Mission: Impossible [VHS]

25th Anniversary Blu ray
I just wanted to warn people that if you already have a standard copy of Mission 1 on blu ray, check the special features on the back of that case to the features advertised on this 25th anniversary release. For me, they are exactly the same. There are no new extras on this so called 25th anniversary edition. And I wouldn't say the picture quality is any different either. The film has just been repackaged to get people to buy it again! Don't be fooled if you already own the original blu ray with the same extras.

A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME
Good film, pleasing & good restoration of the OCN, a very good audio track of TRUE HD5.1 and some small but INFORMATIVE extras make this a solid purchase on standard BLU-RAY DISC.The first film of the now to be 7 film franchise as Tom Cruise and Company have this new seventh film for release next year, Brian De Palma's Mission: Impossible still holds up today as a good and always watchable Spy Thriller. Simple plot of - a international list of real spies identity's called the knock list is out in the open and if other spies get their hands on the actual list then the lives of American/western agents will be exposed and eventually killed, Jon Voigt, Tom Cruise, Jean Reno, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Redgrave and Kristen Scott Thomas lead an all star cast here to find and locate the Knock list. There are more bigger stunts and action scenes in the sequels but the thrilling stunts in this first movie are just as good, the opening action scene to try and locate the disc of which the CIA are testing the IMF team, the tense extraction of the real list in the Head quarters of the CIA & the stunning helicopter, train chase scene at the time of making this movie in the mid 90's was amazing so this first entry of the franchise is a lot better than the fourth and fifth films of which they are poor to me. Mission: Impossible - Fall out was a lot better and was a return to form for the producers though, my favorite of all current 6 movies is - Mission: Impossible 3 as the stunts are great and then of course there's John Woo's more violent second film which I also like, a lot better than 4 and 5 .I didn't see this release coming if I'm being honest but I'm well impressed with the overall product, Brian De Palma's Mission Impossible has always been a good film and it was a taste of things to come with the sequels. Good audio and video, small extras, but that doesn't affect the overall product - good stuff indeed and the disc looks as good as it's going to get!

Are you sure we can do this?!
Very entertaining action movie picking up from the tv series of the same name a few years before. This is good, but having seen them all at this point ( 2021) and just re-watched this first one, they get even better. There’s lots of great action and original special effect sequences to enjoy, but the story is too convoluted and difficult to follow. It was very successful at the box office when it came out and is definitely worth a watch if you like the series of films to date.

First and best of the film franchise
Very enjoyable film with a few twists and turns that Tom Cruise's character works out during the film. Totally far-fetched final sequence but this was never meant to be a realistic film. Good turns from the supporting cast and Emmanuelle Beart (brilliant in the French film Un Coeur en Hiver) works well with Tom.

The original in HD glory and decent sound - at last
HD picture, surround sound. The sound on this film has always been dreadful; constantly varying in levels on dvd and blu ray. At last the HD download has a constant volume level. Praise the Lord.Plenty of action and twists. Fast moving fun.Loved it

It's okay
Fun in places but hasn't really stood the test of time well. Some of the special effects now look seriously dated, and the action sequence in the Channel Tunnel is pretty awful.

Good movie
We like to watch old movies with family. Mission impossible is the classic likeGodfather, once upon a time in America, Matrix or grease which we have seen few times.

The first MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie and one of the best!
I BOUGHT THIS NEW EDITION BECAUSE THE VIDEO AND THE AUDIO ARE REMASTERED. SO, THIS IS A NICE UPGRADE IN TERMS OF QUALITY IF YOU WATCH THE MOVIE IN STANDARD BLU-RAY.
