so cute and PERFECT for beginners!!
I recently got into hand embroidering and had only practiced a couple of stitches on those cheap hoops they put in kits and almost gave up. I ordered these and this was my first ever real project and I’m so happy I kept with it!! Super great price point for overall appearance and ease of use. These hoops hold my fabric perfectly, are durable, and add such a cute touch for projects you want to leave in a hoop!

Heavy duty
Very sturdy and made of thick nice plastic. The game wood grain is believable and good. Very satisfied.

Actually looks like wood, not super fake looking!
These smell awful when they arrive but are absolutely so cute! Please let them air outside for a few hours and they they’re totally fine. They actually look like wood unlike the ones I saw at Hobby Lobby. Please note these are for FINISHED PRODUCTS not for using while you’re embroidering/ cross-stitching. They are very stiff, took a little to figure out how to open them, just twist them back and forth until the two pieces separate. Makes the most darling decoration!

Installation was not easy until I found out how to do it.
If you live in a cold house as I do, this thing is impossible to separate. I used my own body heat to soften it (put it under my t-shirt for a couple of minutes) then held the hoop with both hands like driving a car, pushed out the inner white circle with both thumbs. Before putting the fabric on, "massage" the outer faux-wood circle by twisting it in all directions. Worth the effort. It looks pretty polished. Taking one star off for a lack of instruction.

Crafting ideas
I used this for a craft to make a suncatcher and it worked great!

Excellent look and easy to use!
I’ve ordered this set of hoops three times and have always been happy with the quality and how they look. I really don’t understand some of these other reviews I’ve read. For instance one reviewer said beware that they weren’t wood… ?? Umm hello.. it literally says that they’re not wood in several places lol. Another reviewer says that they’re great to put the finished product in for display but not great for actually using. Why not? Holding it while embroidering works and feels exactly the same as the traditional wooden hoops. If you *actually read the listing* you should be very happy with this purchase.

The good, the bad and the ugly
So, I obviously bought these to frame a finished embroidery project and here's what I found. The Good: They held the embroidery very securely. They are a bit tricky to get on because you have to "stretch" them into a plastic groove while maintaining the center of the piece. Once it's in, it stays put. The Bad: Where do I start. #1 - Well they stink! I expected some gassing-off on a rubber product but these are AWFUL! Yes, I put them outside to air out but they still stink. I mean REALLY bad. #2 - They are slightly over 6 inches that your finished piece will show, so you'll want to be aware to check first if you have a circle or edging in your design. #3 - The inner plastic circles are not round, on mine at least. There is a slight oval to them so beware. #4 - I made the mistake of rubbing my eye after framing and it felt like I poured a chemical in my eye with the burn. Guess I didn't let them are out long enough or maybe I should have washed them in vinegar first. The Ugly: They are pretty ugly but I knew what they looked like before buying. Cheap stinky rubber. Oh well.

It’s not wooden.
Looks good. Holds the cloth well. Beautiful handle. The brown part is made of rubber. And the frame inside is plastic.
