Will copic markers bleed through?

The paper isn't ideal for markers, unless you are careful. Most of our customers say that the Leda does not bleed or bleeds very little with ink and pens. If you press hard with a fountain ink pen you may find a bit of bleeding. Copic markers and Sharpies will bleed. Smaller tip Copic markers may work if you are careful. If you like Copic markers exclusively you may want to choose a sketchbook with 100 pound paper or more. Ink washes, water color and acryilic paint will not degrade the paper but will cause the paper to warp slightly. We love using the Leda for aggressive, messy art. You can use a lot of wet medium if you don't mind a messy, "lived in" look. The book begins to look like an ancient artifact when you let go of your idea that art must be pristine, neat and precise. Check out our video interview with northwest artist Larry Calkins using the Leda for his wet medium sketchbook making. He loves the Leda and tells his students to get them. Larry likes that the Leda paper is dense, but not super thick like water color paper. The paper is 81 pounds while most sketchbooks are 60 or 65 pound -- so you will have a better experience with wet media using Leda.  Give it a try. Does it lay flat when opened?

Yes, the Leda sketchbook lays flat for easy sketching. Lots of reviewers say that they like it for that reason.

The pocket book (3.5 x 5.5 inches) however is a bit harder to lay flat because it is so small, so adding a metal clip will make it flat.

Remember if you don't like the leda sketchbook for any reason you can always print off an Amazon return label and drop it in the mail.

What kind of material is the cover made of?

The flexible cover is made of soft, textured plastic -- similar to what is used for tennis shoes. Customers say that the feel is pleasant to touch and reminds them of comfortable sneakers. The lighter weight cover makes this art journal less bulky than hard covered books and ideal for traveling. MOREThe material is made of thermal bicast PU leather considered best for the environment because it is free of BPA, PVC or other Phthalates.You can check to see that we use high quality cured PU material by looking at the embossed logo on the cover. The change in color layers indicates that the type of plastic is among the least toxic designations for use by humans. PU leather is used in many industries such as footwear, upholstery, and automobile interiors. We use it for the Leda cover to provide water-resistant, all-weather protection for your art. The manufacturing fuses a thermoplastic shell layer on foam fabric to create a soft, leather like texture that is a delight to hold.  Some people prefer PU material for house hold products and clothing over animal leather because PU has a low impact on the environment.  That is why it is sometimes called "vegan leather." The Leda sketchbooks are built to last. The archival paper is Forest Stewardship Certified and will last decades.  It is true that while we use safe PU plastic the covers are not easily biodegradable. However sketchbooks are artifacts, not disposable items. Our hope is that finished books will become precious heirlooms that will record your artistic expressions for years to come.

Okay, so i am a long time artist. i do archival & fountain pen ink works. or copic markers in a greyscale.  is this good for me?plz recommend books!

Copics and prismas WILL bleed through and sometimes stain the next page a little. Fountain pens are fine for me. Ink does sometimes bleed when heavily applied but otherwise a great sketchbook. I've had mine a year and it holds up great plus the paper is decent.
