Great function, great value!
So far it works great! I get way more shots off per cylinder than I ever did with the JT ER2. Because it is semi-auto I don't lose my aim between shots. The first cylinder I used leaked some air, but none have leaked since.

The seals wear out very fast and make the gun inoperable.
I returned the first gun as the seal would not work with CO2 cartridges. It was returned and a new gun was sent. The first cartridge worked well and the second cartridge did not sea. This means when you install a new cartridge, it leaks out all of the CO2.This is a bad product and as the saying goes you get what you paid for.

Worth the money? For the right player, yes.
Out of the box, the velocity is preset and unalterable (without modification). It's pretty low, under 200 fps, and then it drops rapidly as this thing is horribly inefficient. The 12 gram would run dry before 50 balls, and even then there was visible shootdown around the 15th ball. Granted, the barrel bore is huge for current paint sizes, and this is not a fine-tuned machine. The trigger pull is stiff, I can't imagine kids could use this thing for extended periods of time before trigger fatigue set in. Despite it's low velocity, it kicks like a mule and is very loud. But none of this is unexpected. These pistols aren't necessarily meant for field use, although you could do that if you're brave/confident enough. This and the ER2 (the pump version) are cheap, mostly plastic, with metal in only the most necessary parts. Unless you're a tinkerer and mod it to perform better than it does out of package, it's mostly for backyard/private land fun. I can't stress this enough, my review of 3 stars is not a slight on the manufacturer, it is simply to emphasize where the ER4 falls in relation to the typical entry level marker, or even rentals. The mask is relatively very small, and the rating on the manual attached to it is very spot on: "Basic Level of Protection." Am i confident that it can take a direct paintball hit? Yes. Am i confident that it will be comfortable and not fog up? No. But, again, not unexpected as it comes WITH a marker and the entire package is less than $60.Now, the most enticing aspect of this kit, for me as a primarily pump player (these days), is the 50 rd hopper. Pump players love us some pocket hoppers: APP, Winchester, whatever. So JT making one excites us. The hopper lid isn't much to write home about, but the hopper as a whole is quite promising. Holds a decent amount (for pump), seems to feed well enough for gravity-fed (on the mule-kick ER4, anyway), and is low profile even for a pocket hopper. I see a lot of good times with this, even if the pistol itself won't get much play time.

They work.
If you're new to paintball or have kids, these things are powerful with a new cartridge. There are folks that mentioned that the balls fall out, I did experience this, but they fall out if the trigger is not pulled completely. So shoot or don't press the trigger. Also, some people mentioned jamming, yes it does get jammed if the balls are hot and sticking together, but that's normal for paintballs.
