This knife is perfect for slicing homemade bread. I was searching for an alternative to the expensive bread knife I have. My manual knife is sharp and cuts bread, but the slices have to be thick, and there aren’t smooth edges. After researching breadmaking websites, the consensus was an electric knife. I searched the reviews on Amazon, and this one, in particular, had lots of reviews from people who make their own bread. After receiving, I cut a loaf of Italian bread, and the electric knife went thru the dense bread like butter! Thin slices and perfect. The slice in the pic on the top is cut with this electric knife. The one on bottom was cut with my expensive serrated bread knife. (The reason it’s thin is because the other side was cut with the electric knife! 🙂)I recommend this inexpensive electric knife for breadmakers. It works very well.

I bought this knife for cutting up a boneless sofa I had previously purchased. I was not happy with the sofa which was huge at 91.7” in length. I know that electric knives are best for cutting into foam. Well I must say that the knife did a wonderful job cutting up a massive foam sofa. It took me two days but the result is fantastic. This is a wonderful electric knife.

This BLACK+DECKER electric carving knife has become a daily workhorse in my kitchen for slicing homemade sourdough bread. For that purpose, it works extremely well and was priced right. The blades cut cleanly and evenly through crusty loaves.I did remove one star because assembling and disassembling the blades is a bit confusing. To avoid frustration, I leave the blades assembled. It also didn’t perform as well as I hoped on a Thanksgiving turkey, but that’s not what I purchased it for. If bread slicing is your main goal, this is a solid choice. If you’re buying primarily for carving meats, you may want to compare other options.

Works Great. Makes cutting and slicing so much easier. We buy frozen pies and while it is still frozen I take the pie and slice it with my electric knife and it make it look like it came from a bakery shop... Thanks

Haven't used it yet but put it together people mentioned blades were difficult to install, but I had no problems goes in easy and comes out once the button is pressed. When pressing the button to cut it seems to run adequately. I do not for see any problems good price for the product.

Works great…super easy to clean, simply remove the blades and pop them in the dishwasher. Also appreciate the safety switch which prevents accidents.

update on my review:This is week 3 and the knife started messing up for me. I was slicing a couple of loaves of bread with it and it stopped working so I thought it might just be overheated. I let it sit for about half an hour & when I tried again it worked for a couple of minutes, then stopped again so I thought, "ok, I didn't let it cool down enough yet." So I let it sit for about 90 minutes or so and the same situation- it worked for a minute or two and then stopped. I had to get a return label for it because I won't keep an instrument like this that works so poorly. If an electric knife can't handle a couple of loaves of bread then it's not a good knife and that is disappointing since Black & Decker's always delivered quality, in my own experiences. Hopefully, the replacement knife will work much better. I will say that Amazon was quick and prompt with handling the return & exchange so I'm happy with Amazon.I've been trying my hand at making homemade bread and of course, the biggest pain has always been slicing the bread nicely. With a manual serrated knife I can get some of the bread sliced nicely but not as thinly as I'd like and then of course, you reach the stage where the bread doesn't slice nicely anymore at all with a manual knife so I was looking for other ways to do this without buying an expensive meat slicer. I was looking into those bread slice boards that are available that give you the proper spacing of where to cut the bread but considering all they do is stand there while you slice, the prices seemed a bit steep for this frugal fellow. I looked into electric knives and decided to take a chance on this since it had a lot of great reviews and I have to say, as much as I HATE spending money on things, this was an excellent investment.Now mind you, I'm reviewing this knife after about 2 weeks of using it so I can't speak for the longevity of the knife but I can tell you that it works absolutely perfectly on slicing homemade bread. I have used it on homemade white bread, homemade french bread loaves so far and I get amazingly thin slices of bread- as good as you would get from store bought slices, only they obviously taste a whole lot better and at least you know what you're putting into your body. I really recommend this electric knife; it's easy to use, easy to clean and for the price, it can't be beat, in my opinion.

I researched all kinds of electric carving knives at prices up to overt $150 before deciding to try this one. I've used this electric carving knife on several turkeys, a few chickens, some roasts and a couple of ham legs with great success. I was worried that the seemingly loose blade assembly would be a problem but it has cut extremely well every time. Slices come out smooth and the meat is not torn up. Cutting speed is excellent and doesn't require very much downward force to happen. Black+Decker has made an excellent product and Amazon sold it at a great price. Thank-you very much!
