This isn't something that you can just add to your shower. It has to be installed when your shower base is built or remodeled. We paid a plumber to install our new shower drain. I did the tile work. The contractor grade drain that they installed was a pretty ugly round thing, screwed into a PVC base that was holding the PVC liner that makes our shower waterproof. As the boss was going with brushed nickel fittings that she liked, I ordered this one. Yeah, it isn't brushed, but it's on the floor, right? Really, who would notice?? Anyway, I screwed out the ugly one that the plumbers put in and put this in its place. It screwed right in without any muss or fuss and I went about building the mud bed and installing the tile. One hint: put plenty of blue painters tape (or an equivalent) over the pretty shiny metal so that you don't scratch it up with your concrete tools or tile grout. Once the tile work was done, peeling off the tape revealed a really pretty drain in that shiny nickel finish. We really like it - eventhe boss, and she's pretty picky. Good thing, beause replacing it would mean breaking up the tile and the shower base around that thing, and that's just not going to happen.
