A significant departure from the bulky lead-acid backups
This Lithium UPS is a significant departure from the bulky, lead-acid backups most of us are used to. By moving to LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) technology, it addresses the biggest pain point of traditional UPS systems: the fact that the batteries usually die every 2–3 years. The LiFePO4 Advantage: The standout feature is the 10-year lifespan. Traditional Lead-Acid (SLA) batteries are notorious for losing capacity quickly, especially in warm environments. Cycle Life: With over 5,000 cycles, you could technically exhaust the battery every day for 13 years before it hits its end-of-life. Power Performance: The 800W / 1000VA capacity is the "sweet spot" for a high-end home office or a gaming setup. Pure Sine Wave: This is critical. Many cheaper UPS units use "Simulated Sine Wave," which can cause buzzing or hardware damage to sensitive power supplies in high-end PCs and medical equipment. Pure Sine Wave ensures your electronics receive "clean" power identical to what comes out of a wall outlet. Usability & Noise: The physical interface is streamlined but requires a quick look at the manual to master the "one-button" logic though. The Multi-Function Switch: It’s clever, but you have to be precise. A quick tap mutes the buzzer (a godsend during a storm), a 3-second press powers it on, and a 5-second press shuts it down. The Cooling Fan: Note that this unit isn't silent under load. The fan kicks in during heavy battery usage. At 50 dB, it’s roughly the volume of a quiet conversation or a large refrigerator humming. The "Buzzer Mute" Feature: One of the most annoying traits of older UPS systems is the incessant "beeping" during a blackout. This system including a dedicated mute function via the single-touch switch shows they are actually listening to user feedback. In short… Pros: - Longevity: 10 years of maintenance-free use is a game-changer. - Safety: The built-in BMS (Battery Management System) prevents the overheating/overcharging issues sometimes associated with lithium. - Pure Sine Wave: Safe for sensitive iMacs, gaming rigs, and servers. Cons: - Single Button Complexity: Using one button for power, shutdown, and muting can lead to accidental shutdowns if you aren't careful with your "press time." - Fan Noise: If you are using this for a bedroom media center, the 50 dB fan might be noticeable when it activates. Ideal For: Remote workers, gamers with expensive rigs, and anyone tired of replacing lead-acid batteries every two years.

Impressive
I bought three of these and have been using them for just shy of a year. So far, so good! Two of them are the 600W models and one is the 800W. The two 600 watt units are keeping my workstation, router, ONT, switches, wireless, and other gear up and running. Each is only powering about 120-150 watts worth of equipment, so I have seen close to an hour of backup time during outages. Since most outages here are fairly brief, this has kept my uptime and productivity to a maximum. I only bought the 800W one because it was on sale and I figured I could use it for *something*. Ended up using it for my refrigerator lol. While my power doesn't go out often, it does flash somewhat frequently and sometimes quite violently (think the scene from Poltergeist). A control board in my fridge had already fried once so I figured adding a UPS as protection wouldn't hurt. So far, so good. During the last outage, it ran my full size fridge for about 40 minutes (would have run it longer, but the defrost cycle kicked in which is 400W versus the usual ~100 watt when it's cooling). I've got a LiFePO4 ebike battery that's about 12 years old and going strong, so I know the battery chemistry used in these is made for the long haul. So I can only hope the electronics in these UPSs are built to last as well. The only thing I can find to complain about with these is that there's no serial port to be able to monitor them from a PC which means there's no way to detect a power outage and have the equipment shut down automatically. For a home office or entertainment center, that's not too big a deal but if you're planning to use these for servers, you might want to look at a different model so you can safely shutdown your equipment.

Makes a Great First Impression
I've owned UPSs from APC and CyberPower. After having my lead-acid backup fail during a flicker in the power line, I decided to give this lithium backup a chance. It's well built, easy to use, and attractive. The display is bright and easy to read. When I unplug it, it switches to battery fast enough that my PS5 doesn't notice. The fan turns on when charging or running off battery, but turns off when fully charged. The fan is almost imperceptible, but would be noticeable if it sat on a desk. Like my CyberPower, it outputs a pure sine wave, which is beneficial for protecting computers. Unlike the CyberPower, the GoldenMake is virtually silent. Setting up the unit was easy. Unlike my other UPSs, every outlet in the back is the same. All are protected by battery backup. There are no Ethernet or USB ports, master outlets or management software. This is a simple plug-and-play device for the home or small office. Its low maintenance design is one of its selling points. I do have a few nits. The power cord is only 4' long. I wish it came with a longer cord and a flat plug. To Goldenmate's credit, it's a standard C13 cord used on any PC, and I can easily replace it with any cord I want. Goldenmate assumes no responsibility for damage caused by a third party power cord. Like any UPS, this unit beeps when it's on battery power. The beep is much softer than any other UPS I have used, and I can silence it with a single button press. I wish I could set it to only beep when the battery is low. It has eight outlets in back, a lot for such a compact unit, but they are so closely spaced that I can't use them all. It's supposed to offer surge protection, but I can find no information on what kind or how many joules. The unit has a 5 year warranty, excluding the battery. Goldenmate claims the battery will last 10 years, although they do not say how much it will degrade in that time (50% like a TV panel?). The battery is not replaceable. Right now, I have more than enough battery power to run my modem, router, and other devices in standby mode (20w total) for hours. I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend it.
