ShadowFlux Series

These are very good solar panels for RVs. An RV roof is busy with vents, AC units, and shade trees that cast shade on panels. The ShadowFlux has diode bypassing so if a leaf or partial shade from an AC unit hits you won't lose total production. These are the perfect size for Travel Trailers. I buy, sell and install these for friends and family. I've installed these on RVs, job site trailers and Race team hauler trailers. I always make it standard procedure to test the panel before I put it on the roof, today in Southwest lower Michigan April 3rd, with a blue sky, the solar panel tilted to the sun was making 183watts, and last June I was getting 202watts with a blue sky. I can cover the panel with my hat and it drops down to 142watts which is to be expected, the standard type N would drop to 70 watts... THE diode bypassing technology is a game changer and went paired with type in Construction cells, It doesn't get any better than this. Size: these are a couple of inches wider than the 200 W panels of four years ago and about 4 1/4 inches shorter. A plus! Measured size is 30"x 49 3/4" and weighs 24lbs... This translates to smaller size and more power out, they are more efficient. They can be used in series or parallel, I install these on 12 V operating system system RV's all day long and I let the charge control controller do its magic. The open circuit voltage is 36 1/2 V, when plugged into a charge controller to charge a battery a solar panel voltage is 31 V plus or minus Sunshade, and your charge controller is set up for your battery voltage, everyone deal with is a 12.8 V operating system... Don't let some of the reviews on here concern you about the voltage, your MPPT charge control controller will allow you to set the battery voltage ! These are a great value with 28 bypass diodes per solar panel, incredible advancement in solar technology. A great value for your money, especially with the smaller footprint, the power output, and the ability to charge well on days when it's not perfectly sunny. We just recently added a second one to my brothers camper and he loves it for keeping his batteries topped off, and the refrigerator is cold! Will Prowse also have these 5stars of 5! Could not be more impressed with this* It's far lighter than another folding, portable array we have that's rated for 400 watts but has never actually achieved anywhere near that possibly because we're not on the equator, a defect or a used item sold as new with a defect* Whatever, this array works splendid* This is half as heavy and though it does not fold up, it takes up more or less the same space in the car as the folding version of another brand* It's proving 158 watts out of the box in less than perfect conditions as it's somewhat hazy out and this while the array is a little bit in the shade* Whether you have a fixed or mobile application, this is the best we've had so far* Pro tip for mobile: they sell these clothes hanging rods on Amazon that clip into the grab handles of a vehicle interior* We use one on these deployed in the rear passenger area and then another suspended from 'S' hooks from mounting brackets already welded into the car body* Use the polyethylene packaging strips as a cushioned platform for the panel to ride on, tie these onto the clothes rods with rope so they don't move around* We open the hatchback and slide the panel onto this assembly face up towards the ceiling* It doesn't take up a lot of room and the panel doesn't extend into the forward cab area or take up any head room*

Bought four panels for a total of 800 watts on our trailer roof. They are small enough and light enough to fit most roofs. Best output so far has been 730 Watts on a clear sunny day. We wired them in the series/parallel to maximize output. We paired this with a victron 150/60 solar charger and have had no problems.

I bought two of these Solar Panels and they work great for what I need. I put them on top of my Express Van. I use a Renogy Rover 40 amp controller. I run them into a big Duracell AGM deep cycle battery. I run a Chinese diesel parking heater and a vent fan off them. The controller is in float mode most of the time at about 13.8 Volts. I am in North Dakota and as long as I can keep the snow of them in the winter they keep everything charged. I also have them linked to a AGM start battery under the hood that is hooked through a isolator. I have had this set up for a while and never had a problem. Both solar panels came shipped in the original manufacturers packaging and nothing was broken. Very Happy with them and would buy again.

I purchased a single 200w Shadowflux panel thinking I’d be disappointed and would probably have to return it. Nope! All the hype is true. These panels will actually put out a bit more than their rating. They also excel at making power in mottled shade, which is a game-changer for mobile use. I was impressed enough from my initial testing to order 5 more, which I promptly installed on the roof of a 24 foot toy hauler. Rolling along between 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM I routinely see between 1000 and 1200 watts, with excursions to 1300… at which point the Victron MPPT clips it. In a 12-volt system thats >100 amps of output. Something for all my toy-hauler friends to know: two 200-watt Renogy Shadowflux panels mounted end to end span 100 inches. So if you have an 8.5 foot wode trailer (ie, 102 inches) this means you have a perfect fit. The panels are 50 x 30 inches, which means you can stuff 1.2 kw of solar in LESS THAN 8 FEET OF TRAILER LENGTH. Pretty cool, especially when you realize that a 10.000 BTU 12-volt inverter AC can be run on high (60 amps) even while you are reliably putting 20-30 amps back into the battery. And that is just for six panels. Add a few more panels and some big LiFePo4 batteries and you can have a complete no-worries off-grid solution. I’m giving these a solid 5/5. Well worth the extra cost IMHO.

FIRST SAVE THE SHIPPING BOXES- my mistake thinking I would not need them. You will for warranty claim to ship back! I bought 3 of these panels for top of RV. From the start I questioned if working correctly. Sometimes it looked like working right but then next day or 2 they would hardly put out 100 watts out of 600 in full sunny day. It’s been over 5 months now and have never seen over 400 watts total from 600watts in full direct sun. Been going back and forth with manufacturer-Renogy for over a month now. They are very slow to respond you and keep requesting taking different multi meter measurements instead of all at same time. Finally agreed to replace the panels but will have to send them in first before replacements sent, so if you didn’t save the shipping box you are SOL…so this is where I’m at now. I offered to provide my credit card number to hold so they can send out the replacement and I can use that box to return them. Well at first they said yes now they are saying no claiming per their policy…? Their policy is a “suitable box” what the heck is a suitable box and where would I get a large 200watt solar panel shipping box? SO KEEP YOUR SHIPPING BOXES ATLEAST UNTIL WARRANTY RUNS OUT! The only PRO and 1 star treatment is they do provide a return shipping label, that deserves a star. definitely be cautious buying these panels, I was sold on the anti shading technology but if it doesn’t work right it doesn’t matter what technology it has and the manufacturer’s service is definitely lacking and be ready for a long drawn out process. I believe it’s overseas customer support too the email responses come later in evenings and the middle of night, during early in the week is slow to no response. Sometimes 3-5 days before a response.

I love my panel. People talking bad about durability but mines 8 months old been backed into by a truck and my dog is always trying to mess with it still works great. Usually pulls between 155-180 watts in Florida sun with the heat. I personally recommend it. You can go cheeper but I like the fact it pulls the watts even in the shade when my 100w off brand can't.

Works so well, I bought another. *Testing it in my yard prior to actually putting these in the field the first panel 120W was doing over 100W's, and this was just resting atop of a box. My application (angle) is NOT optimal at all. I have one flush mounted on my Ford Expedition feeding 2 LiFePo4 100Ah Batteries that completely power my 1KW Mobile Ham Radio system. it pushes 40W on a cloudy day facing straight up. 60-80 on a reg. day. KEEP IN MIND this is literally face up on my truck NOT AT ALL FACING THE SUN. it works so well, that I have an in-line cut-off switch to power it down otherwise my 2 batteries NEVER GO BELOW 95%. My Ham System is pulling 1A idle 24/7 with security camera's and 50A without linear Amplifier, 80A-120A with Linear ON. So on Avg. I run 30A for 8 hours a day. and the other panel is 80' up in a 140' TREE - powering a (DUAL) 50W Repeater System that has a cellular HotSpot & 2 wireless cameras for my keeping an eye on it remotely. with 2-30Ah batteries. it has been up there for 8 months without an issue. This panel is literally hanging from a tree branch facing south/sun-side under a lot of large branches. Also I hate to say it, but prior to strapping the panel down to the tree - the wind had blown it all through the night for a week banging it constantly! then when I went out to properly secure it at the bottom, it fell! you can see the height from the video, the only thing that happened was the frame "not at the panel" but at the lower inside part bent in 2 places. this panel is still working perfectly. amazing. The ShadowFlux. or 16 BB (Bus Bars) make it so as to have 16 paths of power' worth it for sure.
