Lovely and chocolatey . I feel a healthy option to normal hot chocolate as I have mine at bed time with hot milk. It helps me sleep. Although expensive I will buy again.

This stuff is brilliant, it really does help me sleep. I am a repeat orderer.

This is quite a pleasant evening drink, although I did find the chocolate flavour a bit weaker than I was hoping for. It is not unpleasant at all, just a little mild, so I ended up using a bit of extra powder to get a fuller taste. That sorted it for me, and it was much nicer once made a little stronger. One thing I did like straight away was how easy it is to prepare. It mixes without much effort, blends in smoothly, and I did not have any issues with clumps or gritty bits. That makes it easy enough to fit into a bedtime routine, especially if you just want something quick and warm in the evening without any faffing about. As for the actual effect, I would not say it helped me sleep in any obvious way. I did not notice myself getting particularly sleepy from it, so I would not buy it expecting some dramatic bedtime result. What I would say is that it seemed slightly relaxing in the sense that it felt like a calming drink to have later on. The other thing that is hard to ignore is the price. It is very expensive for what you get, especially once you factor in the fairly small tub and the fact I felt the flavour needed a bit more powder to be at its best. That does make it feel more of a luxury wellness drink than something I would see as good value. For me, this works better as a pleasant evening hot chocolate style drink with a wellness angle rather than something that made a major difference overnight. It is easy to mix, smooth to drink, and enjoyable enough once made a bit stronger, but the flavour could definitely be bolder, the sleep side of it was not especially noticeable for me, and the price is on the high side.

This 'The Evening Elixir' hot chocolate powder by WelleCo comes in a decent-sized black plastic jar containing 150g of the powder which, if using the suggested serving size, makes thirty drinks. The mix is mostly high-quality organic cocoa powder without any dairy or plant-based milk, so if it is made purely with water it ends up being quite a thin liquid. Making it with at least some kind of dairy or plant milk gives an improved texture but obviously increases the calorific content. The mix contains natural sweetener from Stevia to prevent the mix being too bitter. The big difference between The Evening Elixir and regular hot chocolate is the added blend of natural ingredients intended to provide overnight nourishment and replenishment. These added ingredients are almost all plant extracts, including cherry, coconut, chamomile, mushroom, lemon, passionfruit, lavender and pomegranate. There's nothing in there to raise any eyebrows or cause any concerns. We've been taking this fortified mix as a hot drink with some oat milk just before bed for several days and have certainly found it aids sleep. We found mixing it with just hot water, while probably healthier, didn't produce such an enjoyable result. We can't comment on any other specific restorative benefits, but the 150g of powder will provide many more drinks after which we should be able to better determine any results.

I was a little apprehensive about trying this Hot Chocolate due to the added Passionflower, Chamomile and Lavender. I personally couldn’t taste any traces of these and neither could my adult son. It arrives in a sturdy, screw lid tub which was easy to open. My batch had a long best before date of May 2027. I made the drink at night by adding it purely to hot milk in a pan. It whisked beautifully and created an impressive froth. Taste wise, we both enjoyed the product, I believe it to be premium quality as the taste was rich and luxurious. The powder itself is low calorie which is great for healthier choices, although I appreciate the milk wouldn’t have helped with calorie control, however I have no desire to swap it out for water. I like that it has added vitamins to support health and sleep. I achieve a good nights rest after drinking, but generally I’m a sound sleeper anyway. At 34.99 at time of review, it’s obviously pricey in my opinion and as much as I loved the taste and product, I’m personally struggling to see I how a few added vitamins can justify the price.

I genuinely love this Evening Elixir and I’m surprised how well it works. I drink it during my Netflix time before bed and it’s become my little wind-down ritual. The effect is very noticeable: I feel calmer and more relaxed, which is exactly what I want at night. One time I made it during the day because I don’t drink coffee and I was craving something warm like a hot chocolate. Big mistake (in the funniest way) because it relaxed me so much that I didn’t want to focus or get anything done afterwards. So for me, this is 100% a night-time drink, or for any time you know you don’t need to concentrate anymore. Taste-wise, it’s really nice and dissolves easily. I mix it with almond milk and sometimes add an unflavoured protein powder for extra protein, and it still tastes great. I’ve tried a similar product from another brand before, but I prefer the flavour of this one. If you’re looking for a comforting hot chocolate-style drink that helps you switch off, this is a winner.
