I bought the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite as a birthday gift for my husband, and it was such a good choice. He loves reading, so I wanted to get him something he’d genuinely use rather than just another gadget - and this has been perfect. He started using it almost straight away and appreciated the features and book selection available. The screen is really impressive. It’s clear, easy on the eyes, and the glare-free display makes it feel much more like reading an actual book than looking at a tablet. He especially likes that he can read comfortably in different lighting without any issues and can read at night and not wake me up if I'm sleeping! It’s also really lightweight and easy to carry around, so he takes it everywhere. The battery life has been excellent too, which is a big plus as it doesn’t constantly need charging. What I like most is that it feels like a gift that’s actually enhanced something he already enjoys. Instead of buying more physical books to pile up around the house, he now has everything in one place and loves how convenient it is. A really thoughtful gift that’s been genuinely appreciated and well used. If you’re buying for someone who loves books, this is a brilliant option.

I love it. This was the perfect choice to upgrade to after support finally stopped for my first kindle. This is the perfect size for taking on holiday. I usually read on the kindle app on my phone or my ipad, but when sitting in the sun it soon becomes impossible to read. That was the main reason I used to rely on my kindle, but already I'm finding myself using this more often than not. Very light, but feels quite sturdy. I purchased the cover for it at the same time, and it's equally as good. Books download really quickly, and once you get used to the touch sensitivity it really is preferable to reading on my phone.

Love it! Was running out of bookshelf space so having this has been amazing. I've read so many new books and authors since having this that I probably wouldnt have bought in the shop. It's ideal for slipping in your bag wherever you go. Easy to set up, it can give you definitions of words you dont understand, you can highlight or save quotes you love. On the rare occasion you find a error in a book you can easily highlight and report the error so it can be fixed.

This is such a good little kindle, it was very easy to set up either on the kindle itself or from your phone if you have the kindle app. It connected to my account straight away and is very clear to read. I used to have a kindle years ago but when it gave up I just used the app on my phone but have started to find it harder to read from phone screen and it does drain the battery when reading for a couple of hours, so decided to treat myself to a new one and this is absolutely brilliant.

What an amazing device!! Everything about it runs smoothly!! I don’t miss at all a physical book (even though it was a worry before buying it) Only problem it doesn’t have any books in greek even with a purchase! What a shame!

I just ordered it and I’ll update this review once it arrives and I get the chance to use it properly. My main problem with the recent Kindles is the fact you have to pay extra to get rid of ads…I don’t want to have ads so I paid but there shouldn’t be ads on a Kindle period. Anyway, I’m an happy Kindle user since 2013. My 6th generation Paperwhite (PW) has been amazing and still is. It has been with me by the pool, on the beach, survived anything. The battery still lasts days and days. It is AMAZING. I could still use it but I’ve decided to pass it to a relative and upgrade, mainly for the USB-C and the bigger screen as I read a lot of technical books. I’ve seen a lot of people always complain about new kindles “not changing much”…I’m sorry but that is a feature, not a bug folks. If a product is amazing at what it does and lasts you 10+ years you don’t want to change it for the worse (Ads are an example of this): You want to gradually improve it. You don’t have to upgrade to the newest Kindle every few years, but when you eventually do like in my case, you get a noticeably bigger screen with higher resolution and density, with the same weight and size, higher contrast, super fast refresh rate and general speed, better frontlights, warm frontlights and dark mode for night reading, 4 times the storage (not that I really exhausted the 4GB I had)…I can’t wait for it to arrive :) UPDATE 3 (MONTH 1): As suspected the battery life was dropping way too fast. I also had this weird problem where on girlfriend’s iPhone charger the battery stopped charging at 75% and on other charger never got to 100%. The bottom of the screen was also yellow (this seems a common problem among 12th gen Kindles, both PW and CS apparently). Long story short I decided to return it and buy a new one (notice that Amazon makes it easy to return a product but annoying to just replace it, whatever). The new one arrived and…the screen looks much more yellow/gray than the replaced one. Darn it, the 12th gen was already waaay grayer than my 2013 Paperwhite :( Just to put things in perspective, I always had my old Kindle brightness at 6/24 but with the new Kindle I always find that being too dim/gray. On a positive note, replacement’s screen look more uniform and somewhat blacks look blacker (very so slight that it may well be placebo!). The battery also seems to deplete very quickly. I don’t know whether it’s a first few days thing or a calibration thing. Regardless, I think the 12 weeks of battery is VERY optimistic. And not even taking in consideration the occasional reading of articles or browsing the Kindle Store...that eats percentages of battery by the minute. Also, the bug I’ve mentioned where switching between light and dark mode sometimes turns the front light off is still there…definitely a software problem (I tried to raise this with Amazon support but they were useless. They said they raised a ticket but I haven’t heard back, so I’m thinking they just lied to get me off their back. Amazon should make it easier to report issues like this) All in all, I still love my new Kindle, especially the big screen and speed (although using the browser kills the battery). The battery is disappointing but part of me still hope it will get better after a few weeks. Screen is not as white as it used to be but at least seems more uniform now. It’s such a lottery :(. I hope I’ll finally settle with this replacement. UPDATE 2 (WEEK 1): I have it for a few days. Still loving it but I have concerns about the battery. Possibly I’ve been messing with it more than normal but battery went from 95% to 15% in 4 days. Light never was above 12/24. Wi-fi was on. Used the browser a few times… Bur still, I haven’t used it more than usual and yet battery seem to have lasted me less than my PW2? I charged the battery this morning from 15% to 95% in ~1h which is far quicker than what Amazon says (2h+) which makes me wonder if there is something off with the battery capacity. I wanna see how it goes in the next few days of mainly lights off/Wi-Fi off, more normal usage and hopefully no indexing of new books. Fingers crossed! Another thing I’ve noticed is that I am absolutely loving the “Dark Mode” and I can’t see myself going back for night reading. Only caveat if a book has pictures with white background they’ll be a bit brighter. And also browser content is still displayed normally, even in Article Mode. But otherwise absolutely great! I also got a leather case which at £60 is way too expensive but nice. If you are considering it tho bear in mind it seems to scratch VERY EASILY. UPDATE 1 (FIRST IMPRESSIONS): I have it for a couple of days although I haven’t been able to use it much. Apologies this is going to be long :| First of all let’s get 2 things that you’ll often see people complaining about out of the way: 1) “the button is at the bottom, I’ll accidentally press it” - I am not saying this is impossible BUT I never had a problem with the old one and it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the new one. I am waiting for a case and still haven’t pressed it accidentally, it would be even less of a problem once the case arrives. Oh and BTW the new power button feels much nicer! 2) “there are no buttons to turn pages, the Kindle I bought in 1986 had them, I refuse to upgrade”. Again, never tried a Kindle with buttons, I’m sure they were somewhat nice but I never felt swiping or tapping on the border to turn page was a problem. Sure in my old Kindle OCCASIONALLY I tap on a link or highlighted text instead of turning page. But I think this is even less of a problem with the flush screen. I actually noticed I can tap just outside the screen to turn pages now because of the flush screen and I LOVE IT. Most importantly people need to realise mechanical buttons and moving parts WILL break. Something that is not there can’t break :) The flush screen is really nice compared to the old PW from 2013. Highlighting feels so much better, can’t quite explain it or why. Possibly because of the flush screen, maybe also because of how faster the screen is, but it’s great. I kept comparing the old screen with the new one and it is driving me a bit nuts. Somehow the new screen looks gray-er? Of course if you just use it it is fine but it has a more “recycled paper” look than paperWHITE (not that Kindles ever compared to the white of paper mind you) It is fine, but I can’t quite explain it. My theory is that it’s a combination of the flush layer but also the front lights colour temperature being less white/blue (which is a good thing!). The flush screen (which I love) is also a bit of a fingerprint magnet, although: 1) they seem to be more noticeable only when there is a light source reflected, not usually 2) I imagine the flush screen is easier to clean. Continuing with the less positive things: I am noticing much more ghosting compared to the old PW2. In my old Kindle it was usually more pronounced on the beach because of the heat and in general time after a few pages, here I noticed it more, especially when flipping pages more quickly. The good news is that it is not bad in practice while reading normally and it seems less noticeable at normal brightness like 6/24 or 12/24. Speaking of speed…wow, the new Kindle is so fast, I love it. Don’t get me wrong my old PW2 is still good enough but the additional speed means you don’t get the occasional “did I tap to turn page?”. The “experimental” browser is still not great BUT, because of the faster speed and possibly more memory I found it goes from “practically useless” to “potentially useful sometimes”. For example I was surprised I ended up reading a couple of articles off a mailing list in it without getting frustrated or feeling like reaching for my phone. This is great! Mind you, it is still far from perfect, it occasionally just rolls back to the top of the page for longer articles which is stupid but the “Article Mode” is decent. Could use some usability love, like for example it starts with tiny font size and it is not apparent you can increase it (Hint: Pinch to zoom. It will even remember it). Ultimately the additional speed means jumping around the UI/bookmarks etc is SOOO MUCH BETTER. Next, the bigger screen. I love it so much. At first it is noticeable - from a 6” screen - but nothing more. But then you realise you don’t need to tap as often and also for programming books lines are wrapped awkwardly less often! The most amazing thing is of course reaching for my old Kindle and almost laughing at how small the screen now look and feel, almost as if it’s a “toy kindle”. Speaking of the screen: 1) Love the warmer light. Front light seems warmer in general but you can also set the schedule automatically and forget about it (I’m trying mine at 16/24 or 75% and it seems like a good setting) 2) This new Kindle has a “Dark Mode”, I was sceptical at first regarding the legibility of text but once you get used to it it’s fine. It’s much less harsh on your eyes and produces less light in general: Last night I was able to read for awhile without my gf complaining about the light not even once, so that was a success. Nicely the “Dark Mode” button seem to remember the brightest. So for example you could have the normal brightness set to 12/24 but the “Dark Mode” brightness set to 6/12. And when you flip between the two it would adjust the brightness: THIS IS GREAT. A front light BUG: I don’t image Amazon will ever read this review but I noticed a problem when flipping between normal and “Dark Mode” or the other way around: The front light SOMETIMES turns off even if UI says it’s 12/24 for example. Touch the Brightness slider switches the light back on but… This is VERY ANNOYING, especially as - unsurprisingly - you may switch to “Dark Mode” when there isn’t much light in the room (or at all!) and you may well not be able to see anything on the screen! Hope this is just a sign of a new product and they fix it shortly with a software update! Lastly I wanna touch on the battery: Amazon says if you read 30m a day and brightness set at 13/24 it would last 10 weeks or 35 hours (CORRECTION: 12 weeks/42 hours) Leaving a side the fact I read much more than 30m a day for a moment… I am noticing the battery going down much faster than I was somehow expecting. Part of this is no doubt caused by me experimenting with it, comparing with the old Kindle, messing with the UI, etc… Part of this is probably also the fact I’ve used the Browser a little bit. I’ve also played with the front light a bit more and possibly left it at 12/24 a bit more while the old Kindle is constantly at 6/24 brightness. However aside from this, I haven’t used it that much and the batter is already down ~30% in barely one day and an half? You do the math… I don’t keep an eye on the old one as much but despite the fact it’s ~11 years old and the battery is sure to be deteriorated it doesn’t seem to go down as fast. But maybe I’m wrong and this is just an impression. I’ll keep an eye on it. Maybe with more normal usage this is a non-issue, or perhaps is caused by some weird software bug. The good news is the USB-C port is AMAZING. Farewell annoying micro-USB cable I need to keep around just for this device or carry with me on holidays. Plus between my GF bedside table phone charger, my laptop or monitor or PS5 I can now charge my new Kindle pretty much wherever. I love it (even tho hopefully I will still not need to charge it that much). It’s enough for first impressions (possibly too much sorry :D). I may update this after I get my nice leather case and I get the chance to use my new Kindle properly for some non-trivial amount of time. Hope this was useful!

Love the anti glare screen that enables me to read whilst sitting in the garden. So light and easy to hold due to the size but still has a good size reading screen.

Really happy with this kindle. I had to replace an older paperwhite model as it was being discontinued. This new model is a big step forward with tech. Really easy to see books in the library, very visual. Can see what’s been read and what’s part of kindle unlimited so its easy to do returns. Very simple. I went for the one with adds and you just get a suggested title to read when you open the case. Touch sensitivity is really good, much quicker page turns than my older model. Storage is more than I’d ever need! It took it little bit of getting used to using the menus but it’s very intuitive and easy to work out. It’s not heavy either. I was nervous about changing as was happy with my old one but I needn’t have worried, this is much easier to use. Couldn’t be happier.

Ho deciso di autoregalarmi il mio primo Kindle principalmente per comodità: viaggiare con i libri cartacei in borsa o in valigia iniziava a diventare scomodo, e volevo una soluzione leggera e semplice per le vacanze. Inizialmente avevo ordinato la versione senza pubblicità, che sarebbe dovuta arrivare il 30 maggio. Purtroppo Amazon ha posticipato la consegna al 10 giugno. Un po' arrabbiata per il ritardo, ho deciso di annullare l'ordine e di tentare un'altra via: ho acquistato la versione con pubblicità, che era in pronta consegna. Una volta arrivato, ho scoperto che è possibile rimuovere gli annunci in un secondo momento: mi è bastato farlo direttamente dal pannello di gestione dei dispositivi e pagare nel mio caso una differenza di 10€.Problema risolto e Kindle ricevuto subito! Mi sto trovando benissimo. L'effetto dello schermo è incredibile: sembra davvero di leggere un libro di carta, non affatica gli occhi e non ha nulla a che fare con lo schermo di uno smartphone o di un tablet. L'unica cosa su cui devo prendere ancora un attimo la mano è la regolazione dell'illuminazione nelle varie ore della giornata, ma è solo questione di pratica. Per il resto, la leggerezza e la semplicità d'uso durante i viaggi lo rendono il compagno perfetto. Lo straconsiglio!

I had my original Kindle for over a decade and time had taken its toll on the device. Battery started losing charge quicker, was slower to react, etc. So when I saw the Paperwhite on sale I was struggling to choose between it and the Kindle Colorsoft. I ended up trying both out and have to say, unless you're exclusively planning on reading comics/graphic novels/picture books, go with the Paperwhite. It is just a much more refined, sharper device and at a better price than the Colorsoft. Super snappy, new features that provide much needed quality of life improvements. Highly recommended for somebodies first Kindle or if you're looking to upgrade.

Bonne liseuse avec un très bon confort de lecture par rapport à une kindle 6 pouces. Facile d'utilisation, belle écran de 7 pouces avec luminosité et température réglable, pas négligeable pour la lecture le soir beaucoup plus reposant pour les yeux. Pour finir une très grande autonomie de la batterie. Pour ceux qui hésite entre la kindle 6 pouces et la paperwhite je recommande vivement cette liseuse qui répond à toutes les attentes!👌😊

He esperado casi un año para hacer mi reseña, para ser más objetiva. Para empezar, muy contenta. Es mi primer lector electrónico, vengo de leer en móvil y, si era cómic o libro ilustrado, tablet. Y aunque echo de menos detallitos como el efecto de pasar página o los resaltados en colores, por lo general mi experiencia lectora ha mejorado mucho. Leer de noche ya no cansa la vista y el catálogo es enorme y accesible. Libros y novelas que ya tengas descargados son fáciles de enviar desde el ordenador o el teléfono al Kindle mediante gmail. No pesa nada, como sí lo haría un libro físico, y es muy sencillo de transportar a cualquier parte. Además, he leído y oído a muchísima gente quejándose de un brillo amarillento (en lo personal, PREFIERO un brillo cálido y amarillento, precisamente porque cansa menos la vista y así lo tengo configurado en mi Kindle, de hecho), pero no sé si es que me ha tocado el caballo ganador, he ganado la lotería de los Kindle o qué, pero el mío, si le pones la calidez a cero, se ve blanco totalmente. Y brillante, si subes tal configuración. Nada de "brillo apagado", "ilegible", "manchas amarillas enormes"... Todo genial. Y si las hay, en persona no se notan. El paso de páginas es también bastante rápido y fluido, pocas veces se queda la sombra de la página anteriormente vista... El único pero es que el precio es elevado. Al menos, en comparación con otros e-Readers que hay en el mercado y que cuentan con aún más funciones que los de la familia Kindle. Y que nunca se llega a cargar al 100% de batería. Una vez lo conseguí, pero el Kindle al 100% es como un unicornio a estas alturas. Por lo demás, espero que me dure muchos años porque estoy muy contenta con él y ha sido una genial inversión.
