What percentage of the ingredience is actually the mushroom its self?

This product has been tested with all top brands sold on Amazon and it was found to contain the lowest amount of active ingredients do to the fact that it is not made from the fruited body of the mushroom. It is made from mycelium growing on grain. So this product is mostly grain, not mushroom. It contains less than 2% of active ingredients. Products using the fruited body are above 20% active ingredient.

Can this product be used for dogs/

Absolutely. My dog was diagnosed with grade 2 mast cell cancer at the age of 8. She underwent surgery and radiation as the mass was very locally invasive they could not get clean margins. When she started treatment, I transitioned her to a low temperature cooked whole food diet, added this supplement, along with turmeric, fish oil, and raw coconut water. It has been almost 4 years now and she is still cancer free. I give her this supplement every day. Penn Vet did a study on an extract of Turkey Tail mushroom and its efficacy in inhibiting cancer progression. This is a well-studied mushroom, and is entirely well tolerated by dogs. I forget where I got the dosage, but my dog is 50lbs and I give her 1 capsule in the morning, sprinkled into her food, and one capsule in the evening. I keep her on a raw diet now, as well, as she has always had trouble with traditional kibble.

Via e-mail, a rep  from the company informed me this is not an extract and does not indicate percentages.  Their liquid extract does not indicate percentages either. Now these capsules without percentages were the capsules used in both cancer studies. I asked the following to them:  "Are there any plans to list one or more bioactive ingredients and the percentages,i.e., polysaccharides, triterpenoids on your label for your extracts as well as capsules? If so, will you offer a standardized product and have a seal of approval from an organization that tests supplements? Many customers do have a concern with the above information not being available. I believe Swanson provides a percentage for their capsules and I believe it is standardized. If the above were provided, I believe people would feel much more comfortable spending the money for your products."  Their answer was that they will forward the suggestions to upper managerment.  Being that the study did indicate the freeze dried capsules greatly improved immunity at 9 grams, that is what I take for 3 months at a time and alternate with Nature's Answer Echinacea Liquid Extract as they do indicate percentages.

anyone know how this brand compares to MRL - Mycology Research Labs which is the one i see cited in studies re cancer ?

For what's it worth, I can only tell from experience. I've known a few people who have taken Host Defense Turkey Tail post-cancer treatment and all have been in good health since. For whether this product actually works or not, I can only tell from what I've seen first-hand. Also to note, all of these people also had to change their diet to a healthy one. So don't expect results if you're eating Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC, while taking this supplement.
