Use very sparingly as a crack filler before colouring and the applying leather care balm
Used Autoglym leather cleaner first and later neutralised with water. Then a thin metal spatula (like that used for opening mobile phone cases) to spread filler sparingly across the grain of crack in a leather car seat. Cleared off as much as possible while carefully making sure there was enough of the filler left in the crack to build it up. Wait for hardening, then buff. Repeat as necessary using very thin layers. Keep the filler as close to the area as possible with as little spreading beyond the cracked area as possible.Use Furniture Clinic recolouring balm and spatula to apply colour quite thickly, then use a white cotton cloth to spread the recolouring gel across a wider area. Work on one specific area at a time. Wait a few minutes before buffing with a microfibre cloth. Leave for a couple of hours and reapply if necessary.Areas where the filler has been used may show a slight grey discolouration (from black) even after a couple of treatments. Wait about ten minutes after colour re-application, buff and then leave for a few hours. Use a clean microfibre cloth to buff and make sure no colour is coming off. Then apply leather care balm area by area using a microfibre cloth. This will also lift some of the colour onto the cloth, buff again after a few minutes and check for colour fastness. It might be sensible to not wear white clothes till the surface becomes colourfast.Overall, the combination of Autoglym leather cleaner, Scratch Doctor filler, Furniture Clinic recolouring balm and Autoglym Leather care balm worked well on black leather car seats. Very good at filling in nicks and minor scuffs. For any tears, use Bostick rubberised superglue to 're-lay' before applying filler and other treatments. Plenty of videos on the internet to guide on more complicated repairs. The best finish can only be achieved by fine (eg 1200 grit) sanding, rigorous time-consuming preparation and spraying the leather to restore the original. This is something of a specialist art. While this combination of products is quite expensive (and others were not tried) the results are more than acceptable on 18 year old black grained leather seats.

Don't do it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Never again! Only writing this to tell you what NOT to do as I made a total balls up when using this on a pair of boots and, if you do the same, how I eventually managed to fix it. Firstly, the instructions tell you to use a wooden stick to put this on in thin layers...I knew better and used a small paint brush (for the bend cracks in country boots)...dried it off with a hair dryer (as instructed)...eek...dull coloured grey/brown streaks that wouldn't buff up or polish up to match the natural shine of the original boot...just awful. Tried to use soap and water to remove...no...nail varnish remover...nope...turps...not budging! The only way I managed to get most of it off was to reappy another layer in circular motions (small patches at a time) and use a cloth to quickly rub as hard as I could. It worked to remove the majority and, not sure if I am imagining things or if I am just relieved that I now how a wearable boots again, but I think it might have made the boot coverage slightly improved??????...hence at least one star. Good luck!

Repaired crazing of car's armrest perfectly.
The driver's door armrest on my car was damaged by a previous owner. It looked unsightly spoiling the whole interior. Unfortunately, as the car is a famous German sports car, replacement of the armrest is super-expensive, prohibitively so.I found this leather repair product and decided to attempt to repair the damage myself. It did a great job that has proven to last, refinishing the colour to the original was accepted without any problems either. It literally saved me hundreds of pounds!

Not suitable for high traffic
Unfortunately I have to rate this at two stars. The positives are that the filler is easy to apply with a workable viscosity which aids in getting a smooth finish. Also the colour is consistent. However for me the most important quality is missing which is the robustness of the filler itself when dried which is severely lacking.I have experience performing leather repairs and thought I'd try this filler but I cannot recommend it due to its low adhesion and all round poor strength. I had build up several layers over days to ensure sufficient drying and to get a perfect finish. The finish WAS good to the eye but not practical in terms of useability. I found the filler quickly started to come away and within a day all that was left was the original leather.Unfortunately I have tried a few different attempts with ensuring the leather was cleaned, dry and sanded back to have a nice surface to grab too but no joy.If you require a filler which will not be touched, strained, etc then this could be suitable, however if you require the repair to be under any type of duress then avoid this filler.

Does exactly what it says on the tin.
The product does what it says. I bought this to repair the split leather on my steering wheel. It was easily applied using the supplied wooden coffee stirrer, and easy to fill and smoother off after as instructed to good effect. The only down side is the product life... meaning once opened it won't last, so if I have another repair to make I'd need to buy another tin.Overall, great product.
