Review: Excellent label maker ✨ - I bought this because I wanted an upgrade from my cheap Phomemo label maker which has cool fonts/emojis/frames but you can’t align the tape on those Phomemo devices easily and end up wasting tons of labels/tape plus the label words disappear if the label is in the sun (Phomemo are heat label makers). So I did some research on different higher quality label makers and ended up getting this Epson, and I’m glad that I did. I got the red one. I bought 3rd party brand tape because I wanted gold on black, works perfectly. Definitely great value for the money, I got the label makers on sale at $34 but would’ve paid full price. High quality labels, lots of features for customizing your label style, size, etc. And I like that it takes batteries. I use rechargeable batteries at home because you can recharge them over 1000 times (and they last a very long time so rarely ever need to recharge, I use rechargeable batteries in all my devices if there’s a battery option) I rarely buy devices that have a battery built inside anymore, mainly because if that “permanent” internal battery dies….you're screwed unless you're tech-hardware savvy and want to spend the time sourcing the exact battery and replacing it yourself. I try to buy higher quality items meant to last a very long time, so having a portable battery option is clutch. Plus I hate to add to waste in the world, if the internal permanent battery dies in a device, you have to get rid of the entire item and it’s wasteful. So I’m glad that most label makers require batteries, including this Epson. Review: Easy to use - I bought this label maker to organize my garage tools and hardware bins. I’m a private individual, and get nothing for this review, btw. I have printed about 70 labels so far and the machine has worked perfectly. Still using my first set of 6 AA batteries too, with no sign of them dying yet. I ordered a pack of extra label rolls in assorted colors from an aftermarket vendor and they have worked great. I went with 3/4” width and the machine comes with one roll of 1/2” wide label tape that I haven’t used yet. The adhesive is pretty strong and seems to stick well to most surfaces. I’ve been tagging hard plastic and painted metal surfaces mainly. Initially at least, I’ve found that you can remove a label if you goof up; they peel off cleanly. This might be different on paper. This machine by Epson seems well built and the keypad has a quality feel. Keep in mind that you’re not buying a computer laptop here, but it’s a pretty nice little machine for the price. I like that it has a preview feature that scrolls an image of the label so you can proof it. And on it’s little screen it also tells you the length of the sticker ahead of time so you know if it will fit in the spot you want to label. You can choose two lines or rephrase the words if it’s gonna be too long. Lastly, the rolls of label tape are very easy to swap in and out if you just take your time. I’ve switched several times between colors and the label cartridges just snap in place; no formatting, winding or feeding of the roll necessary.
