COMPARISON OF TOP THREE BRANDS
I am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I've bought here on amazon: Fluidmaster : Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom. Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled. NeverScrub : Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom. Kaboom : Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap. No odor noticeable in the bathroom. All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed. Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap: Kem-Tek 177 : The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor. Spa-Kem 267 : The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor. Tropi Clear : The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor. Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell. Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267 ) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.

So Far, So Good!
The Kaboom Toilet Cleaning System is a toilet cleaning solution that claims to keep your toilet clean and free of stains with every flush. The system includes a dispenser and cleaning tablets that are designed to clean and freshen your toilet bowl. I just received it this week and have it installed - it will take some time to know if it actually performs as it should and I will update the review with any issues. Installation of the system is relatively easy, and the instructions are straightforward to follow. The dispenser is attached to the inside of the toilet tank, and the cleaning tablets are placed inside the dispenser. The dispenser releases the cleaning solution tablets automatically with every flush, providing a continuous cleaning experience. The Kaboom Toilet Cleaning System has a pleasant smell that leaves your bathroom smelling fresh and clean. It also claims to be safe for use with septic systems. One of the most significant advantages of this toilet cleaning system is its ability to clean even hard-to-reach areas of the toilet bowl, including under the rim. This ensures that your toilet stays clean and free of stains. It is important to note that the effectiveness of this system may vary based on your water hardness and the amount of use your toilet gets. Additionally, it may take some time to see visible results, and it is recommended to use the system regularly for best results. In summary, the Kaboom Toilet Cleaning System is a convenient and easy-to-use solution for keeping your toilet clean and fresh. While it may take some time to see visible results, the system is effective in removing stains and keeping your toilet bowl clean with every flush.

The Kaboom Starter system before purchasing extra refills. Potential concerns that may arise
The Church & Dwight Kaboom Toilet Clean System is a starter pack system that includes the housing and one tablet/cartridge for usage. I initially wrote a review on the Kaboom refill tablets section with a few concerns that I am going to mention and quote here as well. Based on review of Kaboom Refill tablets: "The Kaboom Scrub Free! Continuous Clean Toilet Cleaning Refill Tablets have been really useful, but I do not quite see myself using it in the long term. It does help "clean" my toilet, but there are some concerns that have crossed my mind, though not proven yet. I initially purchased this product because my toilet began to smell awkward like as if the water turned into some sewage water of some kind, but the water is of course clear. I also see that my toilet began to grow some standard mold around the bowl. Yes, I could have cleaned it like any person would, however, this has occurred frequently than it usually does and I find it very strange. I scoured the internet like any typical person would to seek any form of advice to solve this issue and I stumbled upon several post where people said that the Kaboom product was the one that helped solved their issue. I quickly went on Amazon to see if they carry it, and lo-and-behold they did. I ordered this and ordered the housing separate (This item is refills only and need to purchase the housing separately). The instructions where quite self explanatory and It took no longer than a couple of minutes to install and reroute the water hose in the toilet. you place the tablet in the housing and snap back the Kaboom housing cover as well as the toilet cover and that is it. You wont see results immediately, however, a few flushes, you will see results. The smell went away and I have less mold growing around the areas around the toilet bowl. I was extremely pleased with the results. The Kaboom Scrub Free! Continuous Clean Toilet Cleaning Refill Tablets do not excrete any coloring of some sort like the other brands do, so that is something I liked. Read the instructions in the booklet provided on how long you have to keep changing the tablets for because each tablets do not last for a long time. Now for the part that concerns me, although not proven yet but only my thoughts and opinions. These Kaboom tablets I know are made of some sort of chemicals in order to have it neutralize the water small as well as minimize mold build-up around the toilet bowl. When you flush the toilet, the new batch of water already came in contact with the Kaboom tablets so essentially there is water infused in these chemicals. Lets say hypothetically if you were to go to the bathroom and have to do a #2 and instead of a graceful fall, it was a violent splash and the inevitable happens where the toilet water ricochets back at your Tush. Now, the water infused chemical has come in contact to your tush. Easy thing is that you can wipe it off, but if in contact, is it safe? Kaboom does say that it is safe, however, to what extent are you talking about though? There are numerous products we use that claims its safe, but a few months to years, they have studies later on saying that it is a potential risk in health. Sure everything we use everyday can be a huge risk, but that is up to you whether you want to take that risk or not. I'm only here just to warn and enlighten you on possibilities just in case you have not thought about it. In the end, I used it until I didn't have anymore tablets and discarded the rest in the trash as I have no use of it as the water smell has been gone the the fear of potential health risk factors if used in the long term. All I can say is that it did the job extremely well during my usage, but it was unfortunate that it has led up to me ultimately deciding to discard it." It is nice to see that this Kaboom system is different than others where others have a tablet that needs to be dropped to the corner of the toilet system whereas this system has a housing where you conveniently insert the tablet in the housing and that is it. Very different and quite innovative, but likewise, As said in my previous statement that I sadly will not be using this product anytime soon unless I find a safer way to approach toilet cleaning in a better manner. In the meantime, back to the traditional manual scrubbing method.

Use it!
This is the STARTER KIT you use to set up the system. You only have to buy this once for each toilet. There is a different box (same colouring, slightly smaller) that contains ONLY refills! (A three pack for about $12) Make sure you are ordering the correct thing! PLUS, you CAN NOT use the refills without this! It would be like trying to walk your dog without actually having a dog! If you're even slightly handy this is easy to install. It hangs INSIDE the tank, and you have to reroute the bowl fill hose to use it. BE AWARE that there ARE a very small number of toilets that CANNOT use this device! Before you order, go take the lid off the toilet tank and make sure you have a (usually black, but sometimes white) hose about the diameter of a pencil running from the filler control to the overflow tube in the center of the tank. If you can't find this, or look and can't figure out what I'm describing, then you probably can't install this. I do house cleaning and every time I get a new client I install one of these in each of their toilets. Makes my cleaning job SO MUCH EASIER! It has a SLIGHT odor of a swimming pool which I can detect when I flush the toilet. If I don't smell it, I check the unit and usually have to install new tablets. A package (with two tablets) lasts about 3 months in an averagely used toilet. Finally, this is a cleaning assistant, not a cleaning replacement! You still have to grab a brush and scrub the inside of the bowl with a proper toilet cleaner. Just not as often or as vigorously. It helps keep mold from growing at the waterline, keeps the smell of urine washed away, and softens the calcium ring at the water line so that you don't have to pumice it as often or as hard (if you have hard water). Finally, DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU HAVE PETS THAT DRINK FROM THE TOILET! IT WILL KILL THEM!

Best Decision I've Made in "Home Automation"
I, like probably you, HATE cleaning my toilet on a regular basis. I am very much the person that once I see any sort of rings or residue, I clean my toilet. I was always cleaning my toilets! Somehow, this appeared to me and I was admittedly pretty skeptical on whether or not it'd be effective. Truth be told, this is fantastic! It's good for about 2-3 months and then once I see any indicator that the toilet isn't clean, I clean it, pop in the refill tablets, and wait till it happens again. Set a reminder and never have to clean the toilet again! If you're as much on the fence as I was, it's seriously a no-brainer. Why wouldn't it work well? It's also very reasonably priced for peace of mind that my toilets will remain clean. I no longer have to worry about it not being cleaned with unexpected visits from friends and family. It's super easy to set up with very clear directions. It comes with a replacement tube too. The only gripe I have is that the refills cost more than the system + refill combo. If I didn't hate waste, I'd just keep buying the system + refill. Maybe I just talked myself into it with this review and I'll gift it to people.

Works well but it's cheep
Works well to extend the cleaning intervals. Will keep the bowl clean with the drawback of a chlorine odor. I bought 3 of these because the price was better than another brand. Just now I found 1 of them was leaking into the toilet reservoir due to an apparent gasket failure. Don't know why the ends of the device have a seam instead of being a continuous piece of plastic. Overall satisfied. I've ordered a replacement due to the low price and effectiveness at keeping toilets clean.

use CHLORINE (TRICHLOR) not BROMINE refill tablets
Works great. Recommend using chlorine (trichlor) pool tablet refills NOT bromine. Bromine tablets left mold bloom in the bowl, apparently bromine is not is strong as chlorine. Very affordable to get a canister of 1" tablets. Make sure any bromine is completely rinsed out as bromine and chlorine have a toxic reaction together.

It is so simple and it works the best!
This is an old "As Seen on TV" product that actually works. When it went on the store shelves years ago, I bought three of them for our three bathrooms. They were a flash to install and have saved us on a dirty job. I needed to get a new one when I had to replace the inside workings of one toilet. They really don't wear out. I threw that one away, which was stupid at the time. We had bought the first ones at Wal-Mart years ago very cheap. Well I found this one on Amazon, got it, and that toilet is back in action for cleaning again. (That bathroom is seldom used now that we are empty nesters.) The tablets that come with Kaboom are excellent. They are basically chlorine tablets about 1 inch in size. I have not seen the replacements anywhere. What we do to feed these Kaboom systems is break up the large drop-in tank tablets while they are in package and put that in the Kaboom. One large tablet lasts for use about two to three months. We put about half the tablet pieces in at a time. We keep the pieces in a glass jar that are not used. It works for us. Amazon does have generic replacements that are sold for Kaboom. Chlorine tablets that are used to shock home wells I would imagine would work. The Kaboom System saves the inside of the tank from the chemicals destroying the parts and rubber. The chlorine goes directly into the bowl a little at a time. It is so simple.

Not as expected
Item doesnโt fit in my cistern. Tried contacting the company to discuss and have had no success

Not worth it,
This product never keeps its original price. Given it doesn't work on modern toilets neither the chemicals cause issues with the system itself. I unfortunately ordered 2 one arrived as a empty box. The second arrived and never worked I soaked the one 'free' tablet in the water, which caused it to break down the system and cause leaks within the toilet. This has to be a scam from the sellers.

A great way to desinfect the toilet bowl without breaking it.
As I was repairing a broken valve and flapper, burned by chlorine tablet, I found this handy item. Keep the toilet bowl clean with chlorine without the hassle of having to replace parts that get corroded over time and start leaking. Simply plug it between the float valve and the chute, and you're done. It come with two 1 inch tablets. I recommend looking for spa tablet instead of the original refill, as they cost as much as the device itself!

Not suitable for Australian toilets.
This device will only work in U.S. toilets and will not take returns.
