Simple, inexpensive Egg Cooker makes perfect soft-boiled/hardboiled eggs!!!!!
I love poached eggs but using 2 or 3 cups of water for 2 eggs and waiting for the water to boil was annoying, not to mention having to clean a teflon-free pan with egg glomming onto the sides.... until I found this little thing. I don't actually use the little plastic poaching pan that comes with this, I just stand them up on the grid and steam them. Then I do like the Brits do, whack off the top and either eat it right out of shell or spoon it on to a plate. Perfect every time! Uses a couple of tablespoons of water compared to a whole pan and cooks in about 5 minutes cutting my consumption of electricity and water! I And no cleaning egg residue out of the saucepan! I concede I'm not as handy as the Brits whacking off the top but bought an egg cracker that does the job quite well. And it would be a good idea to have at least one egg cup to hold the egg while you open it because it's VERY hot right out of the steamer and could be more than a little messy without the egg cup! It also does a great job hard boiling eggs too, also saving time and water. I've used this little gizmo 4 or 5 times a week for 2 1/2 years and it's still steaming away. The tray that heats the water needs to be wiped down pretty often as the steam/water removes the "bloom" from the eggshell and, combined with the chemicals in the water, can get a little crusty. However, that crusty stuff stays on the bottom and doesn't touch the egg inside the shell and comes off easily with a little soapy soak. I don't use a micro-wave and won't cook food in plastic, but since these eggs stay in the shell and nothing plastic touches the inner-egg it's about as pristine a process as I can make it, conserves energy, cuts the wait time considerably and makes perfect soft-boiled and hard-boiled eggs! It's a genius little cooker! (I gave 7 to friends and family for Christmas! ) So simple and inexpensive!

Why am I obsessed with an egg cooker?
Perfection in an egg maker. I love it. I kid you not I am buying one for each of my family members for Christmas. This cooks the eggs perfectly. It’s easy. It’s fun so to a cute little song it plays when it’s done. It’s easy to clean with a melamine sponge. It doesn’t leak or stress me out at all. It’s a set and forget perfect egg cooking machine. Did I mention it also has been the easiest egg peeling experience of my lifetime? Just plop those bad boys into some ice water for 5 minutes straight after it’s cute little song plays and in 3 minutes or less you have 7 perfectly peeled beautifully cooked delicious hard boiled eggs.

Compact, easy to use, and makes eggs ridiculously effortless
I bought this mainly for hard-boiled eggs, but I’ve also used the poacher and omelette functions. Yes, boiling eggs isn’t technically hard, but this makes it so much easier and more consistent!!!! The unit is super compact, doesn’t take up much counter or cabinet space and it is so so easy to use. You just add water, set it, and that's it. It'll sing to you when it's done. This takes all the guesswork out of hard-boiled eggs (no timing, no watching a pot). It will let you know when it is done by chiming (once the water is all evaporated) and the eggs come out consistently cooked every time. Poaching and omelette trays are a nice bonus and work well, but I don't use them too often. And the cleanup is basically non existent lol, I wipe down the stainless area where the water goes and rinse out the egg holder and lid. This is one of those appliances that seems unnecessary until you use it, and then you wonder why you waited so long. It saves time, eliminates overcooked or undercooked eggs, and makes meal prep way more convenient. It is perfect for anyone who eats eggs regularly, meal preps, or just wants a faster, cleaner, no-stress way to make eggs. Especially great for busy mornings. I make them on a Sunday and have fresh hard boiled eggs all week! Hard-boiling eggs may be simple, but this makes it effortless. It is compact, reliable, and easy to use, with added versatility from the poacher and omelette features. One of those small appliances that actually earns its spot in the kitchen.

Perfect hard boiled eggs every time
This is super easy to use and creates perfect hard boiled eggs where the shell slides off without issue. Doesn’t take up very much storage space either. The timer alarm is noticeable but not annoying.

A Waste of Time
Rarely do I encounter a device I put so much hope into that failed so miserably. Before I go into details, I should say the eggs I buy aren’t commercial grocery store eggs but rather small local farm pasture raised ones. This may have an effect on the cooker’s failure to work for me. These shells are much thicker and sturdier than normal grocery store eggs. That may be why I’ve abandoned using this device. We eat many hard boiled eggs here. I wanted a neater way to get the eggs hard boiled than the put in a boiling water pot, wait 11 minutes and then ice bath them. This isn’t it. My first issue is the instructions to poke a hole in the large end of each egg to prevent cracking. The pin supplied at the end of the water measure won’t do it. Instead it, likely due to the tougher than usual shell, crushes the egg being poked. This explodes the egg so I then need to clean the cooker, the rest of the eggs loaded, the counter, the floor and change my clothes. Annoying to say the least. Even so the hole isn’t all that effective even when it works. Please see the images. In it you can see one egg that cracked during cooking making a mess of itself, the cooker and a few adjacent eggs. The egg that sprayed its contents all around did have a good hole in it prior to the heat going on. I’m tired of exploding eggs from the hole poking process. Tired of those that split during cooking even if holed and mystified as to why this whizzbang may be an improvement over the boiling water approach. To me this is an experiment that failed to show an improved path to hard boiled egg preparation.

Every ketovore/carnivore needs this!
Finally, I can easily cook hard boiled eggs and they actually peel nearly perfectly! As a ketovore, having quick, high protein snacks is necessary! My friend has been using one of these for years and she convinced me that this is exactly what I need! We often eat only two meals daily, but sometimes before bedtime I'm really hungry. I pulled out one of my hard boiled eggs I had made earlier in the day, sliced it up and added butter on top and microwaved it for about 30 seconds. The egg had no grey rings and had a very slightly jelly inside. It was so delicious and the warmth was fantastic before bedtime. My sleep was noticeably improved! Great addition to my kitchen and it is so small that I easily found a place to store it!

On/Off button did not work on my unit.
My item was defective. The on/off button had no discernible effect. Other than that it made a perfect hard-boiled egg, but I had to unplug it to shut it up. I did not talk to customer service, it is a relatively cheap item and I did not want to spend time on the phone proving my dissatisfaction.

Information
Worked great I did a lot of research before I bought this, when you puncture the big end of the egg don’t puncture it so deep that you also puncture the egg membrane, that is apparently what causes the egg to cook out on top of the shell. Don’t use the full length of the needle. Don’t puncture the small end of the egg. Punctured side goes up. When you puncture it correctly it’s a very small hole. It was very easy to clean in fact it wasn’t dirty after using. To get rid of the hard water stains on the bottom stainless plate just pour a capful of vinegar and a little water on it and rub with sponge. The eggs peeled very easily . Perfect looking and could be used for deviled eggs.

Useless
Came without an EU plug. I purchased an adapter and after attempting to boil eggs multiple times the results were useless. All combinations produced very undercooked eggs. Large eggs do not fit and even small eggs do not cook properly. Waste of money!

No cumple al 100%
El producto no tiene un temporizador, el instructivo indica que el tiempo está automatizado ya que detecta la cantidad de huevo y agua, sin embargo, no quedan de acuerdo a lo requerido, hay que hacer un “double check”

NOT USABLE IN THE UK, HAS THE WRONG PLUG!!
DO NOT PURCHASE, UNUSABLE IN THE UK!! This item comes with a US plus, making it unusable in the UK. First I tried using a normal adapter for the plugs, but the item overheats since the voltage is double in the UK vs US (so the water boils way too fast and overheats instantly). I then kept trying and even purchased a 'step down converter' for the voltage the item still doesn't work (it just turns off after 20 seconds). Best to just avoid this all together and find one that actually works here to start.

US PLUG
I did read the reviews before buying ... and realised that some egg cookers had a US plug. However, since there were so many people in the UK giving 5 star reviews - I thought that must be an occasional occurrence. I was wrong. Mine too had a US plug. Amazon was very gracious and gave me a full refund without requiring a return. I will donate this to the recycling bin (on top of).
