Above Average Zombie Movie
This was quite a bit better than most zombie movies; it's a lot better than the three star rating and some of the reviews suggest. So many of these movies, as well as TV shows like Walking Dead, have the characters do unbelievably stupid things because the writers aren't smart or creative enough to find any other way to move the story along, but this one had characters acting like competent adults might actually act in a situation like that.It didn't over or underdo the gore; it just made it look like it would look in a situation like this. The story was good and plausible, and the actors did a decent job.I wasn't thrilled with the ending; it did what other movies do in having the characters be stupid, in a way that was out of character. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. The ending wasn't terrible; it just was not to my liking.

Falls short of promise
The opening scene of this movie ranks right up there with great war movies like Saving Private Ryan.In this case find a young German soldier fighting in one of the bloodiest battles of World War Two, the battle for Stalingrad where German and Soviet soldiers battled each other building to building and street to street. The scene is very realistic and intense and just when it looks like the German soldier is about to die after the Soviets overrun German positions and he is alone they suddenly and hastily withdraw. The young German soldier soon finds out why ... The Soviets have developed a new weapon, gas that bring the dead back to life. The young German soldier survives after putting on his gas mask and escapes only to end up in an insane asylum after what he has witnessed drives him mad.Fast forward present day American intelligence finds the soldiers diary and want to find the left over gas canisters located in Bulgaria. The head of the operation is a veteran army ranger and here is where the show takes a turn for the worse. They have a Scottish actor play the army ranger which is fine except he speaks with a heavy Scottish accent !From there we have other actors/actresses who deliver their lines poorly which is why I gave it only three out of five stars. My advice : Rent it before you buy it to make sure you like it before wasting your hard earned money.

Good start, but predictable and rushed ending.
First 30 minutes was good. Lots of actions, decent plotline. That quickly went away as it played into some common zombie tropes. Although bearable, the end was extremely rushed with no resolution.

Acceptable zombie action....
Nowadays there is 3 types of zombie movies, the comedy, the horror and the action type of zombie movie. This most definetly belongs in the action category of zombie movie. It's not horribly bad and not horribly good either, not much of a character build-up as we are thrown into the action pretty much str8 away. There's some gore and violence in here but it's more of a action movie sorta violence whit machine guns and explosions than splatter scenes. If u catch it on late night cable or find it used for a few dollars it's not a bad purchase but it's hardly essential viewing or anything you buy full price.

5 stars for the first few minutes of this movie, the rest... maybe 3?
The acting by the fella who is playing the German in the beginning who is witness to the gas that reanimates the dead is actually VERY believable, he is very good. And the way they filmed the WW2 scenes gets an A+. I wish that the whole movie could have been filmed that way, and that the person who played this German would have been a main character. THAT would have been a badass movie.

Hans needed his own movie
First 30 minutes is amazing. If it continued like that with Hans V Zombies would auto 5/5.Its not and the rest of this movie is a disappointment compared to the opening.

This movie had potential
The movie started out respectable enough but quickly dissolved into just another crappy, poorly written and executed zombie flick. The mother character was a total waste of time and the ending made no sense whatsoever. It is hard for me to believe that people rated this movie with anything more than one or two stars. I have relatively low standards and expectations for modern era movies but this one was couldn't even reach those.

Average infected enemy affair (REVIEW MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS)
The storyline had potential to be a cross between 28 Days Later and REC in terms of pacing and thrills. But it just wasn't to be. There is too many rough edges for a smooth ride to the end. The ending was so cliched. I've seen it a thousand times before in horror movies. I love my Zombie movies and Infected enemy type movies. But this is an average affair. The enemy are not zombies. They die from bullets to the chest. Zombies in movies don't die from chest damage of any kind. They tried to make the enemy in the movie a combination of zombie and infected. Like zombie traits but the mortality of infected from 28DL. I went into it not knowing what to expect. So I wasn't pre-determined to dislike or like it before hand.I wanted to like this movie but the ending saw to it that this wasn't to be. It's time movie makers moved past this Final Girl Cliched mentality. It's killing morale for viewing horror movies. It makes them so predictable that you don't really NEED to watch all of a movie before knowing how it will end. Which is usually with most or all men dying and a woman or two surviving at the end.Not to get into too much of a rant on the ending or the FGC (Final Girl Cliche) in general. But horror is sexist towards men. Has been for over 30 odd years now. Give it a rest and give guys a chance in horror. I don't make these rules. But I do spot them through having a growing intolerance towards these traits horror is hell bent on using as often as possible.

Ordentlich
