But I was pleasantly surprised. I had recently purchased two 4" welding f-clamps from HF which I thought were nice for the money. These were 3x the cost. Alcohol influenced my decision to purchase these wilton clamps because I needed 2 more of this style. I have to say they are more than twice the weight, the build quality of the mechanism and screw is far more robust. I think there is that much more value in the wilton clamp that they are worth the premium. I would buy them again. That said, I also think the HF clamps were a great deal and will be put to work, but for more critical applications the wilton clamps will be more fit for purpose. I recognize that a 5" clamp will be a bit bigger than a 4" and so not a 1-1 comparison, but the difference in quality is very apparent irrespective of the clamping range difference. Amazon had the best prices as well.

The best. When you need to hold stuff with high force these are the ones. The Chinese copies are ok for light duty stuff but not for serious stuff

Built tough! And works well! The design is rebuildable, some good thoughts put into this tool.

I have other F style clamps. (Strong hand) These were not as beefy as I expected from Wilton.
