Question 1

Are these the same as NeverScrub. As in what's inside.

I don't know what is in NeverScrub but the Kaboom product seems to contain bromine as is used in indoor hot tubs. I refill with the much less expensive bromine tablets from the pool supply store. Chlorine is undesirable in closed spaces but bromine is supposed to be OK. Any bleaching cleaner can interfere with the action of a septic tank but the amount supplied by this product is probably no enough to make a noticeable difference in the septic tank.

Question 2

After installing, I flushed the toilet, and water leaks out from the cap (my toilet's pressure is pretty high).  Is this going to be a problem?

The problem with letting the water leak into the tank is it negates one of the primary benefits of this system: the chemicals can react with the rubber seals in the tank causing premature failure of the valve/float assembly. This benefit is the main reason I use this kit. The discharged water and chemical bypass the tank and go directly to the bowl.

Will this product work on my toilet??

I don't know I have one older toilet that is American Standard and had to get a little creative on hanging the Kaboom but it works well. My other two toilets are new within a year to five years and the Kaboom works very well in them.

is it safe for a septic system

The manufacturer claims it is septic safe right on the box.  Our septic service says it is safe since the amount of chlorine/bromine that toilet tablets introduce into a septic cistern is minimal (toilet water is typically 10%-15% of the water put into a cistern, so it is strongly diluted).  Finally, I have seen a scientific paper where they actually tested the effect that typical toilet tablets have on the bacteria in septic systems (chlorine type, bromine should be similar since it has a similar biological mechanism), and it was found that there was no discernible difference from the "control" systems (getting the exact same sewage).
