Selle Royal Womens Respiro Moderate MTB/Road Bicycle Saddle

At last, a comfortable ladies seat for my hybrid bike. My bike rides are usually around 20-30 miles on mainly road and gravel paths, but after 3-4 miles, I am usually fidgeting on my seat trying to stop pain in my bum bones and lady bits. I am average build/weight (size 12) and have previously tried most seats from bike stores/shops. This one is amazing. The seat feels cushioned when riding on bumpy terrain, but not bouncy. It just absorbs the shocks. It’s comfortable in an upright or slightly more aggressive riding position. I’m pleased to say, no more bruised bum bones or swollen lady bits after a full day riding 👍

I bought a new woman’s hybrid bike and the saddle it came with was for me unusable so I swapped on my old selle royal gel saddle which is about 20 years old. But I was still finding the ride incredibly uncomfortable, particularly over bumps. I honestly did not expect a lot from this saddle as I thought my old one was pretty good. However this saddle has transformed my cycling experience. I was not sure what saddle to buy but went with the name that I knew. I ride every day for fitness maybe 15 -20 miles and am inclined at about 60 degrees. This saddle is unbelievably comfortable. What surprised me most was that it reduces the shock of potholes etc extremely well. My whole body is no longer jarred by going down holes in the road. The saddle also seems to provide support where needed. Sitting back on the saddle the gel at the back is very comfortable and it’s long enough to support me well if I cycle more aggressively and lean forward. It also looks really smart. All in all an excellent item.

My previous gel saddle (on a second hand bike) was ripped up, so I needed a new one. I decided to splurge a bit, and the difference in riding comfort is amazing. The saddle is well padded, with extra suspension gel helping to dampen down road bumps and cobblestones. It's wide enough to support my sit-bones centrally with no pain even on long trips (the last saddle rested on inner sit-bones and caused a lot of pain initially). The padding is elastic and supportive, and the ventilation system is brilliant on sweaty rides. After a few months of use the logos are starting to wear off, but otherwise saddle is like new.

Not as soft as I expected but it is still the best one after trying a few other Selle saddles in the same price range.

This has transformed my ride. Used to get quite saddle sore after a long ride, but this has made a big difference.

Needed a saddle for new mountain bike & hadn’t a clue what 2 choose - so glad I got this one, it’s fantastic! So comfy & don’t need padded cycle shorts either! Win win

Tried the lady then the diva. Which were good but would not have been able to cycle longer distances on them. Then got the royal rapido. Absolutely fantastic. Rode all the way from London to Amsterdam for charity. Couldn't have done that on any other saddle and I tried a few !!

Quite simply the most comfortable bike seat I have ever owned. It replaced a much wider, more padded sprung seat which was being rubbed by my thighs due to the width of the nose. This seat is wide enough for comfort without any restriction in the movement of my thighs and because it has dampeners rather than springs I'm not being bounced around as much on bumpy roads. I found I was constantly changing position on the old seat after being bounced forward but on this saddle I just sit in the same position throughout the bike ride. The gel inserts work really well, much firmer than the padding in my old seat but still does a good job of stopping any pressure or discomfort. I ride a hybrid bike in a inclined position (45-60 degrees) so chose the moderate saddle as per Selle Royal's recommendations. I don't wear padded cycling tights and never have and cycle between 20-25 miles, 3-4 days a week using this saddle and have never experienced any soreness. I'm also very thin so you'd expect if padding was an issue I'd know all about it! I'm not sure about the air vent but I didn't sweat in summer so that's a good indication and I haven't noticed any cold air spoiling my fun when cycling in temperatures close to zero. This is also a very well made saddle with a weatherproof cover so I expect it to last for several years unlike my Velo saddle where the vinyl cover started to separate and peel off within a year! One final point, apart from the slightly narrower width and slight increase in length there's not much difference between the mens and ladies versions of this saddle. My partner also has this women's saddle and finds it every bit as comfortable as I do despite his much heavier weight and he has a mountain bike, also riding 20-25 miles, 3-4 days a week without padded tights.

Got this for an indoor spin bike to replace the uncomfortable factory seat that I've been using for about two years. I've experienced lower back pain, tailbone sensitivity, and pinched nevers in the leg upon using this bike 2-3x/week (2-3 hours total). I tried several different new saddles, mostly in the $20-30 CDN range. These were for sure an upgrade over my original saddle, but only about a 3/5 or 4/5, so I kept looking and upped my budget... In my new budget, I only tried the Selle Royal Respiro and that's all I needed. I'm sure different saddles will suit different people in different ways, so I'm 5'3" 125-135lb athletic build female for the record. There are different sizes so you might want to measure your sits bones to get an exact fit, but the medium size works for me. When I resume an upright position after a long interval I usually experience a rush of pain and this was the only seat that I found I could sit upright @ 90 degrees with no pain. There is a decent gap where my tailbone doesn't take on any of the pressure. And the front of the seat is narrow enough to prevent chaffing. There is a design element not seen in Amazon's pictures, where the seat is vented through the front to the top of the seat, this doesn't benefit me for indoor biking but I imagine it would be of great help in a hot outdoor setting. Also, a huge bonus is a label acknowledging safe materials used. I did question a little what exactly was in some of the cheaper saddles that I experimented with. I can have peace of mind knowing the Selle saddle has been tested to meet safe standards (product composition becoming increasingly important as consumers are becoming more aware). Thank you Selle!

Comfy, but a bit tricky to install. Take a lot of patience to install.
