This an excellent outdoor wifi extender for our homestead. We had the other model for years & it really took a beating! Lol 😂 held up well so we bought the new model. The signal strength & range are great. I highly recommend this extender. The new one has plastic brackets to secure the antennas nicely, it’s well made & durable. With our starlink I am sure neighbors far off are seeing the network now 😂

I purchased the WAVLINK AC1200 Outdoor WiFi Extender to bridge the dead zone between my house and my shop, located about 300 feet from the house, but all metal construction. Overall, it’s a solid 4-star performer. The signal strength is impressive. It easily maintains a stable connection over several hundred feet of open yard. The unit feels durable, and the IP65 weatherproof rating is a must for outdoor mounting. The four high-gain antennas provide excellent coverage, though the 5GHz band stays fairly localized compared to the 2.4GHz. The packaging was secure, but the instructions were sparse. The management interface was tricky to access; I had to disable my mobile data on my phone to get the setup page to load. Also, be aware that while it uses PoE, it wouldn't power up from my standard PoE switch—you really have to use the included passive PoE injector. For the price, the WAVLINK AC1200 offers great value for anyone needing to extend their network to outbuildings, provided you have the patience for a bit of troubleshooting during the initial install.

I've tried plenty of cheaper WiFi extenders before, and most of them ended up slowing my connection so much that they felt pointless. This one has been a totally different experience. It extends the signal well without dragging down my speeds, which was my biggest frustration with other extenders. The long-range coverage has been great for my patio and backyard. That was the main reason I bought it, and it's done a much better job than the budget options I've used before. One of my favorite features is the PoE setup since I'm not limited to placing it near an outlet. It gave me more freedom to put it where coverage was needed most. It feels well-made for outdoor use and has held a stable connection in areas where my old extenders struggled. WiFi is stronger, more reliable, and far more usable outside now. For anyone tired of cheap extenders reducing connection speed, this one is a real significant upgrade.

Needing to cover some wi-fi dead spots on my property, I decided to look into some wi-fi extenders. Then I was introduced to this WavLink AC1200 extender. The main intent for my initial acquisition of this extender was to deploy it outside, however due to the current weather, I decided to try it indoors within my home. Assessing the range indoors is will certainly be a different result than outside due to obstacles such as floors and walls, whereas, outside the signals can travel mostly unobstructed comparatively, especially if there is line of sight between the transmitter and reciever. Setup of the unit first requires assembly. Following the included assembly instructions is pretty straightforward. The only problem I ran into was the rubber seal. The ethernet cable is to be surrounded by the rubberseal indicated in the manual. The issue is the rubber seal has a tiny hole in the middle of it which is only large enough to fit the ethernet CABLE it self through but not with the plug end. So the only way I found to accomplish this was to cut a slit in the rubber seal and slide the cable in laterally so the plug is on the other side of the seal and the cable is nested in the middle of the seal (see photos). Once assembled, the unit is quite attractive. Although it is plastic, it feels durable and constructed for longevity. It does come with a patch cable, power adapter, and mounting screws and anchors. During setup and to this day I am confused as to why there are two ethernet ports on the unit. It is a POE device. POE allows for bidirectional data flow in addition to power all running on the same single ethernet cable. This extender comes with a rudimentary POE injector which is needed if you are not plugging directly into a POE switch. I opted not to use the injector, as I have POE switches. The WavLink Extender can function in 3 different modes. 1)AP (access point). 2)Repeater. 3). Extender. I did try to set-up each of the modes, during which I did have difficulty. Going back to the aforementioned two ports on the unit, this caused confusion. In AP mode, It seems like there are supposed to be 2 cables plugged into the unit at the same time. The strange part about it, when you consider the rubber seal and the bottom cap of the unit where the cable(s) are to protrude, there is only room for one cable. I eventually got it setup in AP mode, but it has presented some difficulty.A big downside is I can not after setup access the configuration page of the extender. When I enter its IP address, I received the following error "Rejected request under RE mode." So that has yet to be overcome. As stated earlier I am deploying this unit indoors initially. I have a 4-story home which included a finished basement and attic. The unit is in the center of the house in the basement. Without the ability to tweak any of the settings from the unit's configuration pag due to the fact it is inaccessible, the results of wi-fi coverage I get are not optimal. On the 3rd level of the home almost directly above the unit the signal recieve2 out of 5 bars. This is having to go through to floors though. I will continue to test this uit out and update later. For now, I can see its potential untapped value. I am pleased.

Update .. Installed one at each of two homes I maintain. First one I installed July 2025, and it was great, so great that I ordered one for the other home... However, less than a year later (May 2026) this unit failed. Totally unreliable. I installed at the second home before the first one had failed. First one shipped was a dud... Returned and second one was a dud. Third worked like a charm, and to this day is still working. However, I have every expectation that this one will fail after a year. Original review: We have a couple of acres in the back yard. We placed this about 150' from the router, outside. It had no problem picking it up. We gave it the same SSID (name( and password as the house wifi, so when you go out, it is seamless. The coverage is phenomenal! Highly recommend, and I will be purchasing another one for a different property.
