Good device but not yet an improvement over earlier model
I bought the WD07 FileHub as an update replacement for my earlier model FileHub WD03. The WD07 is advertised as a performance improvement over the WD03, adding a 5GHz transmit capability. Aside from that, the new device is really functionally the same as the older and offers really great capabilities. I'll focus on whether this new model is an improvement.I ran tests with both devices, copying the same files from an SD card to a hard drive (both connected to the FileHub) and from the SD card to an iPad Pro. These tests indicate that the WD07 is significantly slower at transferring data than the WD03. I’ve had the WD03 for a couple of years now and also owned the earlier FileHub devices so I have years of experience with them.Files on SD card: 165 Canon RAW image files 2,041,391,621 bytesDevices Used:WD07 FileHub with latest firmware - V2.0.038WD03 FileHub with latest firmware - V2.000.06610.5” iPad Pro running iOS 11.4.1 with latest FileHub application – V2.0.48Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB SD cardWestern Digital 4TB USB3.0 My Passport Ultra Portable Hard DriveWD07Transfer Rates Measured:SD card -> HDD (using Copy command in FileHub app): 216 secs. When I removed the SD card from the WD07, it was very warm, a concern given the effects of heat on memory devices.• The WD03 has a larger battery (6000 mAh) than the WD07 (5200 mAh).• When connected to the WD07’s 5GHz network, bridging to other local networks is not possible as the FileHub does not show any external networks as available; bridging only works with the FileHub’s 2.4GHz network. On both devices, the bridged Internet connection runs at approx. 60% of the speed of the original connection (checked with Speedtest).• When used in bridge mode, the WD07 cannot see external 5GHz networks (similar to the WD03); it sees and can only bridge to 2.4GHz external networks.• Both devices provided solid connections, both with the FileHubs network alone and with bridged Internet connects; no drops seen.• Using an SMB connection to the FileHub, you can access the attached storage using other file management apps like FileBrowser and FileExplorer (unchanged functionality).• Physically, the WD07 is larger than the compact WD03 – about ½” longer, ¾” wider, but slightly smaller in depth. Weight is not noticeably different.• The USB port on both devices is USB2.0. I was hoping a newer model would be USB3.0.• The WD07 has a USB-C charge port while the WD03 uses micro USB. The WD07 may charge faster but I didn’t measure as that has never been an issue for me with the older device. A short USB-A (3.0) to USB-C is provided; for me, it just means one more cable to carry along so I don’t see this as a positive.• Edit with additional info - nether the WD07 nor the WD03 will charge a 2017 iPad or a 10.5" iPad Pro. Too much power required for those devices to charge(?).Conclusion – based on the above, this current incarnation of the FileHub does not appear to be an improvement over the earlier version (which is $5 cheaper on Amazon). Near as I can tell, the 5GHz addition is useful only when using the WD07 as a router, hard-wired to a modem so it's not much of a selling point for a travel router/filehub. I do want to emphasize though that these are really great devices and I am really happy with the WD03 and there are no real competitive products available (I have tried others); this just doesn’t seem to be an improvement - yet. I say yet as the hardware elements are now there and the hope is that firmware and app improvements will take it to a higher level of performance. Because of that potential, I would go with the newer version as a new purchase.

Great little gadget box for traveling!
I purchased this item for traveling. I wanted to take videos and photos using my iPhone and an Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal. I also purchased a 128gb SD card to store my data onto. I read the instructions, which were in very small print, and followed the directions. I downloaded the required app for this product and it worked as promised. I’m happy with this purchase. I do recommend this to those individuals who are looking to travel and need to store data. I would also recommend to the maker of this product that they increase the print size and create a video to make it easier on the customers to know how to properly use this product.

and my experience with technical support was some of the worst I’ve encountered
I’ve encountered several issues while trying to use the RAVPower RP-WD07 FileHub. Also, I found the device confusing and awkward to use, and my experience with technical support was some of the worst I’ve encountered. When technical support wasn’t ignoring me, they responded with nearly useless information. Time will tell if improvements are realized with software and firmware upgrades.First, there are two ways of interfacing with the device, via their phone app (android in my case) or a web browser using 10.10.10.254. Some things can be done via the app but not on the web browser and vice versa. Why don’t both interfaces work the same? For example, the only way to set the date/time is via the browser interface. You can initiate an SD card backup via the phone app but not the browser interface. There is a setup wizard on the browser interface but not the phone app. When I first started using the WD07 I noticed that the date/time folder/file time stamps were either 2012 or 2011 depending on the interface used! At first, I couldn’t figure out how to set the time because I was trying to use the phone app. Technical support pointed out that I needed to use the browser interface to set the time. I set the time and date as explained and was happy. But then when I powered up again later the date and time were wrong!! And I had to set it again. I initially set it to do automatic date/time updates online, but it will not keep the setting!! Also, why doesn't the date/time show on the device's home screen or somewhere in the app? The only way I can find out the devices date/time is AFTER I do a backup and I look at the date/time of the created folder. VERY BAD design and user interface for a customer!I discovered that apparently the WD07 filehub cannot use a USB drive that has more than one partition in it. I re-purposed a 250 GB SSD drive that was in a laptop computer. I reformatted it for use with the WD07 filehub, but it retained all of the additional partitions from the laptop configuration. I wasted at least a couple hours to figure out that the SD card backups would not work because of the extra partitions. In the process, the WD07 filehub app told me that the USB SSD had errors and needed to be repaired. The app provided the repair process instructions in what looked like Chinese, though I have an English app, so I could not read them. When I connected the USB SSD to my Windows 10 computer and did a chkdsk operation on it, the result was that the SSD DID NOT have any errors or problems! I guessed and reconfigured the SSD to have only one partition, after which the SD card backup worked. It would have been nice and saved me a lot of time and trouble if documentation would have explained that a USB drive with more than one partition will not work with the WD07.I include the following in case it’s relative to others. The only reason I purchased the RAVPower WD07 FileHub is to backup photos from my DSLR camera when traveling without a laptop. I like to keep the original photos on the camera’s SD card and backup to an SSD drive daily until I return home so that I have at least two sets of photos in case something happens to one. It’s possible to do this with the WD07 filehub, but not easily. At first, I thought that the SD=>USB backup would be perfect. It would work well if I only wanted to transfer photos each day and not keep two sets of photos. Then I could transfer each day using SD=>USB and then delete the photos from the SD card for the next day. However, since I keep original photos on the SD card, the next day I have multiplied the photos assuming I take the same each day. When I do the SD=>USB again, ALL the photos on the SD card are backed up, not just the new ones. So, the WD07 filehub doesn’t provide any way for doing incremental backups, which is what I need. In my case, for a 64 GB SD card, each day will take progressively longer to do a backup until the SD card is full. I might start with 10-15 min to do the first day’s backup and be doing a 1.5 hour backup on a fifth day for a full card, assuming about 13 GB per day. In fact, I backed up a nearly full 64 GB SD card to an SSD USB drive and it took about 1.5 hours to do, so the WD07 filehub is not very fast. Using the SD=>USB backup is not useful for my purposes. The best I can figure out so far is to do my daily backups manually. When I travel with my laptop it’s a breeze. I can connect my USB drive, select each day’s photos from the SD card, and quickly copy them to the USB drive. It’s easy to select the group of photos using the “shift-select” for the first and last photos for the day. Something similar can be done with the WD07 filehub, however, it is very tedious since the Multiselect function only provides for selecting one photo/file at a time rather than a group at a time like using “shift-select” on a PC. For example, one day I had close to 400 photos, so I had to select each one individually to copy to the USB drive. Though tedious and time consuming, I figure that this is much faster than using the SD=>USB backup, especially as the SD card gets fuller. One caution is that you need to monitor the transfer process closely, as I experienced the process stopping when for some unknown reason it needed to ask me to overwrite a file or skip. I thought it would take about 15 min. to do, so I ignored for 15 min. and then noticed that it stopped about 15 min. earlier, so it took about 30 min. overall when it should have only taken 15.

Its Best Feature Doesn't Work An Expensive Sub Par Item
Not convinced that this is any better than the other file hubs available from the manufacturer. Bought solely on the push button SD to USB transfer ability i.e no phone needed to backup your images while travelling. Unfortunately this feature is completely omitted from the instructions and i just cannot get it to work. Build quality also seems really poor for this item, not up to the usual standards of this manufacturer. Can i recommend this as a photo backup device, no. Its very expensive, has a low battery capacity and ultimately will not backup as intended.Update 17.07.18 - Ravpower have replaced the file hub build quality is still the same far below other Ravpower items I own. There are still no instructions on how to use the SD to USB feature however it seems a long press does indeed trigger the transfer. Unfortunately it only transfers jpeg images, not raw or videos making it useless for travel. Despite wanting to like this device the rating still stands.Update - 20/08/18 Unit has stopped working won’t buy one again. Seller keeps asking for review to be removed

So much more than a travel router
If you want to make the most use of your ipad Pro’s features this is almost essential. It allows you to input various types of media into the iPad using a number of different third party apps - all worksfast thanks to the 5G connection. Works great with apps like LumaFusion allowing 4k files to be transferred easily and you can save and input media to whatever hard drive you want to attach. Works out in the field or at home in the office - it’s like a Swiss Army knife soo versatile I could work without it. High recommended - the documentation could be better but everything you need is there.
