Excellent WD sn7100 nvme ssd 2tb. Great price and delivered early. Took 20 minutes to clone my c drive and now i have plenty of room for games.

I bought the WD_BLACK SN7100 4TB to replace my smaller WD SN570 Gen3 boot drive. Installation was straightforward i.e just slide it into the M.2 slot, and done. Performance Using CrystalDiskMark V9.5.0, I consistently saw around 7000 MB/s read and 6200 MB/s write on the 4 GB test, and about 6800 MB/s write on the longer 64 GB run which was remarkably close to the advertised specs. Random 4K read/write speeds also feel quick, and Windows 11 boots in roughly 5–6 seconds. However, I did observe some throttling when running 64GB Q8T1 test with temperature reaching 59°C and speed dropping to 4500MB/S. Though, it's still faster than any Gen3 drive. App launches are near-instant. I haven’t tested large game installs (like 100 GB titles) since this particular system isn’t built for heavy gaming, but for productivity and content creation, it's been great so far. Thermals and Efficiency Idle temperature hovers around 30°C but under sustained load, temperatures could reach up to 60°C and this is without a heatsink(except some black material came with the original laptop drive) which for a Gen4 drive is exceptional. The controller here isn’t just fast but impressively power-efficient. Compared to my older Samsung 970 EVO Plus Gen3, this one runs at a lower wattage. It’s a great fit for laptops or compact builds where cooling headroom is limited. Storage Capacity and Software Usable space comes out to about 3.63 TB, which is standard for 4 TB drives due to the difference between base-10 and base-2 (1000 vs 1024) calculations. My only gripe is WD’s software. The legacy Dashboard app has been replaced by Kitfox, and the 4 TB SN7100 isn’t fully recognized yet. Hopefully, WD or SanDisk pushes an update soon, as the drive itself is fantastic. Also, it could be formatted for Windows, Linux or MacOS. Value and Endurance This drive uses TLC 3D NAND, unlike the WD SN5000 which is QLC-based(4TB version) and often priced just a few dollars cheaper. The SN7100 offers an endurance rating of up to 2400 TBW, which should easily outlast multiple system builds. If you plan to use it in a server or NAS, I’d suggest either keeping a backup drive(RAID 1) or going with WD Red SN700, which is designed for heavier write cycles. While it’s not the cheapest 4 TB Gen4 SSD, the performance easily rivals the Samsung 990 Pro and Crucial T500, with the added benefit of lower power consumption and cooler thermals. Verdict If you’re upgrading from an HDD or even a SATA SSD, the SN7100 feels like a quantum jump. It combines blazing fast speed with stable thermals, and generous capacity in one package. This is an excellent choice for prosumers(creators, gamers) or anyone who's looking for a reliable performance with minimal heat output. To conclude, if you're looking for a drive that stays cool, handles large transfers without any hiccups, and just works; look no further. Highly recommended.

I purchased this as it was one of the recommended SSD's for the Framework 16. It's not the fastest SSD, but it is power efficient and runs cool. I also don't expect to do large writes so integrated RAM and high write endurance were not of primary concern. The primary concern was extending battery life and not getting a high performance SSD that would cook itself into failure in a cramped laptop chassis. This drive fit those requirements. The drive is fast enough so I have no complaints about it's performance in the current application. I personally would not use this drive in a desktop as I would rather have something faster and with high endurance since desktop cooling allows for something like that. For a laptop, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I bought a couple of these SSDs and raided them together for some impressive performance. I definitely recommend them over pricier brands. The performance and quality is decent for the price, I'm very happy with them. The pic shows 2 of these SSDs in Raid 1, so your sequential SEQ1M Q8T1 numbers for a single SSD won't be as high, I'm just showing potential with a RAID using these SSDs.

I bought this specifically to put into an external USB 3.2 enclosure for heavy software development (Node.js, local databases, thousands of tiny files). Most portable SSDs you buy off the shelf use cheap QLC memory that fails under these conditions. The WD_BLACK is different. Because it uses true TLC 3D NAND and a high-end internal controller, it doesn't just do fast sequential transfers—it handles Random 4K IOPS flawlessly. In my benchmark testing, this drive handled 5,000 separate 4KB file writes in 4.6 seconds natively through Windows. That is over 1,000 IOPS over a USB bridge, completely preventing any system lockups or compiler freezing. If you are building a custom external drive for gaming or coding, this is the silicon you want inside it.

I normally wouldn't get a drive without a ram cache but I needed something and this was the best I could afford at the time. It seems to work fine but it's a little slower than my Samsung.

I purchased two of these drives, and both have performed equally well, demonstrating strong consistency and quality. Both my laptop and my wife’s laptop run 24/7, and we rarely power them off, so these drives have been under continuous use. We work in software engineering and infrastructure/server environments, where reliability is critical. Even under these demanding conditions, the drives have remained stable and dependable. I would definitely recommend buying this SSD.

Excellent Quality and compatibility. It is a perfect fit as original. It is a huge upgrade to me original 1TB NVMe on my 2015 laptop! It booted perfectly and without any errors. The specs and space are exactly as listed and advertised. I would not expect anything less from WD. The data transfer speed are phenomenal and the space allocation is per specs.

I highly recommend the WD Black SN7100 because this SSD is really efficient like crazily power efficient and you will be saving battery life and temperatures and still super fast that's why I used for upgrading my Lenovo Legion Go 2 from Original Samsung 1TB 2242 SSD to New WD Black SN7100 4TB 2280 SSD.
