Review: mini projects that you can pick up and complete - This is a fabulous book of squares. I'm really enjoying having a go at these little sample projects, and as a complete newbie to crochet, there are some easy wins and others that challenge me. For each square, there is a picture of the finished product and a chart alongside the handwritten instructions, organised by row. I'd really like to see a photo of the anatomy of the stitch, so I know where the instructions are directing me to, for example, SC over joining SS - I'm sure that most seasoned crocheters would know what this means. Having said that, Shelly has a YouTube channel with videos that break down how to use the techniques and patterns from one of her other books in the series. There are no pointers in this book to which existing videos might be helpful for understanding the directions, and this might be a nice addition for future editions of this fabulous book. I love that each little project can be completed in a minimal amount of time, which doesn't feel disheartening if I have to pull it apart because I've made a mistake and start again. There's no rush and these little mini projects make a really lovely bigger one... all in good time. Review: Excellent book - I’m loving working my way through this book. Although the different designs are marked according to the skill level, they aren’t easy. Not a book for a complete beginner. I’m an experienced crocheter and find I really need to concentrate on following the patterns. There are only basic instructions on the stitches used, but YouTube always has the answers to that. The instructions are actually very good and it’s really helpful to have a drawn pattern too, although these are very small and can be too complicated to read, especially on patterns where the stitches cross over to the rows below. I take a photo of the image on my iPad so that I can enlarge sections on the screen. Overall, I’m loving making the squares. They are all very pretty and will stitch together to make a beautiful throw. There are other projects at the back of the book too. If you crochet, this is most definitely a book for your collection.

Great book
This lovely crochet book arrived securely packaged and in perfect condition. I follow this lady online and have always liked her designs, this is the first time I have bought one of her books. Firstly I love the feel of the cover! Very smooth, not glossy, and very tactile. It's nicely presented with a smart front cover. Inside are loads of clearly explained, well laid out patterns, mostly various squares, with ideas for how to put them together. What I really like are the patterns further on in the book that show how to build on a square to make something to use or wear, that looks a bit different and in most cases, looks like an up market purchase. One of the scarf /wrap patterns in particular is gorgeous and lined up to be my first project. You can order the UK terms or the USA version, just make sure to stick to one or the other, don't mix them in one piece Definitely recommend. Thanks for reading, I hope you find this review helpful.

If you like granny squares this is a good one
If you like to make granny squares this is a good book to have. Lots of choice and for different levels of crochet. I’ve made a few already. Very good for beginners too as it gives lots of details on how to start them. Would recommend if you like granny squares

Brilliant!
Although this book says it’s not for the absolute beginner I had only limited experience crocheting before I tackled these designs...and I’m left handed. I deliberately bought the kindle edition because being a lefty I needed to reverse the diagrams which is easier on kindle that holding a mirror up against the book. After learning the basic stitches via YouTube, I started by limiting myself to just the simpler designs. Now I’ve done most of these I’m starting to try the intermediate ones. I’m making them to end up as a blanket so by the end of making the blanket I’ll be quite proficient crocheting...blanket squares at least!!

Great designs for intermediate to advanced crocheters
I’m working my way through the squares in this book and am enjoying the variety. Each pattern is accurate and offers both text and a diagram. I would consider the designs to be a bit tricky for beginners, and I find I have to have my wits about me and follow them carefully. I’m currently working on two separate projects from the book and could imagine coming back to it in future once these are finished.

Fabulous book!
Absolutely brilliant and very inspirational! Very clear explanations, including charts. The squares are fantastic and some are challenging but totally doable...and so pretty! Love the colour squares underneath the plain squares! They all look so different. Best crochet book bought in 2018. I hope the author will write more books like this one! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Disappointing.
Looks more like catalogue quality than a proper paperback. A bit disappointing as it was a present.

Disappointed
Despite the excellent content, the overall reading experience of this book on granny squares is severely hindered by its poor print quality. The text is often blurred, making it difficult to read and significantly diminishing the enjoyment of the otherwise valuable content. Considering the book's high price, one would expect a much better print job. Unfortunately, the subpar printing leaves much to be desired and greatly limits its usability. I am surprised that Shelly Husband would sell a book of such low print quality. Despite her reputation, the printing issues greatly detract from the value of the book on granny squares. Disappointing overall.

Small Squares, Big Impact
A crafter I follow online posted a pic with a bunch of these beautiful squares hooked up in a gorgeous pale pink yarn. Loved them! The one colour usage, the seeming simplicity of the patterns, and variety of stitches had me sold. Bought the book and have hooked up a sample square in a number 3 yarn on hand. Lovely! The crocheter/author uses a nice conversational tone at the start, with indications if pattern will be one ball, two or three in difficulty, making this book a delightfully easy and fun fresh new joy in the world of granny squares! Seasoned crocheters will love it. Beginners will find one ball squares worth the challenge. Squares are a nice manageable size. A perfect addition to your crochet library!
