Yes, I Guess I Do Love It
I have a powerful Windows 7 i7 desktop for photo editing. I wanted something more mobile for offloading photos from the camera in the field, doing basic RAW conversion for inspection, and just generally being able sit in the living room and middle, without having a keyboard to deal with. And I didn't want to spend much. The OS here is Win 8.1, and it's my first experience with that and with a touch screen, other than my phone. I find that after I took the keyboard off, it stayed off and untouched. If I were doing significant writing, I'd use it, but that's all. I find Windows 8.1 to be no particular problem. There are some transition moments, but once you remember a few gestures, it's no problem. This 10-inch screen is enough to read every web site I've come across. And it's large enough to realistically evaluate photo focus.. Dead easy to zoom in and out and shift around the image with gestures. I loaded Paint Shop Pro X7, Lightroom 5, and Open Office (I didn't activate the Office 360 - OO works fine and is free), and that put a big crimp in the 32 GB SS drive, so I just inserted a 32GM SDHC card. It disappears into the slot and is in no way at hazard. Now, this isn't a powerhouse processor, but the SS drive, with its fast access, makes up for a lot. Boot up is very quick. And it is capable of doing basic stuff in PSP and LR, although the screen size is way small to use LR real comfortably with its small fonts intended for 27+ inch graphics monitors. But I can fetch the RAW's and view them with basic development and let someone see them, which is all I need or expect. It feels like quite a substantial device and the halves are plenty thin. If you use the keyboard more than I do, it's very slick to take off and put on. There is a good variety of porting, but the full-size USB is on the keyboard. And with the lack of a full-size SD card slot, I bought an inexpensive accessory hub with just about everything on it. I have a Bluetooth mouse that connected just fine. But the touchscreen keyboard is good sized and easy to use. As illustrated, you can position the keyboard closed of open in the conventional laptop way. Or you can remove the keyboard and put it back on the other way around to make the device stand upright or to fold the keyboard under and out of the way. It should also be fine when Windows 10 updates this summer. I have not run the batteries all the way down, but the displayed battery status after being asleep over night makes be believe the claimed run time is pretty accurate. The screen glass is tough and, although I have operated it while eating, it doesn't show finger marks. I feel no obligation to buy any kind of screen protector. All in all, it turned out better than I expected.

I use it everyday
I bought this tablet (or 2 in 1) about a month ago and I use it everyday. It looks sleek but feels great in your hand, it isn't heavy at all. The keyboard latch mechanism works perfectly and also looks pretty dang cool. The keyboard feels nice and sturdy, is easy to type on, and it has no problem holding up the heavier tablet part of the device. It does have a small amount of internal storage space (which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD) but it isn't so small that it's annoying right away. I have mine synced with my dropbox and one drive which contain a ton of PDFs and several songs and videos, plus I have several downloaded apps and I haven't had a problem with memory yet. Though the screen isn't HD, you probably won't notice. It's super sharp and bright, and will automatically adjust brightness to accommodate for the light you are in. The battery isn't quite as long as some other tablets, but I take it to work with me (where I occasionally have nothing to do) and it lasts me over seven hours with normal use. I have read a book on it for over 8 hours with no need to charge it, but it will drain faster if you are playing games and watching videos. Others have complained about it not turning on. A few times I have pushed the power button and the screen didn't turn on, but it always works if you just hold it down for a little bit. I have never had an issue with this. One drawback is that it lacks a rear facing camera, but most people have their phones for this anyway. The only major issue i have with it is the charger, it doesn't charge through the microUSB port, which they do to free it up so it can be used for other things, but then you have to take another charger with you! plus, on the one they sent me the prongs detach from the rest of it for some reason. I'm not going to compare this tablet to 800 dollar tablets and 2-in-1s and say that it's not as good, it's obvious that those have better specs. But if you are looking for a tablet in this price range, this is hard to beat. I use this device mostly as a tablet, and occasionally I use the keyboard to type emails and things. It works great for entertainment and as a second device for productivity, but I wouldn't replace my laptop with it if you need something to run large programs and type long papers. The 10 inch screen is perfect for most things, but I would get annoyed trying to write a 20 page paper on it. I am in graduate school and in addition to entertainment I use the tablet to read my PDFs (which is great because you can read them like books in an e-reader) and type emails, and use an organizer app to keep track of everything. But when I need to run SPSS statistics software or ArcGIS, I bust out the laptop. But if you are looking for a 2-in-1 that can run these kinds of programs, you are going to be dishing out 1200 dollars or so. This is a great device and so far I haven't noticed any issues with battery life or processing power. If you want a tablet or laptop but don't feel like paying ridiculous amounts of money to be able to do things that you don't need to do, this is the device for you.

I tried really hard to click that 5th star because this is a great little tablet, but there are a couple things I would change.
This is a great tablet for someone looking for an ultra-mobile laptop/workstation PC. The hardware isn't incredible, but it's good enough for the road and didn't balk at anything I threw at it. The snap-on keyboard is solid gear - it doesn't feel cheap at all like some of the other 2 in 1 tablets I've tried. The mouse trackpad is also nice. It runs my PC games well at lower resolution settings. Pair this with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard when you're back at your desk and use a monitor with the included HDMI port and you've got a workstation too. The Gorilla Glass is sturdy and smooth. It works well for pen input and I haven't seen many fingerprints on the screen when touching it. Add a 64 GB or 128 GB MicroSD card to load all your applications without depleting system storage. Finally, it's sold by Amazon - I got it, like, Jimmy John's style freaky fast. There are a couple things I would change. It has a 64-bit processor but comes with 32-bit Windows 8. Yes, it only has 2 GB of ram, but it means I can't load the current 64-bit only VMWare to host a VM to connect to my work VPN. I noticed the keyboard will sometimes miss the first character I type, like it's waking up. Finally, I'm not a fan of separate charging ports. I prefer to charge off the USB port. I know this is a preference thing, but I would have preferred the option for both. Like prior reviewers stated, uninstall McAfee (and some of the other annoying bloatware) and you'll have a better experience. In summary - if you don't want to drop the big bucks for a higher-end model, this one is one of the best you can get in it's price point. You won't be disappointed.

Worked well as a word/powerpoint machine for 3 years, but there are better options for the same price.
To preface this review, I'm writing this as a college student that has owned this device for the past 3 years. I have the 32GB model with 2GB of RAM. Overview: In 2015, I bought this laptop with the intention of using it as a basic Microsoft Word/Powerpoint machine. For the most part, it works well for basic tasks like word processing and web browsing; since it's a low-end laptop with 2GB of RAM, it is prone to occasional slowdowns on video/ad-intensive sites (citationmachine slows it to a crawl). Do not even think about using this for games, it's not going to happen. Since the screen is only 10-inches across, its small form factor makes it easy to lug around campus daily. The screen itself is nothing to write home about but it is adequate enough for indoor use. In the outdoors, however, the screen does not get very bright at 100%; this makes it hard to read on sunny South Florida mornings. One of my favorite features of this device has to be the inclusion of the mini-hdmi peripheral, which makes it possible to use an external monitor or TV as a secondary display. Speaking of the Keyboard, the keys are pretty quiet and suitable for in-class use. The trackpad is multi-touch and gesture enabled, so it's possible to do two-finger scrolling and three-finger gesture alt-tabbing. When detaching the keyboard from the screen, it makes a obnoxious "clack!" noise that is sure to make you famous for all the wrong reasons. The battery life for this laptop is great, it usually lasts 8 hours on a full charge. It should also be noted that the charger is a proprietary connector and is also incredibly short. Like others have mentioned, there is a hardware defect that makes it refuse to power on sometimes. My device has the defect too, however, it is usually remedied by plugging it into a wall socket before trying again. This is silly considering it is intended to be, y'know, a portable device. Would I Buy It Again? No. Although it worked well for the past three years, I find it hard to recommend this device to anyone else. The main attraction to the device has to be the low-price, but with the rise of ChromeOS and other budget 2-in-1 Windows Laptops, there is a lot of serious competition. There are many small annoyances too, for example: this model in particular also has common hardware defects, such as the random inability to power on. I also regret buying the 32GB model, as it is nearly impossible to download new software updates for Windows 10.

Very near perfect.
I was surprised to see I hadn't reviewed this purchase because it is one of the best purchases I've made lately. I am not a techie. I like to surf the internet and occasionally compose a Word document or watch a movie online. I had a chromebook, full size laptop, an inexpensive (though about as much as this) portable laptop (yes, I don't even know what they are called), and a Galaxy tab. This does what all of them did, minus DVD drive. It's the perfect size, feels high quality, battery life is good, sensible interface. I even dropped this is a tub of water - I mean completely submerged for 1-2 seconds, and it came perfectly back to life after letting it dry out for several days on top of a lamp and in a bag of rice. Couldn't believe it. My complaints are as follows: screen is much heavier than keyboard so it has a tendency to want to fall backward if the weight of your hands isn't on the keyboard. So you have to keep the screen tilted more forward than you would like on some occasions. Not a huge deal. The other complaint is that...and maybe this is just my using, or an 8.1 thing...the unit often doesn't register my first key stroke. This happens at startup when I go to enter my password, it happens when I am typing in browser fields, etc. EXTREMELY annoying and if you're not careful can cause problems, like when I nearly mailed mortgage papers to the wrong address because when I typed the address it left off the first digit of the street number. Fortunately the USPS caught it. I am assuming this is my unit but I don't know. Otherwise, this thing is darn near perfect. Order a DVD drive though to use externally. I would've paid an extra $100 for this and still would have thought I got a great deal.

Its just PERFECT ..NOT
I have had this little beauty for almost a week now and Im on cloud nine. I am a grad student and I work from home and this is perfect for both. It does not have a port for Ethernet but that is the least. I bought a 2.0 usb Ethernet adapter and TADA!!!!!! this baby is up on running using Ethernet. The batter life is amazing. I can go 8 hours without charging. I can drop it in my purse and go on my errands. On my flight on Friday I was able to use this as a tablet. Its just the perfect solution for anyone who is on the go or anyone like myself who dislike having a heavy laptop to carry around. I love this baby!! love my touch screen. Its just perfect Update : I have this computer for one year and 3 days now. I never dropped it,spilled anything or downloaded anything . 3 days ago it just stopped turning on. It's charged and nothing. What do I do now

Best Bang For Your Buck
When you start comparing this to any tablet/Laptop/Convertible in an even similar price range, you start to see how great of a deal this is. Chromebooks: Even the cheapest Chromebook is $199, isn't convertible, doesn't have Windows, has less space, and has a crappy TN screen. The HP stream is a slightly better comparison, with more space and full windows at a similar price, but lacks in all other areas. Entry Level Laptops: While this convertible will inevitably lose in terms of space, processing power and ram, it still wins in terms of battery life, mobility and in it's ability to become a tablet. The IPS display is far superior to anything a $300 laptop would give you too. It's also worth noting that with the exception of a few games, the processing limitations of a $300 laptop will be fairly similar to this convertible. The best way I can explain this is that the Switch 10 can run Bioshock at 1280x800 in low settings no problem, where my considerably more expensive i5 ultrabook will overheat if I play at similar settings for more than five minutes. Assuming your laptop doesn't overheat, you're still looking at limited gameplay options until you get to an i3, in terms of intel. AMD has better graphics available, but you're still not going to be able to play newer games unless you have a separate video card, which will at that point be well out of the $200-350 price range. Tablets: This is a harder comparison. Android/Apple Tablets have vastly superior app stores, but inferior browsing and video playback capabilities when it comes to things like youtube. They also can't run full programs or emulate your home desktop like a windows tablet can. It's also hard to compare this to other Windows Tablets, due to them being largely similar. In the end, it's at a great price point for any tablet, and if your goal is to move beyond basic apps, it's a win all around. Convertibles: There's really only two comparable convertibles to speak of; the ASUS T100 and the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2. I'll cover each - T100 - The T100 wins out in cpu processing power and battery life, and is mostly comparable in other specs. The Switch 10 does have some benefits, though. The Switch 10's display is about 30-40% brighter (making it more usable in variable lighting conditions including outside), and the keyboard and mouse pad are notably larger, making them considerably more comfortable to use. The Switch 10 also has more convertible configurations than the T100, giving it more utility. The Switch has a higher quality look and feel compared to the T100, despite being the cheaper of the two. While the T100 uses a micro-usb for charging or usage, the Switch has the micro-usb for usage, but ALSO has a dedicated power port for much faster charging. It's also worth noting that most of the T100 victories can be somewhat mitigated. If you reduce the screen brightness of the Switch to the same levels of the T100, you can regain most of the 1 hour battery life separation, and the cpu power difference only really benefits when installing programs, not running them. The Switch is overall the nicer and more versatile product, at a lower price. Yoga Tablet 2 - The Yoga wins in resolution, with a 1920x1200 display. It also has an unbeatable 15 hours of battery life. It is both lighter and thinner than the Switch or T100, but this is where the cracks begin to show. If the T100 and Switch are more laptop than tablet, the Yoga is definitely more Tablet than Laptop. The Yoga shares the same slow charging micro-usb charger, but doesn't have a full-size USB that the other two have. The keyboard is also different in that it's a separately charging bluetooth keyboard, rather than directly connecting and being powered by the tablet, as the T100 and Switch are. The Yoga does have more versatility than the T100, with more modes available (as well as the unique "hanging" mode), but is roughly equal to the Switch. I think it comes down to whether you prefer the presentation mode on the Switch, which brings the tablet to you without forcing you to hold it, or the "hanging" mode on the Yoga. If you prefer one over the other, that one wins. It's worth mentioning that the 32GB Yoga is $100 more than the 32GB Switch, and there is no 64GB version of the Yoga. I would also note that there have been some reviews stating occasional lag with the Yoga, possibly due to it's significantly higher resolution to gpu ratio vs the T100 or Switch. On a separate note, if you're looking for a good starter laptop for your children, this is probably the best possible product to go with. It's a solid price, it's got a great battery life, it has some, but limited gaming capabilities. It doubles as a tablet. It's perfect for such usage. it's hard to do a "cons" list, because any improvement at this point might require a higher price point, negating how good of a deal this is. However, if you want a "what could be improved in later models" list: - A 1600x900 resolution would be welcomed - while 2gb of ram gets the job done, it would be nice to see 3-4gb. - An 11.6 inch screen could easily fit in the same overall space, and would make this an even better comparable to small laptops. - Better battery life would always be welcome - A second full USB port on the other side of the keyboard would largely improve the laptop utility. This would be easy and cheap to implement.

Pretty good hardware but full of programs that are borderline malware, and the Office version is so far unusable. I installed it and there is no shortcut for it, nor will it start from a right click. It is only a one year subscription, and possibly works with the cloud only? There is almost no manual, and it has the probably the lamest OS ever created, Windows 8... Otherwise, it is pretty good hardware for the price. If you can get a better machine with pre-installed software, my advice is save yourself the hassles and get that. If you are forced to get this class of laptop, be prepared to pay in aggravation...
