I use these to shorten the fake nails I buy. They never seem to come short enough and this tool cuts them off nice and clean. I just file off the sides (I don't like the square cut) and they are perfect every time!

The reason I wanted this tool was because I like to use gel nail strips and I have to be able to cut them straight across close to the tip of my nail. I had been using nail clippers or scissors, but the nail strips would often stick to them and stretch rather than be cut, or I couldn’t get a straight cut all the way across. I also had a hard time using them with my non-dominant hand. This nail cutter solved all those problems. It achieved a straight cut across with no sticking or stretching, I could get really close to my natural nail and I could easily use them with my non-dominant hand. Really made the process of using nail strips so much easier as the cutting part was always the biggest challenge. They are also very sturdy and seem like they will last for a long time. Very happy with them.

This cutter operates easily with either hand. The mechanism is smooth and doesn’t need a lot of pressure to work. The construction is kind of a cheap-looking folded metal plate, which is why I docked a star, but the clipper seems sturdy nevertheless and is actually comfortable to use. The little metal magnets to measure consistent length are clever and they hold very well. There’s even a small plastic case to store the magnets in. I got this for easier trimming of semi-cured gel nail strips.
