Ghost Pepper Seeds- 25+"Bhut Jolokia by Ohio Heirloom Seeds

These grew just fine and were actually very tasty. I do like spicy food. I love the taste of Jalapeños, but find they are not hot. Hate the taste of habaneros, but like the heat. These are perfect as they taste like very spicy Jalapeños. They were a bit slow to grow, however they did grow and produced a lot of very tasty ghost peppers. So far my favorite hot pepper. You do need to be a little careful, as they are ghost peppers and are hot. A little will do you right.

I planted these on the 7th of October. I placed them on a heating pad set to 85. Kept consistently moist but not too soggy and saw no germination after a month and a half. Yes, I understand this is winter; however, some of my more mature pepper seedlings are thriving indoors and I planted several other pepper cultivars at the same time, which sprouted and are growing. I am giving a 5-star review due to his customer service. I am excited to put these in my AeroGarden Farm 24XL and see if I have better results. I can't wait to put these in some salsa with my homegrown tomatoes next year!

I’ve successfully grown over 30 pepper plants from seed across about half a dozen different varieties, and every single one has set fruit -- except these. Not only was the germination rate poor (around 25%, which I’ve occasionally seen with rarer varieties), but the plants I did manage to raise for over a year turned out to be completely sterile. What makes this so disappointing is that I invested a lot of effort into adjusting their environment in hopes of triggering fruit production: more light, less light, higher and lower temperatures, different fertilizing schedules, drier and wetter soil -- nothing worked. The flowers never developed receptive stigmas, which means pollination is impossible and fruit will never set. After all that time and care, it’s frustrating to end up with plants that are essentially useless for growing peppers.

All the seeds germinate for me. However, I was expecting all red ghost chilis. Some pants gave me peach ghost peppers (those in the middle of my photo). Still 5/5 pleasant surprise.

Quite pricey for the amount of seeds you get, but they all germinate. It's a very vigorous grower. Keep in mind that they can ripen after being picked. Don't throw the orange and green ones away at the end of the season. From a bag of 200-300 green ones at least 80-90% turned red after a few days.

Pretty low germination rate with these. Experienced gardener.

I germinated the seeds for 3 days before planting in a seedling mix. I have a grow box and put them in there. It took a bit over a week (even 2 weeks) for sprouts to appear and I got about an 85% return on sprouts to seeds planted. Our soil in this part of Florida is loaded with nematodes and I learned the hard way not to plant peppers in the ground. I did two batches of seedings and transplanted the first batch into small containers before they go into the larger pots tha will be their home. The seedlings look pretty healthy but I won't know what the yield is for at least a month or two. The seedlings are all flowering as of late April. Late July: One plant is fruiting. It's late July and one of the plants is fruiting after several months of dropping flowers. Several of my larger plants were attacked by hornworm caterpillars and nearly stripped. They'll survive but are slowed drastically. As for the fruit: I like heat but this blew my mind. I'll turn these into chili powder. I put part of one in my chili and it lit me up. I've never had a fresh ghost pepper. It is super-hot. Wow. After the hornworms came the whiteflies. They demolished everything. Finally got them under control with soapy water. The 2 largest plants are finally yielding a decent number of peppers. My tabasco pepper is fully recovered from the whiteflies. The cayenne isn't far behind. It's almost winter here in central Florida and if we don't get a freeze, I should have a pretty good crop in spring.
