Only one wing nut shy of perfect AWESOMENESS!
Very sturdy, and it's been super handy. I attached it to my mic stand, and it keeps everything I need within easy and quick reach. I generally put a tambourine and a cowbell on the hooks, and sit miscellaneous stuff on the shelf - drumstick, cell phone, lip gloss, small props I use during my shows, etc.). The ONLY downside that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that it is a bit of a pain when I break down at the end of a show. It attaches to the stand with a metal bracket with 2 screws on either side of the stand/pole - one is a standard hex nut and the other is a wing nut. In my case, I lower my mic stand for transport after the shows, and I can't simply remove the tray like I do my iPad mount and cup holder. I keep a little slack on the hex nut side, so I can loosen the wing nut enough to be able to lower the tray, and then leave it attached. That sometimes makes the tray a little un-level, and makes my mic stand a bit cumbersome to carry and pack. So, I think it would be better if it had two wing nuts, and I may try to find one at the hardware store to replace the hex nut. Aside from that little issue, I'm loving this thing, and I don't even care that my band guys call my mic stand the "Frankenstand". ;-)

Good for reed players, but awkward schlep
Really high quality in terms of ruggedness and load bearing, especially considering price. One star off awkwardness in transport and heaviness. The weight is both pro and con... is made of steel with welds to join most of the parts quite solidly. For my application -- oboe player using for reed, tools, tuner and such -- is good but not great, but super value. Given the dearth of widely available alternative products, this one does the job quite adequately. For percussion folks I'd expect this is more ideal, as that is what it was designed for.BTW the "hanger" underneath, which seems intended for triangles and such, can easily be removed when not needed. Instructions? There aren't any, at least not in my package. The mounting hardware has only being one "wing nut" as the design is to leave the other nut -- hex nut -- more-or-less set in one place according to the diameter of the stand you are mounting onto. Then swing the notched bar around, twirl the wing nut, and there you go. Another wing nut would get in the way.

Nice for its purpose.
This is heavier than it looks. But is suppose that goes with being very well built. If used on a tri-foot stand (the most common), it throws off the center of gravity, as does stacking music on the rack. So be watchful that the gig tray is over a stand foot or around back if there is heavy music stacked on the rack. Load the gig tray and music rack, then test the stand for stability.

Upgrade that music stand!
This works well on a music stand as an accessory tray for mouthpieces, reeds, metronome, etc. (I'm a woodwind player, but one of my trumpet friends uses this for mutes.) The two hanging hooks add space for neckstraps and swabs. I was concerned about the tray making the stand top-heavy, but that has not been a problem. The size of the tray is perfect...large enough for several items but small enough to be out of the way of the player. The clamp is typical of a percussion clamp....two adjustable bolt/nuts, one a wing nut for tightening. The cross piece is slotted on one side so it can be flipped over after a few turns of the wing nut. It is designed for tubular stands such as music stands, cymbal stands, etc. It will not work well on square tubing.

Gig Tray Works, But Requires Modification
This is the only gig tray I've seen. It is heavy, solid, and has a non-slip soft rubber mat inside the tray, which is great. The hanging 'hook' thing is kind of cheesy in design, especially in the way it is attached. Not all that secure for hanging things. The idea is the tray will be clamped onto a mic, or other stand, but we machined and attached a plate onto the bottom that would allow it to be screwed onto a beefy mic stand adapted for this use alone. Much more stable. If you used the clamp as designed, this tray is heavy enough to make it probable you would crush your mic stand to some degree before you stepped back and watched it tipped over.Bottom line is it is solid, but requires rethinking how to set it up for secure use.

Great tray for my hand percussion
This was exactly what I needed. Attaches well to a stand and is sturdy.

Solid quality that works!
Quality. Solid. Heavy duty. Stays put! All things I was worried about when considering. Mine is attached to cymbal stand closest to hi hat. Keeps percussion sticks, drum tuner, etc. all in one place vs. on the floor or on a sheet music stand. Highly recommended!

VERY glad I purchased this!
Recently purchased this gig tray, along with a Gibraltar clamp for my tambourine. Added both to a second mic stand and have attached a clamp for my iPad above this. I'm super pleased! This unit is heavy duty, good quality and holds my tambourine, shaker, throat spray and occasional shot or bourbon to sip while singing. There's a rubbery insert to keep everything from scooting around or vibrating. I have everything in one spot which I set at about "1:00 position" from my vox mic stand. So glad I purchased!
