Great light
Excellent aquarium light! It adds great depth and shimmer to the tank, and it really brings out the reds in my plants and fish without looking unnatural. Great performance, quality, and value. Highly recommend!

You own youself a chance if NOT buying this light.
I usually don't write review much here but this time I have the urge that will need to let all the other buyer know. This is a GREAT LIGHT ! The price is like "Poor Man Kessil" price but it actually serve better then Kessil. I am not talk about how "Bright" this thing is, although is very bright for what it use for recommend size of your tank. but it function BETTER then Kessil. You can dim this light to many level, Kessil can't. You need to buy separate controller for Kessil, this one don't. Kessil has the best shimmer effect, this one has it too. Not to a point like disco effect. The adjustment is endless. Kessil need to buy at least 2 accessories to achieve. The color spectrum is nice also, more on the yellowish side then blue which what I want for planted tank. Build quality is SUPERB ! For this price, you got a full metal thing except that plastic screws which you want it to be plastic. Give you an extra lens if you want more focus beam light style. I leave it 100 on for couple of days to test it out, still work, and the housing is just warm to touch. This light has NO FAN ! means no noise ! Kessil has fan. It's better then Flex Mini. They are great light too but this Asta 20 are serve more functions AND 30 dollars cheaper then Flex Mini. If you are looking for pendant style (Kessil like) light for your aquarium. You own yourself a good chance not to give a try ! I have own Kessil, ADA, Anchera, Flex Mini, Altemis, Prime HD and Raidon. This light sit on the top of my chart ! Yes, you can say all of the other also good light too... yup ! but no good to your wallet ! lol.

Pendant Style Fish Tank Light
The subject of this review is the F20 Freshwater Pendant light. This product line comes in several form factors. It is very important that you select the right unit from the product line for your application. Lominie makes marine and reef lights in this same product line. They also make a higher wattage freshwater light. All in the same product line. Read the description of each type before you make the purchase. I needed a light for a ten gallon tank. This tank will be used to hold Frogbit and Salvinia Natans during the colder months. I keep those two species of floating plants in an outdoor patio pond for most of the year. However, they have a habit of dying off during the winter. Last year, I used a large aquarium heater to keep the patio pond warm. Obviously, my power bill took a hit. I wish to avoid that this year. I also do not want to spend the money on an expensive Kessil light. Floating plants are not demanding of light because they are on top of the water. They get the full effect of whatever light you put on top. That said, they need something better than the color-enhancing lights that are used on fish-only tanks. I have an old kessil that was used for my indoor houseplants but it has a magenta color. I do not want magenta lights in my living room. So off to Amazon I went. Searching for lights. You can find any kind of light you want on Amazon. Normally, I would buy the light bars that go across the tank. I have had units from Current USA, Fluval Aquasky, Finnex Ray 2 DS, Finnex Plant, etc. The Finnex Ray 2 DS is very powerful and not something I want shining in my living room for 8 hours. I mean, you know, I live there too. Your humble reviewer has no use for photosynthesis. Burger and fries give me all the nutrition I need. I saw this Lominie and the form factor intrigued me. I ordered it and it came two days later. This Lominie is a no-frills unit. You will not find a remote control. It does not have those features that allow you to change colors. Nor does it have thunder and storm effects. None of the light shows which you normally find in general-purpose aquarium lights. I never used those features on my Current USA and Fluval Aquasky. I am not likely to miss those features. The quality of the gooseneck mount appears to be good. It holds its shape. Although, like any metal, if you keep bending it over and over, yes, the holding power will weaken. But really, how often are you going to adjust your lights. Find the right position, set it, and then leave it alone. The light dimmer is inline, on the power cord. Assembly is easy. The light beam's angle can be adjusted with a lens swap. It comes with two lenses. The standard is 90 degrees. You can remove that and put in the 120 degrees to get more coverage. Wider angle = lower intensity. I chose to leave the 90 degree lens. The coverage is enough for a ten gallon tank. A 20 gallon tall might benefit from the wider angle lens. A 20 gallon long or 29 high will need two of these Lominie units to grow demanding plants. I adjusted the gooseneck so that the lights reach the top of the water at a slight angle. This widens the coverage. The light intensity is more than good enough for floating plants. Although the angle means the intensity gets weaker under the water. Which is great for my use. I do not want algae on the bottom of the tank. This light will work for ten gallons or less. 20 gallons and up will require a second unit. A 55 gallon will need three. The light quality is quite good. It is on the cooler side of the spectrum though. Some people prefer a warmer color. Cool or warm, it will grow plants as long as there is enough of it. Why four stars instead of five? The mounting clip could have been better designed. I have a tank with a plastic rim around it. In other words, an All-Glass 10 gallon. The clip works but not as easily as it needs to. I had to make a lot of adjustments to find the right mount. Finally, I put some cork material on the exterior of the glass before tightening the holding screw. Otherwise, the holding screw will slide on the glass. It will hold but the light can move from side to side. I do not want the beam angle to change. So, I placed a piece of cork material on the glass and it is holding okay. It looks like the mounting system was designed for a rimless tank. Anyway, this is a great light. There are no bells and whistles here. The money was spent on the light and the gooseneck. The body of the light is metal. The gooseneck is metal. There is enough light for most plants. The light was designed for desktop cube tanks. For that, there is enough light that you can even use C02. Highly recommended.

Great light with good power
★★★★★ from AtypicalCollegeStudent on February 8, 2018 Great light with a lot of power! I ordered the Asta 20 planted version for my new 10 gallon tank. I thought I could make it work even with the tank rim (the product info has been updated to say it works on rimless tank only). Well, no luck on that, without cutting some of the rim. I was planning to mount it to a very small shelf behind the tank, when i realized it would clip perfectly to my bookshelf. The light comes with a flat 180° lens that spreads the light pretty far, and a domed 60° lens that makes it more of a spotlight. With the 180° lens, I was disappointed in the color rendering. My fish and plants appeared washed out. I tried the 60°, and that’s perfect! Somehow the light is warmer and more natural with the smaller spread. Several points: -as others state, the dimmer switch is finicky. If you want to dim it, start on full blast and slowly dial down. Going from off to medium dim just doesn’t happen- it goes from barely on to almost full blast. -the freshwater version does NOT come with a remote. The images clearly state the box contents. I think some people are confused because the box insert shows a remote. I believe the remote only comes with the saltwater version, but they use the same flyer inside each box, making it seem the remote should be there. -this light has enough power and spread with either lens to adequately light a 10 gallon tank. I’ve got medium light plants on one end of the tank, and I placed low light plants such as java fern on the opposite end of the tank. I could swivel the light to spread it out more and get what’s Is estimate to be medium light through the whole tank, but I have it focused on one side. My betta enjoys having a shady area, and I love the shadows and varying light levels this creates. I’m attaching some pictures of my betta in a rimless 5 gallon so you can see the great color of his fins and the plants. I’m also adding pics of the 10 gallon with light at full power, then slightly dimmed.

Just an ok light
Overall it is ok. I like the lantern style vs strip due to light variation in water. But it is not very bright when needed, hose is stiff and hard to reposition. Also has limited rotation to move to other areas of tank, without having to unscrew and completely move. Also, light from the bulb hits at eye level when sitting so have to position away to eliminate eye glare and stiff neck of the light doesn’t help.

Perfect lighting!
This light just to good ! Set up was super easy and the controller settings are super easy to use as well. Love how you can dim the light entirely or individual light colors like red, green, blue, or white. I have red and green turnt off in the video and it is the perfect lighting for my tank!

Not worth the price, died in 10 months.
Lasted 10 months and then died. The integrated fan is a bit noisy. Not good quality, not worth buying.

Look no further for a nano tank light !
This light is strong ! Atleast it works very well for nano tanks My aquarium is about 1 month old . Nothing fancy - I am using tropica substrate and diy Co2. Dimensions are 10x10x10 inches. All plants are tropica emersed grown plants Before I used this light , I just used a 23W daylight CFL bulb held by an IKEA lamp For the first two weeks . Results were good However on changing to these new light , there were two things I noticed within 2 weeks of use 1. Staurogyne Repens started growing sideways rather than taller . The leaves were very tightly packed . The plant actually started carpeting on its own ,without the need to cut and replant stem 2 . Plant leaves appeared to thin out . Hydrocotyle started to grow more compact leaves Both the signs indicate that the light is very strong . I have dimmed it to about 75% now Overall , I am happy with this light and will be posting a long term review in a few months Pros : 1. Clean look 2. Perfect for 5 to 10 gallon planted tanks 3 . Shimmer effect looks nice 4. Visible light resembles daylight and pleasant to look at (slightly at the blue end though) 5. Cost of course ! Cons: 1. Dimmer is so so , but should work fine as long as you dial in once, and don’t fiddle with it often 2. Clamp screw may scratch the glass . I used a piece of paper between the screw and the glass I will be buying more of these for my future tanks for sure

These lights a SWEET!
Man these lights are cool!! Casts a perfect light for a freshwater tank. I can just stare at it even more now. Well made and quite sturdy. Love how much adjustment on the neck to get the light just right. I love the remote that comes with them as well. I bought three ... its a big tank, and even though each comes with a remote, one remote will work all three. Thoroughly impressed ... digging these lights

Perfect light for a nano tank
This light is better than I expected. Plants are pearling... Solid quality and well thought out design. The plastic screw is an amazing example of attention to detail as it will not damage the tank but is very secure. The remote with timer and dimmer settings is what I needed. Solid construction and the cooling fan is so quiet that I didn't even know it was on until the room was completely silent and I was sitting 1 foot away. The adjustable arm allows for precise placement which is essential for nano tanks in particular. We will definitely look at these again the next time we need a light.
