentioned in the printed manual - there is a drain tray in the base. also not mentioned Special maintenance: - debris: my robot accidentally vacuumed a wet bathroom floor, which clogged the debris channel. took a bit to figure out how to remove components to unclog it, but overall I was impressed that the design makes all the channels accessible for maintenance. the robot did not alert me that it was clogged, but it was leaving large trails of wet debris. - mop: the channel to empty the dirty water became clogged. resolved after cleaning the drain pan & dirty water box new users: - I've had iRobots for many years so I wasn't surprised by the general traits. but here's are some points first any new users - this is about as loud as a normal stick vac. so you probably aren't going to want to read or watch tv while it's running. - it takes a long while to clean. it has to travel back to the base to empty debris & clean the mop. the vacuum then mop also requires extra travel time. it also cleans under furniture, so more area than an upright vacuum. - if you haven't used a robot mop or vacuum before, expect very dirty water & lots of debris collection for the first few weeks. (even if your house is already very clean) recommend empty the dirty water frequently to keep it fresh. for one thing it's cleaning *under* furniture.

Worst item ever
It worked fabulously for the first couple of months. I believe as it got closer and closer to the warranty expiring the more the vacuum cleaner acted up. At first it would just stop in the middle of a cleaning with no reason. Battery still had a charge, no obstacles, and regular cleaning pattern it does everyday. Then it would stop being able to collect the dirt from the dirt bin. I did a whole complete clean in the vacuum and followed detailed instructions from the app and internet. It still stopped within an hour of cleaning and also forgot all the settings. It would mop when it should vacuum and soil rooms with dirty water. It was definitely getting the schedule and room mapping wrong. Then the worst was when it decided to stop being able to talk to my WiFi. We of course couldn’t start or use the darn vacuum without WiFi. We contacted customer service which was as helpful as a random stranger asking for help on some aerospace engineering question. They did nothing. So needless to say I have a great and ugly expensive paper weight that does nothing but speak and say it’s connecting to WiFi but never does!!! Don’t worry I’ll tell everyone I know and keep republishing this on social media and every platform because obviously the company doesn’t want to help!! Don’t buy it!! It is a waste of huge expensive money that I which I knew was going down the drain. Seriously!!! The worst ever and I have owned other robot vacuum cleaners. It is mostly their customer service that stinks. At least the other ones tried to help.

good when it works, often doesn't work
Hello! I have had a more well known name brand floor robot in the past but that robot's app and map manipulation were sort of garbage--I had the same one for 5 years and it is still cleaning next door in my rental. There was a sale on this floor robot! I was ready to move on and move up and this floor robot had many things I wanted: a much better app, better mapping, better customization in the mapping, 2in1 vac/mop, self cleaning. The whole nine yards really. The app lives up to the hype. The machine, when it's working, does a great job. But I'm on iteration #4 and I made my purchase 8 months ago. My 1 year warranty is going to expire in the not too distant future and when whichever iteration I'm on by then inevitably fails again after the warranty is up, I'm going to have to purchase a new floor robot. If the failures were similar maybe I'd be less burnt but I've had a cleaning base stop powering on, a "navigation module" fail, and now all I can think is the ball bearings or a gear in the extendable arm with rotating brush have/has broken. The lowest F- for durability. For the record, customer service/tech support has been helpful, polite, and generally fairly efficient. Generally. Usually the replacement comes in less than 2 weeks. Once it took a month. My house has full time two fluffy husky mixes and a pair of cats, and I'm gone for a week at a time. I lean heavy on the floor robot in my home and I know it. That is why i maintain it. Interested puchasers should know the maintenance in this thing is no joke. The app flags parts for maintenance, has guides for completing it, and keeps a schedule for your which is slick. I wish I could modify that schedule to be more frequent than even required because there's a ton of hair in this place and it can cause problems in the water line, which system doesn't usually realize when it's flooding. Doesn't that sound delightful? Overall, value for money? I have to say it's extremely overpriced. I really want to love this thing and when it works it's a game changer but the QA process or internal build quality just isn't up to snuff. I've never been more disappointed in a fairly high end item.

Absolutely Worth It! Unboxing & Setup of My New Favorite Cleaning Helper
I purchased the Omni X8 mainly for vacuuming and mopping, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. After reading some negative reviews, I almost skipped it, but I’m glad I didn’t because my experience has been the complete opposite. The robot is incredibly smart. Before the first cleaning session, it automatically mapped my house, and the process was surprisingly fast. Navigation is excellent—it doesn’t bump into walls and furniture like some of my previous robot vacuums did, and it gets impressively close to the baseboards and edges, which was one of my biggest concerns. The mopping performance is fantastic. I love that it uses hot water, and my floors have never looked cleaner. It also explains almost every step before it performs it, which makes the whole experience very user-friendly. Battery life is outstanding it finishes at least 800 sq feet before its next charge (moping plus vacuuming). It’s early for me to evaluate the durability as of now it looks well built, and quality product. The station is easy to maintain: clean water goes on the right side, dirty water on the left, and the tanks clearly show the maximum fill levels. Everything is straightforward once you get familiar with it. The only tricky part I experienced was during the initial setup. My unit needed a software update, and until that update was installed, I had to manually return the robot to the dock. Since the back of the station isn’t visible from the front, finding the exact docking position took a little patience. However, once the update was completed, everything worked smoothly. Overall, I think this robot offers outstanding value for the money, especially with the current discounts available. It’s fast, intelligent, efficient, and has made keeping my home clean easier than ever. If you’re on the fence because of some negative reviews, I would encourage you to give it a chance. Based on my experience, I would absolutely buy it again.

Won’t last
Junk. Paid $1000 for this thing, genuinely thinking it was worth a higher price in order to aid in a lifestyle that is quite busy and out of the house - like a robotic maid in a small aspect. It did not even last one full year. It started out great, and for a few months I was thinking it was awesome! But even though I cleaned out the water bins, cleaned the hair off the roller brush, cleaned the components when it told me to, etc. it started acting weird around 8 months. Wouldn’t follow its map, would stop in the middle of the floor, so many weird things I couldn’t understand. Tried to update the app, restart the whole home dock, put in so many requests through customer service - did what they told me to do in their very long and detailed emails - nothing helped or fixed the problems. I wanted to return and get a refund but every customer service request just gave me the runaround with another long email. I also should have never purchased from Amazon - Costco only so if it turns out to be crap you can return it! Super disappointing.

Great cleaning performance and obstacle avoidance
The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni was a robot I purchased last year when it was newly released. In general this robot has been cleaning my house for over a year, while it may not completely replace the mopping and vacuuming I do at home, it does at least handle 80% of my cleaning activities on my 1500sqft+ house. Pros: - Love the obstacle avoidance. I have 3 kids at home, all under 3 years, and even when my kids stand in front of the X8, it avoids them and navigates around them. - It goes and charges back when battery is low and continues cleaning. - I have this set to clean every single day, and I love its AI that it detects some heavy stains and goes into mop only mode to try get rid of the stains and clean its roller mop water after the event. - It extends to the side corners, which my previous Roborock vacuum did not do. - Love the roller mop style vs the traditional circular mop pads. - Mapped my house perfectly Cons - It sometimes may get lost, but it's every once in a while. - Hoped it could be a little thinner so it could go below my dishwasher and TV furniture. It can't get to those areas by very few mm. - I had issues with the robot dying when battery was low and trying to get back to the dock. Thankfully customer support was quick on this and got a replacement robot and haven't faced issues since. - Sometimes getting to cleaning the mop pad and the mop tray, it causes odor issues, and sometimes it gets hard to get and clean, just so many parts to clean. Wish the maintenance could a bit less than other robots. In general, a great vacuum and mopping robot, especially given it was the first rolling mop technology on the ECOVACS products. I am very interested in upgrading to the X12 once that is released, but I'm happy with the robot so far and customer support.

Very satisfied with my robot vacuum and their customer service in replacing a defective machine
The Deebot Robot vacuum worked very well. However, after several cleanings I noticed the level of the Ecovacs cleaning liquid in the automatic dispensing container was not dropping. I contacted Ecovacs customer service reps and discussed the issue with them. After a couple conversations with Ecovacs customer service reps and following their instructions they determined that my machine was defective. They stated that this was a rare occurrence with their machine. Ecovacs explained that they would replace the machine in kind. I explained that since Ecovacs had a newer model available that I would like to return their defective machine and purchase their newer more expensive model. And I would just pay the balance owed between the cheaper defective model I was returning and their newer more expensive model. However, this was not an option according to Ecovacs customer representative. Ecovacs would only replace the model with exactly the same model that I was returning. It was not possible to trade up and purchase a newer more expensive model. Their refusal in not allowing me to trade up and pay the difference toward a more expensive newer model is the reason I only rated it as a 4 star review. I received my replacement Ecovac Deebot Robot and it has been working fine. I appreciate the quick response and help I received from Ecovacs customer service representatives.

App sucks and needs a complete rewrite.
We've had Deebot X8 for 2 months now. At first we weren't sure we liked it. Left streaks on floor. But, after forcing it to remop rooms several times it cleaned up years of ground in dirt and left fewer streaks. When you bucket mop a floor you end up mopping with a dirty mob and dirty water. Even with the two bucket method. We've programmed Deebot to vacuum and mop every day. Keeping everything clean makes it easier to clean. The phone app, on the other hand, needs A LOT of work. Not intuitive at all. Hard to program, hard to navigate back to all the various sub menus. We had defined a couple of no-clean zones. We still can figure out how to delete just the zone without deleting whole map and remapping. Also, can't figure out where to go to create new clean and/or no go zones. Luckily, fixing apps is easier than redesigning hardware. Update - just found out a firmware update removed my ability to define clean and no go zones. Worse app I've ever used.

GREAT product! Clean floors on demand!
Absolutely FANTASTIC! It is a bit noisy in the early hours of the morning when it starts. But you can start it whenever it suits you best. It cleans really well, easy to maintain and you can set your daily schedule as you wish. If you have an accidental spill, you can just send your deebot to clean it. LOVE it! I have had it for more than a month now, I wanted to ensure it was good before I posted a review. You can definitely make your life little easier with this robot vacuum.

What a let down
Carpet cleaning is good, hard floors are okay. Mopping is also good. But everything else is a big letdown. It gets stuck sometimes in the dark (it doesn’t have a light in the front). It can’t seem to dock properly in the dark and wanders about the whole house until it shuts down at some random location in your home. Battery run time is bad and charging it up takes so long. There is no “just mop” feature; it’s either mop and vac, vacuum only, or mop after vacuum. All in all I would give it 2 stars for its mopping performance.

Lots of fault compare to the other brands
Garbage in all aspects. I prefer other brands

The app / software makes it useless. Sadly.
Mops and vacuums well. But the app is the most bugged thing ever. Throwing error codes that doesn’t make sense and then it turns off everything when entering the docking station and goes offline. Now I spent 3 hours trying to reconnect it. But it simply won’t, so it’s pretty much useless now. Used it for 4 days, now have to return it. Sad cause it cleaned well. Could live with the app being bad, but when its not working at all 👎
