Is this pure copper or at least some kind of conductive blend so it could be used in science class for electromagnetic experiments?

The packaging only reads copper but I put a magnet to it and it had zero reaction so my guess is your good to go with it.

What is the thickness of this item?

It's a little hard to tell. It's not specified but if I had to guess, I'd have to say 1 to 2 mils thick. The width is 1/4 inch. Hope this helps.

Is this black on the sticky side?

If it is black on the sticky side, the product details should mention that. I use foil that is also copper colored on the sticky side, because I generally use copper patina.
