The ASUS ZenWiFi XT9 mesh system consists of a pair of ASUS AX7800 tri-band WiFi 6 mesh routers, featuring unique technologies that give you superfast, reliable and secure WiFi connections for your streaming videos, gaming and all other smart IoT gadgets. Disclaimer: Actual data throughput and WiFi coverage will vary from network conditions and environmental factors, including the volume of network traffic, building material and construction, and network overhead, result in lower actual data throughput and wireless coverage. Review: It's good, but You need to read this. - It's a great setup. Way faster than my older tp link setup. I recommend Asus but I HIGHLY recommend you use Ai to help you configure it properly. I'm a network technician, so please read this. There are an absolute TON of things you can configure. Way more than any other wifi router setup I've ever seen. Login on your computer. Open Google chrome and Hit the gemini button and share your screen with gemini. Ask gemini to help you configure this with best settings. Also be sure to check the error logs and use Ai to clear up any of the issues that may be showing up there. Review: Reliable mesh network with ZenWiFi XT9 - I bought them to extend my existing ASUS XT9 mesh network. It was easy to set up with the ASUS app. The network is stable and provides great coverage over every corner of the house and in the yards. XT9 has advanced features that tech savvy users will find useful. But out of the box, it works great without any further tinkering.

A pain to setup, but worth the hassle.
Got this as a refurb. Setting it up took a couple of hours - had to update firmware and work around some app issues - but has extra security features baked in, does not require a software subscription, and has been notably faster with better range than prior setup, which was TP-Link Archer with an extender.

Perfecto!
This item was an inexpensive way to completely blanket my home with wi-fi. No dead spots anywhere! The cost was 50% less than a new set and there's no difference in performance. In fact, this item is slightly newer than my existing set so I made THIS ITEM my router and my existing set my satellites! No issues whatsoever.

Easy to setup and integrate well with existing XT8s
I already had 2 XT8s. I promoted one of these to primary and now have 1 Xt9 and 2 XT8s making yup my AIMesh network. Work great. Strong signal and easy to setup.

Blocked Homelab/Server Access
I wanted to upgrade from my old mesh setup but this isn't it. The UI is a bit clunky but the killer was the fact that I couldn't access local services. As soon as I got this set up and connected I lost access to my personal server running UnRaid and I lost access to my smart home controller (mini PC) running Home Assistant. I tweaked the settings over and over and over, factory reset several times, and made sure the firmware was up-to-date, but I could never dial it in. The only time I could access my services locally were in-between router reboots. Accessing remotely didn't work at all. I've read other reviews saying specific services were blocked and support couldn't figure it out either. Seems like the only good networking equipment these days is for enterprise environments. The rest is consumer-grade slop.

Great Potential, Unstable Firmware
This mesh router has the best WiFi 6 hardware I've used, together with a great user interface. It is dual band at 5 GHz. Both bands support 160 MHz Wifi 6 data at 1.2 Gb/s, faster than gigabit ethernet. By default, one band is configured for your devices, the other for WiFi backhaul. Configured that way, it will deliver 1+ Gb/s to devices connected through a satellite. Problem is, it is just not stable with two 160 MHz channels configured. After a few hours to a few days it gets into a mode where transmission degrades to about 20-30% of nominal. It stays that way until you give it a power cycle, a retrain cycle, or some kind of reconfiguration that forces a retrain cycle. Then it is good again. For a while. I tried different versions of the firmware on my router. All had the problem. By the time you read this, Asus may have fixed it. Or not. It's one of those intermittents that take time to reproduce. This is a low end unit, usually sold a discount, so its probably not getting much love. That's a shame, because for most people, it's the best mesh router out there. I got tired messing with the problem. and returned my units. I don't have the test equipment or the source code to fix it myself.
