Extech 445703 Big Digit Indoor Humidity & Temperature Meter, Digital Hygrometer Thermometer with Min/Max & Alarm for Home, Office, Greenhouse

I am glad I purchased this humidity & temperature indicator before I purchased a humidifier. I found out that I did not need a humidifier ( found out the bedroom is 45% to 50% RH ). The unit is well made, does not run through batteries, & I am happy with it.

I have been using this hygro-thermometer thru both a summer and a winter season in my house. The big digits are just perfect. No more looking for the meter and then hunting up some reading glasses! I was able to borrow a high quality hygrometer and no this isn't as accurate but it's pretty close. It's usually off by about 1% but I never found it off by more than 4% which is just fine for my purposes. In the winter I have an inline humidifying system and I want to keep track of its setting (and it also reminds me to turn it off when warm weather arrives). Though I didn't have a chance to check the accuracy of the thermometer, it certainly seems to be within the usual +or- 1 or 2 degrees. If you move it from atop a high shelf to the floor just below, it shows what I expected to see, a 1.5 degree difference. It is great that you can move it from room to room easily, wait a few minutes to get the best reading and then I can tell where the hot spots are in my single zone heated house. So for the cost, real value for your money.

this Hygro-thermometer was an excellent choice for me as it has such large numbers and it makes it so easy to read for me with my poor eyesight. seems to be pretty accurate as far as temperature goes when I compare it to my other indoor thermometer. the hygrometer seems fine as it fluctuates with the temperature and if I have my humidifier turned on. very convenient instrument.

I have four these and noticed that, while the temperature readings seem pretty accurate, the humidity levels are questionable. The two in the photo have been in my basement in the same spot for several days. The humidity readings are very different while the temperature readings are identical (though they do drift apart sometimes by a few tenths). The batteries are fresh in each and the units have been reset. So it's hard to tell which humidity reading is the correct one. Other than that, the display is large and easy to ready. The batteries last a long time. The Max/Min button maintains a convenient record of the highest and lowest recorded temperature and humidity levels.

I need a movable and accurate Hygro-thermometer for varnishing I do. This instrument is very accurate and very easy to read. I checked it with two other instruments and it was right on. It can easily be hung or it stands up with the built in stand. This is the second Extech meter I have owned and I am impressed with their accuracy and quality. I dropped the first one a few times and it is still working after a couple of years and it is still accurate. This is a great value.

After my (very unofficial) home testing of this unit, I find it acceptable for the typical home use. Other posters here have done much more exhausting analysis Temp readings are right on, and the unit is very responsive. RH (relative humidity) readings are close enough to satisfy my needs. Not a bad unit, but not a true scientifically accurate tool to be sure. I can only offer 4 stars because I believe that the claims for this unit are a bit rosy. Decent buy though. Get one. This is definitely a five star product, am glad I found it and found it on Amazon. Had ordered one day, have 2 Day Prime, but item was here in 1 (one) day. Had just ordered a new shipment of orchids and this was ordered for their benefit. Have other thermometers and hygrometers, but as was enlarging plant growing area, needed an additional instrument. They have all been accurate and this new one agrees with the previous owned ones to within +/- 1 degree. The large digital read out is a definite plus over the older analog ones. The little stand on the back makes it easy to prop this up next to the exact plants one is trying to get a reading for. The only draw back has been that to open the stand from the unit takes a little too much muscle and the first time I opened it, the stand flew half way across the room. But it was easy to re-insert. Certainly not a flaw to prevent me from buying this unit again. And it looks nice amongst the orchids.

I bought this to monitor the humidity inside my house to control moisture condensation on the windows during the sub-zero weather that we have every winter. My last hygrometer read 35% - 42% no matter what room I put it in, this one gave me a true readings from 18% - 36% and calibrated the humidity very quickly when relocated. For a hydrometer without a probe outside of its housing, this one gives quite accurate and fast readings, you have to spend about $50 to get a better hydrometer than this one. I'm very pleased with its accurately, readability and quality.
