Quick and obvious
The tests work quickly, with the tip changing very obviously when lead is present. Easy to use. Downside is it leaves behind pink residue but that can easily be wiped up.

Easy To Use
I’m glad I found these because I’ve been learning about how harmful lead can be for our health. I’m making switches all over my kitchen and these swabs help me identify what is high quality and what needs to be let go of. They’re really easy to use and understand as well.

Doesn’t work
I really wanted to test several of my kids toys around the house. I was happy to see that everything I tested was negative for lead! I then was like maybe I should test something that I know has lead in it to make sure it is accurate. I tested some crystal I had that has lead and even says that is contained lead on the sticker. Sure enough, it was negative. Don’t waste money. I should’ve listened to the other reviews.

Does it work? Who knows!
I wanted to love this. I really did. The instructions are simple, the swabs are individually wrapped, and the price is decent. But after three tests—including one on a cast iron pan I’m almost certain has lead—I’ve yet to see a single positive result. Either I’ve unknowingly built my life around lead-free perfection (doubtful), or these swabs are handing out false negatives like candy. And here’s the thing: where’s the control test?! How do I even know if this product works? A little test strip that turns color to confirm the swabs are functional would be chef’s kiss—but without it, I’m just standing here, swabbing things like a detective with no clues. I appreciate the price point, and maybe this kit works. Maybe. But until I see proof, I’ll be switching to AssuTest, which I know actually detects lead. If you want peace of mind, this kit might give it to you—but whether it’s real or just blissful ignorance? That’s the real mystery.

Faint reading but it works for the price
It does the job and was one of the cheapest. Some just require soaking in water and this one requires scissors. It also doesn’t have much liquid so the yellow was fainter and faded more when using it compared to another brand I have tried. As a result I had to peer closely to make sure I was seeing the pink color. I wouldn’t recommend for someone with less good eyesight. I would recommend for someone looking for a cheaper test. Storage takes up less space as it’s a narrow cardboard box versus some that are plastic tube holders. My experience was a 3 star and I’m unlikely to buy again but I’m giving it a 4 because it works and you get what you pay for.

Useful all-in-one test for lead
We were able to find a few sources of lead that we discarded after testing revealed unsafe lead. One item was a stainless steel water pitcher. The weld contained high amounts of lead. It is good for peace of mind when buying products manufactured overseas having little to no oversight on product safety.

Easy to use
My daughter in law suggested I get this kit to test my grandmother’s china which I use for holidays. Kit very easy to use. It did test positive for lead unfortunately. I also tested my dishes which are from 1974 and was glad they are ok. Nice to know both ways.
