Well Rounded Dongle for Windows + Linux
I paid £7.96 for this USB Wifi Dongle on sale and for the price this is top tier value. On Windows 11 initially it will show up as a tiny usb storage device with the driver included, a double click and it installs in just a few moments, and now gets correctly recognised as a WiFi device on that specific PC. Internet speeds average ~260 Mbps. which is close the boxs claimed 2.4ghz max transfer rate of 286 Mbps. However gaming is less about pure speed and more about network latency and im happy to report that ping is speedy and reliable. It's perfectly fine for casual online gaming in my time testing it. Linux A welcome surprise, despite this listing advertising no Linux compatibility, the product box itself says it supports "Linux kernel 3.10~6.8". Granted it doesnt work immediately and you will need to manually download and install a driver but I didnt find it too much of a hassle and its infinitely better then zero Linux support. I managed to get it working on linux distros like Debian 13 and Ubuntu 24.04.4, both on real hardware and inside a virtual machine. Ironically, I can't get the official linux drivers from UGREEN download centre to work, tried both the driver package and manually compiling, but thankfully there is a tenda driver for a different WiFi dongle also works with this one due to both sharing the same WiFi chipset. It works for debian based Linux distributions. There is also a community github driver you can try for non debian based Linux distributions but I havent tested it yet. I can't post the links here but it should be one of the first results when searching "reddit UGREEN AX900 driver" in r/linuxmint So yeah, the painless windows setup, fast and consistent speed and ping, plus linux compatibility makes for a versatile product that well exceeded my expectations.

Combo WiFi/Bluetooth dongle, works great!
Grabbed this to fix a spare netbook with a dead WiFi driver, and it just worked: plugged in, connected within seconds, no driver hunting or setup hassle. Having both WiFi and Bluetooth in one small dongle is the real win here since it doesn't stick out or get in the way. Got it on sale for £7.99 (down from £10.99). I only use it for casual browsing on the netbook, anything needing a stable connection goes through a wired PC, but for that it's had zero issues so far. Solid little fix for an old laptop.

Driver issues
Device works fine when it works. If you power off from the wall (desktop pc) and power it back on the device tries to reinstall the driver which causes windows to not properly find all my storage devices (nvme, sata ssd, sata hdd) which makes trying to save documents etc impossible until I remove the device and replug it back in. I would recommend the device if they fix the driver issue. The support wasn't alot of help (Ugreen) which they suggested to do things in device manager to disable "USB selective suspend setting" and to reinstall the driver (made 0 difference).

Cheap but powerfull.
I picked up this USB Wi‑Fi 6 dongle for my backup mini PC, mainly as a low cost solution to keep it online without running extra cables. For something this cheap, I wasn’t expecting much but it’s actually been a pleasant surprise. The connection holds steady at around 300 Mbps on my 1 Gb fibre line, which is more than enough for streaming, remote access, updates, and general day to day use. It’s stable, doesn’t randomly drop out, and the setup was completely painless. Plug it in, install the driver, and it just works. Of course, it won’t replace a proper internal Wi‑Fi card or wired connection, but for a budget USB adapter, the performance is genuinely impressive. If you need a simple, reliable way to get a spare PC online without spending much, this little dongle does the job far better than expected.

Absolutely excellent so far
So far so good. It will allow me to keep the spare W10 laptop used for streaming (while ironing etc) going for a while longer. Initially, I couldn't find the new router and thought it wouldn't work (laptop has wifi2only, it's that old). But I used to work in the sector in the 80s, so I persisted. This time I opened This PC, found the setup, and initialised it. Still had a problem. So I installed the network manually, giving it a second WPA. Bingo. Works like a charm now. Good Mbps in a poorish area. Streams like a dream. I will edit if I get issues. If this seems simplistic, sorry, I'm 80+ and proud of myself.

Decent USB 3 with backward compatible Network device .
For the price, this is a very good product. The driver is built into the USB stick itself. At first, it may seem like the USB network device isn’t recognized, but there’s no need to worry. When you plug it in, a new drive appears on your Windows PC. Simply open that drive, double-click the setup file, and installation completes within seconds. In terms of speed, performance will vary depending on the USB port used. Connected to a USB 2.0 port, I achieved speeds of up to 240 Mbps. On USB 1.0, speeds were around 40 Mbps for both upload and download, which is still decent for most HD streaming. Not tested on USB 3.0 but likely to get 400+ speeds . if you have a device with 3.0 socket , not likely you will require this anyways as the PC would have onboard cards to support Dual Band (2G+5G) . I haven’t experienced any connection drops so far, suggesting it provides a stable and reliable connection.

Reliability not its forte
Variable performance - sometimes the signal is clear and fast, other times, particularly after waking up the computer after it sleeps, it is slow to respond and doesn't remember the wifi configuration. Other times it seems to have problems with the driver, which has been reinstalled. Can't recommend this.

Very Effective Wifi Dongle
Best thing I have ordered this year; I got a PC a couple months ago and I ordered one that had built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers but I couldn't connect to either of them. I had to use an ethernet cable and a range extender for a long time, and it was not a good experience since it kept disconnecting at random points when I was working and lost some pretty valuable progress on what I was doing. I even tried to install the drivers myself but each installation process failed. I then found out that I could buy these things called dongles or WIFI drivers that I could just plug into my PC, so I gave this one a chance and now I was able to connect to the internet perfectly fine, and this really made my day. The range is great, good internet speeds, and functions how it should, and pretty much compatible with any PC so I'd highly recommended this. Also bought the Bluetooth driver too, and both of them came literally hours after I ordered. Now not only can I connect to the internet, but with the keyboard, mouse and headphones that I ordered, I can use them wirelessly instead of being wired and making my workspace look extremely messy with cables and wires. Thanks UGREEN, I can always trust this brand.

UGREEN AX900 USB WiFi 6 Adapter
The UGREEN AX900 is a compact but surprisingly powerful WiFi 6 adapter designed for desktops and laptops that need a fast, modern wireless upgrade. With dual‑band support and USB 3.0 connectivity, it delivers strong performance for streaming, gaming, and everyday browsing. 👍 Pros • WiFi 6 performance (802.11ax) Offers faster speeds, better efficiency, and improved stability compared to older WiFi 5 adapters. • Dual‑band support (5GHz & 2.4GHz) • 5GHz for high‑speed tasks like gaming, 4K streaming, and large downloads • 2.4GHz for longer range and better wall penetration • USB 3.0 interface Ensures the adapter can actually reach its advertised speeds without bottlenecking. • Strong signal reception The external antenna design helps maintain stable connections even at longer distances from the router. • Plug‑and‑play on most systems Works smoothly on Windows 10/11, and many users report automatic driver installation. • Compact and portable Easy to move between devices or take on the go Chipset & Architecture • The AX900 typically uses a Realtek 8852BU WiFi 6 chipset. • Supports 802.11ax, 802.11ac, 802.11n, and legacy modes. • OFDMA and MU‑MIMO support allow more efficient multi‑device traffic handling. • USB 3.0 interface ensures the adapter isn’t bandwidth‑limited by the port. Why this matters The 8852BU is known for strong 5GHz performance, good driver support on Windows, and stable throughput under load. 📡 RF Performance & Antenna Behavior • External high‑gain antenna improves signal capture and reduces packet loss. • Antenna is tuned for dual‑band operation, but peak efficiency is on 5GHz. • Real‑world tests show: • 5GHz: Strong performance within 20–30 feet, even through one wall. • 2.4GHz: Better penetration but lower throughput, as expected. RF Notes • The antenna has a fixed angle, so you can’t fine‑tune directionality. • Sensitivity is good, but not on par with multi‑antenna PCIe cards. 🚀 Throughput & Speed Characteristics Expected real‑world speeds (with a WiFi 6 router): • 5GHz (802.11ax): ~600–850 Mbps • 5GHz (802.11ac): ~350–550 Mbps • 2.4GHz (802.11ax): ~120–180 Mbps These numbers depend heavily on: • Router quality • Channel width (80 MHz recommended) • Interference • USB port placement Latency • Average ping: 6–12 ms on 5GHz WiFi 6 • Slightly higher on 2.4GHz due to congestion and modulation limits 🖥️ Driver Behavior & OS Notes • Windows 10/11: Plug‑and‑play, stable drivers • Linux: Requires manual driver installation for the 8852BU chipset • macOS: Not supported Driver quirks • Some users report the adapter gets warm during sustained transfers. • Occasional reconnects can happen if plugged into low‑power USB hubs. 🔥 Thermal Characteristics • The adapter can reach 45–55°C during heavy downloads or gaming. • Heat does not typically cause throttling, but it’s noticeable to the touch. • Best performance is achieved when plugged into a well‑ventilated USB 3.0 port. 🧪 Ideal Use Cases • Desktop PCs without built‑in WiFi • Gaming (moderate latency, stable throughput) • 4K streaming • Large file transfers • Upgrading older laptops to WiFi 6 Not ideal for: • Linux users without driver experience • Ultra‑low‑latency competitive gaming • Systems with only USB 2.0 ports (speed bottleneck) 🏁 Technical Verdict The UGREEN AX900 is a strong mid‑range WiFi 6 USB adapter with: • Excellent 5GHz performance • Solid Realtek chipset • Good driver stability • Strong throughput for a USB device It won’t match a PCIe WiFi 6 card with multiple antennas, but for a USB adapter, it delivers impressive technical performance. Cons • Performance depends on router quality To get the full benefit of WiFi 6, you need a WiFi 6 router; older routers will limit speed. • Can get warm during heavy use Not dangerously hot, but noticeable during large downloads or gaming sessions. • Driver support varies by OS Windows is well supported, but Linux users may need manual driver installation. • Antenna angle is fixed Some users prefer fully adjustable antennas for fine‑tuning signal direction. Final Thoughts The UGREEN AX900 WiFi 6 Adapter is a strong, affordable upgrade for anyone wanting faster, more stable wireless performance on a desktop PC. It’s especially good for users who stream, game, or work with large files. While it’s not a substitute for a wired connection, it delivers impressive speed and reliability for a USB adapter.

Fast and stable connection; a simple and effective WiFi upgrade
This UGREEN WiFi 6 adapter is a fantastic solution for adding high-speed wireless connectivity to a desktop or laptop without an internal card. The setup was plug-and-play on my Windows 11 system, and the signal strength is impressively strong and stable even through multiple walls. I've noticed a significant improvement in both download speeds and latency during online gaming compared to my old WiFi 5 dongle. The compact design doesn't block adjacent USB ports, and the build quality feels solid and reliable. It's a very cost-effective way to take advantage of WiFi 6 speeds; I highly recommend it for a hassle-free network upgrade.
