It's a medium meaning it's not too hard or soft it's just right, in the middle. It's a perfect blend so you won't go bold in the middle do to the constant brushing away from The middle of your head.

Does this brush come with a travel case? I'm interested in keeping it in my car for on the go activities and want to keep it clean and protected.

Yes. I'm not sure if the package it came in says it on this particular brand; I tossed mine. I've purchase several brushes that state the package it comes in is supposedly travel worthy.
