2026 AX3000 Outdoor WiFi 6 Extender, WAVLINK Long-Range WiFi Access Point

First off, this thing is a powerhouse. Needed something to provide stable long range WIFI at our farm for cameras. This does the trick. Reading, range says 5 acres, thats an understatement. I tested this in the pasture and had video calling usability even at distances exceeding 700ft from the AP on 2.5ghz. I had connectivity at over 1000ft. 5ghz is a little more fickle, it seems to cover about 150ft from the AP. To be fair, our farm is on the plains and pretty much gave the AP its best shot in its best conditions. Mounted it 20ft off the ground with minimal obstructions. Now about those obstructions... This thing is high power but transmission shadows are real. This will not penetrate buildings. We have a cow barn that completely blotted out the signal behind it, as well as an old wash house. Ironically, these are where we had two cameras placed. If you have lots of trees or cannot get it up high enough you may not be as successful. As is, I'll probably be adding another, at which point I surmise it will cover the full 30 acres of our place. The TL;DR: If you need a large blanket of WIFI this is probably a strong bet- works better than point-to-point, and can blast 2.5ghz well over a quarter mile. Setup is stupid easy, works well with Starlink (caveat, the starlink often acts more like furniture than an access point), and would recommend. Only pain point is the price!

The external 7dBi antennas are all horizontal when mounted on a ceiling and that's perfect if you think about the "donut" coverage around each antenna. As it's on the ceiling out of sight I've been able to put it in a perfectly central place of the house, and high. I like seeing the external antennas as it gives me confidence in the coverage profile. It covers my 5,000 sq ft house with excellent 5G. To me, "excellent" means that in the weakest room one floor and 3 walls away, wifi analyzer app on phone sees -65 dBm 5G and -55 dBm 2.4G. In that weakest room, SpeedTest/Ookla app on Pixel 4A phone shows 246 Mbps down and 16 Mbps up which far exceeds what we need. Moving the phone to stand under the AP shows 332Mbps down and 30 Mbps up which is what the ISP was providing at that time as tested on a computer using temporary wired ethernet. packetlosstest.com shows excellent latency in all rooms (zoom stress test option selected) on the same Pixel 4A phone. Latest firmware V250903. As it's PoE, you just have to run one ethernet cable to it. That's much easier on a ceiling, especially under an attic. If you do need to cut holes in ceiling drywall to run the cable, ceilings tend to be white and easy to patch and paint. I used a white cat6 cable and a white "coaxial cable feed-through bushing" to make the hole for the wire look tidy. My ISP modem in pass-through mode is wired to it, and that's it. I have a very simple system now. The ISP modem and PoE injector are on surge protection and UPS backup in one out-of-sight place. DFS and 160Hz are on by default and I've left those on. I chose manual channel over automatic. Channel 1 for 2.4G (with default "20/40Hz" automatic bandwidth) as I know my neighbors have manually chosen 6. For 5G, channel 36 which with 160Hz bandwidth just tells it to span 36-64 rather than the 100-128 range. The lower frequency 36-64 range has better penetration which I prefer in my case because I'm using it inside. I kept the default same-unified-SSID for both 2.4G and 5G. I turned on MU-OFDMA and TFT. With 7 people and 60 devices no problems so far and only praise. My 6 year old computer with direct line of site to AP on ceiling now reports a WiFi link speed of 2401 Mb/s which is 2.4x more than wired gigabit ethernet and 6x greater than the 415 Mb/s best ever I've seen from the ISP at 4am. Even with the rule-of-thumb that reality is 50% of link speed, the WiFi still far exceeds my ISP rate. More importantly, packetlosstest.com shows excellent results in the furthest away rooms, even with the zoom setting.

I wanted to like this access point because when it worked, it was excellent. The coverage was outstanding, the speeds were great, and it performed exactly as advertised... until it didn't. The first unit lasted about three weeks before it suddenly stopped providing internet access. My phone and computer would still connect to the WiFi, but there was no internet, and I couldn't even access the management page to troubleshoot it. I tried factory resets, power cycling, different cables, and every troubleshooting step I could think of, but nothing brought it back. Thinking I had just received a defective unit, I purchased a second one. Unfortunately, it failed after just one day with almost the exact same symptoms. Devices would connect to the WiFi, but there was no internet access, and the unit became inaccessible for management. I'm giving this one star only because I can't give it zero. The performance is fantastic while it lasts, but reliability is unacceptable. I only wish I had seen more reviews describing this issue before buying not just one, but two of these units. I cannot recommend this product.

I gave it 5 stars, bc it works good. It's lighter and the unit itself is smaller than the 4 antenna model, but in my situation, I have 6 IEGeek cameras around my property, and they each need a very strong signal in order to work well. I found that the broadcast signal from this is equal to or maybe slightly less than the heavier 4 antenna model. I'll leave a tip here to easy pairing..... 1)connect the ac adapter, with power switch off. 2)Then connect a short cat5 or 6 data cable from your primary home router to the ''data'' side of the power adapter. 3)Then connect the AX3000 to the POE side of the power adapter with a second cat5 or 6 data cable. 4)Go to a laptop or phone and type 192.168.30.1 and after a brief period, the WAVELINK setup page will come on. 5)I'm going by memory here, but the password needed to change the user ID and password should be ADMIN . 6)After powering down, then powering back on, your new USERNAME and PASSWORD should be applied. Write it down! If all else fails, you can do a soft reset and then the factory username and password will come back so you can start over to try again. Be assured, if you purchased this item, either the 4 antenna or the 6 antenna model, it was a great buy. My 4 antenna ax3000 reaches a wifi cam which is over 750' away in line of sight to this router! Amazing. By rotating, raising up or down, or tilting you can find the ''sweet spot'' for the strongest signal to the dead spots. I mounted mine to an old satellite dish mount, which allows for tilt and rotation up on my roof. Any high spot at least as high as the receiver will do. Try to find a good spot with ''line of sight'' to your cameras or whatever needs the broadcast signal. Keep in mind that being close to trees or metal objects can weaken the signal on either end.

Could not get this to work with the Texas POE adapter, or the EverStar POE adapter. Both of them would allow the unit to boot up, then reboot every 2-10 minutes. Tried working with support from Wavelink and the POE injectors companies, and the verdict was that those Poe injectors are not compatible with the Wavelink. This was very frustrating, I had to use a 12 to 48v converter and then use the included passive injector brick that came with the Wavelink. I’ve seen other reviews where people are complaining that this is difficult to set up so I figured there would be a lot of advanced settings. The opposite seems to be true. This seems to be very easy to set up and there are very few if any advanced settings in this unit. This is kind of a surprise for this price point, as even the TD link access points seem to have a lot more features for a lot less money. This unit has/had an incredible range and speed compared to anything I have used in the outdoor access point world. I am easily going 600 to 700 feet and getting over 100Mb. Recently, I have had some bad news. I’ve noticed that the access point has slowed down to 1 to 5 Mb at those distances now and Wavelink support told me I need to factory reset the unit. The only problem is that the access point is 40 feet in the air and is not accessible without a boom lift. Until I am able to get up there and reset it, I don’t know if the speeds will return. I’m summery, I like the unit, but would love the unit if the speeds comeback!

It installs easy. Has improved the WiFi on my place and extended where I needed it.

Unit has great range covers almost entire 20 acres of property being about 18feet off the ground (mounted to a pole on a garage eave peak). The first unit I had issues with after two weeks it encountered a hardware issue wouldn’t relay to internet anymore but customer service reached out and had me one shipped the following morning. New one installed and all good to go.

So disappointing! Works well while it’s working but there were long periods (days to weeks) that it just didn’t produce an internet signal. But, when it worked, it covered my entire 13.6, heavily wooded acreage. I wish I could have gotten it to work more reliably.

I have been a user of Wavlink products for a while and they have generally done good by me without breaking the bank. This outdoor range extender/repeater is no exception. Starting at the unboxing experience this product represents quality - the AP is well packaged and comes with everything you need to get started. This device is PoE powered, however if that is not something you currently have setup, no problem as the kit includes a PoE injector/adapter as well as the required power supply cable and ethernet cable (youll only need to connect to the PoE injector from your main router). It being PoE powered means that this router can run off a single cable which is extremely nice, especially considering this is primarily an outdoor product. Speaking of the outdoors - this product is IP67 rated, which means you can rest assured that it will be okay even in thep resence of rain and dust and will function as expected even in unideal weather. The router comes with 6 antennas, 3 each for 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands and advertises a whopping range of 300m (though I have not verified this claim). This device can also be used (as the title of the product alludes to) in various different modes - AP/Router, repeater, AP/Repeater or mesh. In my personal experience this product has been great. I set it up in my garden as I do not have good coverage there and it has served that purpose really well - the speeds are basically as fast as they are inside my house but now I have full coverage in my garden and do not need to worry about the device shorting out due to rain. Overall, I think this is a great product with many usecases, both for individuals but also for larger businesses and venues. Wavlink did not disappoint!

I have set the device up and paired it to my nbn device and after a few minutes the connection drops out. I have tried a number of times to register the item with them and it drops out at a certain point For what I need it for this item does not suit my needs and does not work. This item will work with Ethernet connection extremely well but registering the item to wavelink a query.
