Interesting first book in series
I loved this book, Caitlynn is an interesting character who meets and falls in love with the mysterious Caleb. It has a good story and leaves you ready for the next book. It's about 2 years since I read this book and to be honest I never really intended to review but it's being promoted on bookbub at the moment so I wanted to give some advice, this book is really good and the next book is also a good interesting read but after that it goes seriously downhill I made the mistake of being so impressed with the first 2 books I automatically bought 3 to 8 as they came out, big mistake unfortunately I'd had them a while before I started to read them wanting to read them together by the time I got to 7 I gave up and I'll never read 8 I should have asked for a refund but I'd had them for awhile before I got round to reading the ones I did read so I never bothered. I feel so disgusted that these are just money makers that I'll never read another book by this author even if they're free since in my experience the free ones are just a taster to a long and ultimately expensive series. Why 4 stars, because to be fair this is a good book.

Just plain annoying
I got this as a free download from the Kindle store. I'd sort of vaguely heard of the series and author and decided that for free I didn't really have anything to lose! Turned tells the story of Caitlin. She's starting a new school and faces all the drama that comes with it; learning her way round, noticing a cute guy at school, struggling to adjust to her new surroundings whilst all the time battling bouts of rage and a strange craving for blood. This book was complete and utter silliness. The writing was pretty bad and extremely repetitive. You'd get 5 sentences in a row starting with "she" or "Caitlin" which got annoying pretty quickly. It's a pretty short book and the pacing suffers because of it. Things move along stupidly fast with very little explanation. The back story of Caitlin and her family is barely glossed over. Then you get to the actual plot. Caitlin's attraction to Jonah was incredibly cheesy, and then he ends up being forgotten about pretty quickly when another guy appears on the scene. Given the title of the series (Vampire Journals) and the completely obvious symptoms Caitlin was having (superhuman strength, a craving for blood...) it took a pretty long time to actually get round to the vampire action. But the low point for me was when Caitlin starts to wonder if maybe if she had a boyfriend everything would be ok. *headdesk*For the most part the book is told from Caitlin's perspective but then suddenly halfway through, it switches to someone else's perspective, and then shortly after it switches again. It felt completely random to be jumping about like that and it didn't work for me.Saying all that, I still managed to get through it all. I think if you're looking for 2 hours to kill then this book is perfectly acceptable for that. There's plenty of action towards the end when things kick off but I have no desire to read the rest of the series. This review was also posted on my blog.

A bit too quick, a bit too bland?
Very fast paced, to the point it was too quick. in my opinion. I read it in just over an hour and a half, and that was with break. The beginning was great, the if not slightly cliche beginning of new girl, new town, new school. I didn't mind Caitlin in the beginning, but half way through when she stated 'turning' I wasn't sure what to think.Jonah was a good little fill in character, but then we meet Caleb and it is like bang, instant obsession. Again everything was just too quick. It was an easy read, something to bide the time. Vampires are my go to, if I am in need of something to browse and this filled the gap for me.I do feel that Morgan Rice has rushed this first book, not enough information on the covens, not enough back story. I'm sure we will see that from the next few books in the series, but just feel a little let down and disappointed. Other than that it was a good, quick and easy read.

Couldn't even finish it.
Ms Rice does it again--another God-awful book. After being appalled by her attempt at writing fantasy (A Quest of Heroes and other nonsense titles) I thought I'd see if she proved any better at writing supernatural. The answer is a resounding no.Poor deprived girl, bullying parent, discovers she has powers, learns her mother took her in, goes on a quest to find out her real heritage and if she's some kind of Chosen One.Compare that to A Quest of Heroes: poor deprived boy, bullying parent, discovers he has powers, learns his father took him in, goes on a quest to find his real heritage and if he's some kind of Chosen One.Hmm. I suspect there's been some lazy plot-developing here. For anybody who is interested at what point I stopped reading, it was at the words 'Beethoven Butcher'. I just couldn't bring myself to read any more bland, unimaginative, badly written drivel.I'm sorry, Ms Rice, but were through.

A new story about vampires
Another well written page-turner from the master, Morgan Rice. Slightly different topic but still a great story. You almost have to read another chapter the story grips you so; A great introduction to the characters, I hope will progress along the series. The main character is a teenager who discovers she is a vampire. Her first experience is in the "manor" of gang of vampires and her action brings down the wroth of the vampire underworld onto herself.

Enjoyable
This first book in the series is part of a boxed set of 'firsts' I have by this author and I found it to be an enjoyable read.

Finished too soon
This was an excellent book but I felt that just as you were really getting to know the characters it ended. I really can't wait to read the next instalment

fangtastic start to a series
Probably aimed at ya, this is a fast paced vampire romp in which the hero of the story, Caitlin, has started to develop vampire traits even though she has never been bitten.

Clichéd, and no real resolution
Clichéd, and doesn't reach any real resolution. Yes, it's the first book in a series, but even in a series each book should be able to stand on its own, with the main plot lines...

Liked so far.
Not read all but enjoyed what I did. Will be looking for a paper version though soon.

Twilight rival...I don't think so
The characters are two dimensional at best due to a complete lack of character development. Major events occur in the narrative and are then glossed over or ignored or just...
