Wintertime themed STEM kit goes quickly but is pretty fun
This “Santa’s Christmas Science Workshop” is billed as a holiday STEM kit but just as easily could be used in the summertime. It’s more of a winter STEM kit because it has nothing to do with Christmas and is centered around snowflakes and snow, mostly. This kit only contains five experiments so it’s not going to be something to do all month long. More of a thing where you may have 2 days worth of activities for an hour or so each day.We had done the create your own bouncy ball and create your own snow before, so those weren’t a super hit. The crystal tree was fun and turned out pretty cool and the snowflakes were pretty neat too. I have an almost 8-year-old and it was age appropriate with my supervision. In addition to the materials included for the five projects, this also comes with a bonus booklet which has 20 other wintertime activities you can do, although you must supply your own stuff. All in all, this was fun, and I would recommend it as a gift or a just because. It’s a fairly good value.

Fun experiments with a holiday theme
This kit contains some of the same experiments I did when I was younger but with a holiday/winter theme. This will be a lot of fun to do over the holiday season with my niece. The package includes instructions and supplies for five activites. Some additional household items are needed to perform the experiments, such as mixing bowls, measuring spoons, etc. As an added bonus, there is a booklet with an additional 24 experiments that can be done with common household items.

Fun experiments
This kit includes five experiments, providing a couple days of activities for my 6 year old. M my daughter particularly liked the crystal tree and snowflake activities. She found them super fun and age-appropriate with a bit of help. It also comes with a bonus booklet featuring 20 more fun experiments you can do with household items. It kept both of us busy and we had lots of fun.

Not much science to learn
I really want to rate this kit higher. I certainly had high hopes. Unfortunately it just fell a little short. My 3-year-old and I completed all the experiments in the first book within about 1.5 hours. We had a lot of fun with them, and at some point we will pull out the "bonus experiments" book and try some of those as well. My son's favorite one at the time was the instant snow, and his favorite after the fact was the bouncy glow-in-the-dark "snowball." My favorite was the hydrophobic sand. The crystal tree grew very nicely, and it's a lot of fun to look at (but don't touch! or it will fall apart). The snowflake gel molds seemed cool until we were essentially left with inedible jello that could not be removed from the molds without breaking apart (even after the requisite hour in the fridge). The bouncy "snowball" was a bit of a disappointment as well, because there was not enough polymer powder in the kit to make a fully round ball - as you can see in the photo, there is a flat spot, because the mold wasn't all the way full. The most disappointing part of the kit, though, for me, was that there are very few explanations in the book of the actual science behind the experiments. Some of them have a short paragraph, which is great, but a couple don't have anything, and there's way more that could have been explained. I was so curious about the hydrophobic sand, but there's no info in the booklet about WHY it doesn't want to mix with water. What's the point of "science" experiments if you leave out the science behind them? They just become craft activities at that point.

Awesome science kit
This is definitely a great way to get your little one interested in science. Although I did not get to fully try out the "experiments" the components to create them seemed well made. Overall, this a good, fun and great value kit.
