The reliability of rollerball in a "buy it once" chassis
This pen is as solid as it looks. I like a pen with heft, and this sucker has it. Stainless steel barrel, sturdy clip, and that bolt-action mechanism is a nice touch. If you look closely, you'll see there is a bit of inward curve at the grip point to add an ergonomic touch to it. Overall the details are nice and it has nothing extraneous; no kludgy "high tech" crap that makes it look like a bad Star Trek prop. And the finish, whether it is shot-peen or sandblast, I can't say, feels comfortable to the fingertips. There's no rubber or silicone on it; just that simple, ageless steel that's built as if "worn out" should never, ever apply to such a thing. It appears to take standard rollerball cartridges, though I have read that Pentel brand refills are slightly thicker than standard. The pen came with several refills instead of just the one in the pen itself, and they all fit perfectly. If you own an electric drill and some 220-grit paper, you can fit the too-thick cartridge into the chuck like a drill bit and spin it while pinching some paper around the last 1/4 inch where the tip is inserted. Then test it against the pen tip to make sure it slides in and out without resistance. I'm not deducting a star for that, because as I said, it may be Pentel's problem. Manufacturers sometimes love to pull that kind of thing in order to hijack a standard or effect product lock-in, but it's a pen refill, for heaven's sake! Overall, this is an excellent value for the money. I wouldn't be embarrassed to give this pen as a gift to somebody who likes things that are comfortable but durable.

Solid and silky smooth pen
I bought this because I was tired of pen clips breaking off. The bolt action was a curiosity more than anything, as was the "tactical" nature. To be honest, it's probably not the absolute best in any particular category, but it is hands down one of the nicest overall pens I've ever owned. It's heavy compared to an all plastic pen, but not too heavy - it's a good weight. It's all metal, so it's been durable so far. The bolt action works well, though it's a little gritty for my taste. It's very comfortable to hold and use. I like the fine line and smooth writing, though I prefer the Sharpie gel pens for ink flow. For the price it's a much better pen than I expected, we'll see how it holds up over time and dealing with refills. I don't know that I'll ever use it in a tactical manner, so your mileage may vary on that aspect.

A great, affordable EDC option that’s built like a tank and writes well.
I have a couple more expensive machined aluminum pens that I love, but wanted something I could carry and not have a stroke if I lost it. This pen is beefy and a bit heavy, so if you don’t like that you probably wont like this chonker. I don’t mind a weighty pen, so this was okay by me. The supplied ink was really finicky for my taste, I tried another included refill and it worked much better, but I preferred G2 refills so I replaced it with a G2 and it writes beautifully. (In fairness, this thing is supplied with 5 refills, and they don’t seem bad, so thats a nice pro for this pen.) I used to carry a Zebra F750 and it was great, but the joint between the two halves was plastic and prone to breakage. This bad boy is solid steel (or whatever) and it’s not going to break under normal use. The bolt action works well, however mine is a little gritty feeling. It functions as designed, it doesn’t get stuck or feel wonky or cheap, so I’m thinking it with smooth out over time. This is a good pen for the price. It looks much more expensive than it is, it writes well enough with supplied extra ink, and the body is built like a tank. I’m hoping the mechanicals hold up over time - they seem robust and I see no readon they wouldn’t, but at $13, this thing is a great value.

EDC Worthy. Durable, Simple, and Feels Right in Hand.
The Origin-Joy Stainless Steel Bolt Action Pen is a pretty good everyday carry pen, especially for the price. It has a nice weight to it and feels sturdy in the hand without being uncomfortable to write with. The bolt action is smooth and satisfying, and it gives the pen a cool, tactical feel. It writes cleanly and consistently, though it is not the absolute smoothest pen on the planet. The build quality seems reliable enough for daily use, pockets, bags, and work environments. Overall it is a well-made, good-looking pen that does its job well without needing to be perfect. If you want something durable and a bit more interesting than a regular pen, this is a solid pick.

Great pen!
This is a great pen! Much better than I had anticipated, as a lefty I am pretty picky about my pens but this writes very well even on a metal clipboard for work. It has very good heft and a strong clip!

Great looking garbage.
Being a pen enthusiast that collects inexpensive pens, somewhat expensive pens, and everything in between, I’d been interested in seeing what Origin-Joy had to offer. They are a little less expensive than Smootherpro offerings, which I’ve found to be everything from decent to outstanding especially considering how relatively inexpensive they are. Finally decided to give this one a try and to say the least, it was the most epic bust I’ve ever gotten from a pen. The fit and finish looks nice, and the pen feels very good in the hand. The biggest hangup? The bolt action, which gets nothing BUT hung up. I tried different springs, I tried oil on the bolt itself, but it just refused to work. This pen is straight trash, or at least the one I received was. Buyer most definitely beware. I’d encourage you to spend an extra $5 and get a Smootherpro, if you're wanting a relatively inexpensive, but sturdy and well built pen that isn’t $50 or more. Or the $8 Sharpie S-Gel that I received the same day as this nonsense. Lone upside to my experience is it came with 4 refills, plus the cartridge that came in the pen. So 5 Pilot G2 gel refills for $15. A bit pricey, but a decent consolation prize, I guess.
