Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware, Dutch Oven, 5-quart

I love this pot! The size is a good one for me as I seem to always end up overfilling my other pots. This one I can just throw in whatever I want and it is plenty big enough without being a huge, deep stock pot. The flat bottom is nice on my ceramic top stove, very smooth. The quality is excellent for home cooking. I’m sure there are elite brand pots for hundreds of dollars more but this one can be classed as a sort of basic, entry level pot for higher quality cookware. It can easily last a lifetime and goes through the dishwasher with no problem. People who complain about the pot warping are using too high heat. The rainbow "stain" and the white haze other people complain about are typical of all stainless steel. Both can be removed quickly with a splash of vinegar and a minute of soaking in the case of the white deposits.

I've just bought my second one. This is such a versatile use pot. It is just the right size for families 4-8. I have discovered that the height of this pot allows for it to minimize the splatter and clean up one normally gets all over the stove with the shallow frying pans that are common. I cook fried eggs, steaks, chicken, vegetables in it. It cooks evenly and is a well made. I love this brand and the quality.... I bought the full set a couple years ago.

I had a 5 qt. non-stick calphalon and wanted to switch over to stainless steel. I was so happy to find this on Amazon. I use this pot all the time to make stew, pasta, sauce, meatballs, baby food plus much more. It cooks evenly on my stovetop and cleanup is a breeze even if there's stuck on food. All I do is run hot water into the pot with some dish detergent and let it sit for about an hour, sometimes less. Then I take a sponge and wash it down. Simple. I love this pot.

In the modern age, finding reviews for any object is easy. Yet it took me 2 years to finalize which 5-quart pot I would squeeze into my kitchen shelf. I settled on this size because I was looking (more like hunting high and low) for something I can cook with that was larger than a 3-quart saucepan and smaller than a stew pot. This fit the bill nicely and its width is small enough to stack a saucepan on top of it in the cabinet. I purchased this gem last year and am very happy with it. The other pots in my collection are also Calphalon Tri-ply so this one matches. It is light weight and easy to wash off (or stick in the dishwasher if you prefer).

Love my Calphalon Tri-ply Stainless pot. I have the full set and wanted a 2nd 5qt Dutch oven. I'm sure there are less expensive brands out there but Calphalon never disappoints.

I have no complaints at all about this pot, but we bought it to replace a much cheaper lower-end Calphalon pot of the same size, and it seems to cook exactly the same. Perhaps it retains a bit more heat, but other than that I cannot tell any difference in practical usage. That said, it's a great pot.

I purchased this to replace an old 3 1/2 quart calphalon black anodized pot. I could not find an exact match (I think that size only comes if you buy a set) so I went for this 5 quart. I don't use "non-stick" anymore I am switching to stainless steel. These stainless steel cookware are extremely easy to clean. The pot is substantial, but not too heavy. The lid is beautiful. My husband was upset that it has a lower profile than the previous pot, but I measured it and it is only 1/2 inch shorter, and a bit wider. Overall, really happy with this pot.

Nice even heating, food does not burn easily. A good investment if you regularly cook smaller and medium sized meals. A big improvement over previous pots I have cooked with.

Besides just being a dutch oven, it's a great general purpose pot to cook up food for 2-4 persons.
